I'm not sure I could survive the holidays without snow???? HOWEVER... I could manage without the below zero temps... We drove around lastnight looking at all of the Christmas lights and all of the snow on the ground really sets the stage! Now... do I start packing up the tree today???? Hmmm.... maybe I'll actually wait... heck... maybe I'll leave it up all year.

Early Christmas Morning and what do I do?
nightingale2u replied to Iluvharleys's topic in The Lounge
Christmas Day???? Nahhhh... just another day to come see what the people I've grown so fond of are up to! We did all of our family gatherings yesterday and today is just about sitting on our ever growing butts. We put everone on notice that next Christmas will be an old fashioned family oriented gathering... and that we want to spend the year developing the close ties that can make Christmas a warm/ special time. This Christmas Day... I want all of you to know that you have become a very special part of my daily life and I appreciate and care about you all and hope you have a wonderful New Year! I am very thankful for the family I have here at LBT! (((Hugs))) Darcy -
Yep Carmen... I'd be happy to give you lift as long as you don't mind riding my hot rod minivan. Wait... we'll get that paint that washes off and make it love like a love/peace van! Maybe Kimberly will want to hitcha ride as well???? As long as it isn't July 1st through July 16th... we will be on out first road trip vacation.

Nancy... I'm going to have to "just say no" to the dancing naked in the mud as well... HOWEVER... I'm all for not shaving my legs and dressing like a flower child. Darcy

I think that snow is beeeeaaaauuuutttiiiifffffuuuullll... as long as I don't have to drive in it! I'd much rather play in it! Betty... you are not alone... I have the heat cranked up to 71 degrees in the house as I type. I have a dear sweet hubby that is probably half cooked from the high temps! I used to refuse to wear a coat and walked out to the mailbox in bare feet in defiance of the cold... alas... the cold is winning this year. I need to find that perfect place to live... not too cold... not too hot... Nancy... lol... hand me a slice of that menopause please...my feet are like ice! Darcy
-
I'd be there with my banner on. Ryan... I spit my hot tea all over my keyboard... thanks buddy. Darcy

Come on now girls... it's in the single digits here... now that's cold. You should have seen me out yesterday... me alllll bundled up with my Teresa hat on... honking shovel in my hand... scooping and a throwing snow! I was very warm by the time I finished. Darcy

Now see Miss Penni... if you would have posted this two weeks ago... I would have known that I am not the only one that wants to crawl into a cave until the holidays are over! I know if I lived closer... I'd be coming over and sipping nog next to your beautiful tree! Soon the Cookies and candy and feasting will all be behind us and we will all get back on track... until then... remember... you are loved. Many of us have fallen into the trap that is commercialized Christmas and it appears we would all like to recapture the simple meaning. Lisa... awesome suggestion... I'm going to go crawl under the covers right now and start planning how I will make next Christmas something simple... spiritual and special... (((((PENNI))))) Darcy

I miss you too Donali! Put that fella aside for a bit and come in here and update us! Darcy
-
(((Hugs))) Teresