Kick up them heels! Sounds like a wonderful idea... hmmm... maybe I'll try and talk my hubby into doing something like that! What a great NSV Leatha... you are really grabbing life by the horns! Have fun! Darcy

Well folks... the Weider Cross Bar is definitely going to kill me... yup! I did the chest and abs yesterday while trying to figure out how to use the machine... and did the arms/upper body program today... OMIGOD! My arms are still shaking! I have to say... I rather enjoyed myself ... pretty sick...yes??? Let me tell ya... if my arms are still flapping in the wind after using this machine on a regular basis... then surgery will be the only option remaining! Woo Hoo Moment... When I got dressed this morning... decided to try on a pair of 18 jeans that were too snug a week ago... and they fit... NICELY! I'm starting to feel like a normal person that can walk in public without wondering what the people behind me are thinking! My husband started a walking challenge at his work... so we will be walking every evening as well as my Weider workouts... hopefully those size 18's will be too loose in a couple of weeks! TTFN Darcy

Hi Ryan... I am with Donali on this one... I was not required to go on a special diet prior to surgery ... I asked my surgeon about the liver issue and he stated the the short-term dietary changes do not significantly reduce the size of the liver enough to make it worthwhile. I think that I have to agree in regards to the experience of the surgeon with band placement. I hope that you will not have to go through the dietary changes... but I can tell you it will all be worth in in the longrun. My dietician did have me keep a food diary and when I turned it in... she said... "Hmmm... I think we will have to have you keep a food diary for another 4 weeks prior to setting up an appointment with Dr. CHua... you are still eating too much... too often." DUH. Like someone said here... that's like telling somebody to quit smoking... and give them the nicotine Patches AFTER they are able to stick with it for 4 weeks. Darcy

Lisa... just a suggestion... but take the scale to a friends house???? Somebody that will gaurd it with the fury that may be required! I used to jump on the darn thing 2 to 3 times daily... and this challenge killed me at first... but now... I have my week all worked out... I can blow it on Mondays (Hence the huge bowl of icecream lastnight) and maybe even push it on Tuesday and I will still have a weight-loss on Monday as long as I keep up the exercise. I'm not going to push it today or the rest of the week... I really need to see the scale make a bigger jump this next Monday! Darcy

You look awesome Lisa Girl! Seriously... it's like night and day... you are such a cutie! Darcy

Hi Love, Congratulations! You must be SOOOOOOOO excited with October being just around the corner! I know you are going to love your band! I was banded the end of June and with the weight-loss I've had so far... Foot pain... gone... hip pain... much decreased... back pain... gone... shortness of breath with exertion... minimal... energy levels... climbing daily... self-esteem... growing... and the list goes on and on. Wishing you wonderful things on your lapband journey! Darcy

WHEW... glad I was spared that test! So sorry that you had to go through that and I would have probably done the same thing if they didn't explain how it was going to feel! I put many an NG tube down many a patient's throat and I hated doing it every single time! Darcy

I'm not sure how much help I am going to be...lol... but I'll give it a try! I am automatically logged in when I gome to the site on my home computer... if I attempt to use another computer I don't have to log in to browse the site but a request for a log in will come up if I try to post a reply in a thread. Viewing of a thread is just how many folks have gone in to take a look... they may not post a reply... perhaps they are just gathering information or after reading they don't feel the need to actually post a reply. If you want to make a comment or reply and have it show up within the thread you are viewing... you will need to hit the Post Reply button. If you want to reply just to the person that started the thread... you would hit the PM button on their original post to send them a private message or EMAIL button to send them an email. If you want to start a completely new thread in any catagory... you need to click the NEW THREAD button and give your thread a title. I hope that helps a little.... My advice is to browse the site A LOT. If you go to the "INTRODUCTIONS" area and post a new thread with your questions you will get OODLES of replies! Good Luck... Darcy

Starting lap-band process
nightingale2u replied to Lainie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wishing you LUCK LUCK LUCK and more LUCK Lainie! Welcome to the site... you'll find that everyone is really friendly and helpful here! Darcy -
Welcome Dana and wishing you the best in your journey to be banded. I think everyone has a different waiting period depending on their insurance requirements and how quickly the surgeopn is able to schedule your appointments. I started the process the 1st of April and was banded June 30th. Good luck with everything and you'll find everyone is very helpful and happy to answer any questions that may pop up down the road. Lisa... ya posted while I was playinf workout queen! Funny... the Doc I used to work for is married to a dentist... I begged him to ask her if she would wire my jaw shut! She was very uncooperative I must say! Heck... I probably would have pureed a snickers bar and sucked it through anyway! Here's to a better week...coming up! Darcy
-
Michelle... you are almost there!!! Fantastic weight-loss! WTG girl! Marie... WOO HOO... hopefully you are feeling better and those two pounds are going to be ancient history soon! Me... well... as ya know... at least I lost... probably should have gained... and hopefully I will be back on track this week and get out of the 220's. 220.5 today. The repair man fixed my Cross Bar this morning... and I've been playing with it... Fun so far... hopefully I'll get addicted to pumping myself up! I did stay off of the scale all week... but that was because I knew I was being naughty! Have a good week everyone! Darcy

Well Ladies... AGAIN... I should be happy that I lost any weight at all this week after consuming icecream left and right. I think the only thing that spared me from a gain was the activity. My weight this week... 220.5. You know... if I had just behaved myself... I would be enjoying the bliss of breaking the 220's... *bonking myself in the head*. I'm going to try and behave myself this week.... they are coming to fix my home gym this morning so pretty excited about that! Leatha... My husband was not hip about my throwing out the ice-cream... which is exactly what I'd like to do! It is my worst vice and from now on... I will insist on going to the minute mart for one ice-cream bar instead of 4 different and delicious half gallon flavors! I think I had my first ALMOST PB this weekend... I hadn't eaten for almost 7 hours after breakfast and my stomach was hungry and hurting... there was nothing else available in the truck except these horrible butter flavored pretzels... I ate 4 of these 2 inch long things to hold me over and all of the sudden... needed to get out of the truch and take a walk in the woods to find an appropriate bowing chuncks local! I had water with me and told myself... DON' DRINK... you'll be sorry... I DRANK.... SLIIIIMMMMEEEE... MORE SLIMEEEEEEEE.... but... it finally went down! THat was not a pleasant experience. Anyhoooo.... have a good week everyone! Darcy

Hey Lisa... Wednesday works for me! Darcy

YAY BETTY!!!!!! It's so good to see your pretty face! Don't worry... you are among friends and we are all losing weight together! I LOVE your Harley!!!!! My favorite color!!!
-
Well Miss Becky... that sure doesn't sound very good at all! I am so sorry you are having to wait on a return call form your Doc... I sure know how that feels! I'd stick with full liquids or very soft foods until you find out what is going on... if you can. If it gets worse... promise you'll go to the E.R....okay?????? ((((hugs)))) Leatha... get your butt in here and join the crowd! Lisa... I have never PB'd... but have had intense pain mid chest when I eat too much or don't chew well. Once I have an episode of pain from overeating... everthing is hyper-sensative no matter what type of food I eat. I have been on an ice-cream kick too... why does the darn stuff slide down so easily!?!? Marie... It's good to see you are alive... maybe not well... but if you are getting better... that is a good thing! I hope your Ex-Tom doesn't spend too much time searching for his McNuggets. Well... had too big bowls of ice-cream today... how's that for looking for a big weight-gain???? It was "light" ice-cream...lolol. Oh well... this week is looking like a bust for me... Hopefully I'll gain some control over myself soon! Darcy AKA "Double Scoop"

That's Awesome Teresa! WTG girl!!!!! Next weigh-in you're going to get safely below that number... I just know it! You should be pretty darn proud of yourself for accomplishing weight-loss while under so much stress! I hope the Wellbutrin does the trick for you... it turned me into a space cadet... so it was Zoloft for me! The nice thing about Wellbutrin is that taking it is not associated with weight-gain and it tends to curb any type of addictive behaviors. There is usually 0 sexual side effects which is also a bonus. Lisa... I'm going to work on my whining skills... My hubby will be thanking you. Can't wait to see picks of your digs when you're finished! Marie... where are ya sweetie pie??? Betty... Your appointment is just around the corner... YAY! Rebecca... How goes it for you? Michelle... WHere the heck is menopause when we need it eh? I know that's why I am craving naughty things... pretty soon my face will be erupting as well... ahhhhh... the joys of being a woman... do they never end??? Penni... Hope you made it home safe and sound and hopes and prayers being send for your friends on the island. I'm still a big butthead today... but... planning on hitting the road to run errands and then attack the yard with the lawnmower... maybe that'll cheer me up....LOLOL.

Hi Gail... You know... If you had done the surgery to correct the acid reflux problem... you would likely be having some of the same issues with eating... soooo... there shouldn't be so many questions about your eating difficulties! THis journey is about you and there isn't a reason in the world that others need to know about it... and I agree with Teresa...you should be able to eat solid foods without pain if everything is chewed well. You are protecting your privacy and there is not a thing in the world wrong with that. I also agree that this is not an "optional" surgery although I do think that thin people view it as that. Wishing you the best and hope you will be able to look at the situation as protecting your privacy instead of lying. Let folks titter and whisper... just give them an innocent smile. Darcy

Kimberly... Just wanted to send some positive vibes your way! Good Luck with your surgery and wishing you a very quick recovery! Please come and update us post-op when you are feeling up to it! (((((HUGS))))))!!!!!!!!

Don't feel bad Lisa... I am still craving chocolate and eating everything else instead! I must be PMSing or something... holy crap... I just want to eat everything! I am glad that the restriction keeps me from eating huge quantities at a time... but I seem to be managing to get quite a bit in! Rebecca... I was a little glad I did have the fancy scale... otherwise it probably wouldn't have shown a loss at all. I am having a helluva time getting myself on the treadmill too... what the heck is my problem! Anyhoo... hopefully I'll work my butt off at the cabin this weekend like I usually do... maybe that will undo some of the damage I'm doing. There is a part backordered for the weight machine we bought nearly three weeks ago... it's sitting there pretty as you please and is completely useless! I was so excited that they were coming this Wednesday to fix it... cripes! Man... just read my own post... aren't I just in the most positive mood ever! Sorry guys... I promise to be perky with my next post! Darcy
-
Really???? Awesome! Thank goodness I'm stocked up on popcorn! I have a big screen T.V.... it's going to be family video night! Seriously... if you suddenly find yourself busting out in tears for no apparent reason.... that's pretty normal too! (((hugs))) Darcy
-
Awww... and this too shall pass! It WILL get better... I promise! I had planned on going to a support group meeting the day after my surgery... LOLOLOLOL... I thought I was going to be one of those people to go out shopping afterwards... NOT. BUT... it did get better day by day so hang in there! Did you mention a GROSS hematoma???? Don't forget... my nickname is Gross Darcy and I'll be expecting a picture when that puppy opens up! J/K So sorry you are having a hard time and sending you some whomping big healing vibes! BTW... Congratulations on the loss of poundage!!!! That has to be the icing on the hematoma...yes???? Gross Darcy

Lisa... you'll have to take some pictures when you are all done for weenies like me that won't be able to make the Vegas trip! Betty... Rebecca & Lisa... our very own Harley Babes! Penny congratulations on your weight-loss and so glad you had so much fun on your B-Day trip! I love that you are sharing pics with us and you look great! I'm having a battle with food over the last few days... and so far... food is winning. I don't feel totally out of control but I am hungry more often than I'd like to be and not as restricted as I think I need to be. Hopefully the exercise will keep the pounds at bay. I went from 222 to 221.8... how's that for barely a loss??? I know I shouldn't fret... and I know it will come off eventually but for now I am pouting. :think I'll get over it soon hopefully... because I have sudden cravings and urges... want to eat everything in sight and would nearly kill for a slab o chocolate! God Help the poor soul that I find walking down the street with a Hershey Bar! ((((hugs)))) Darcy
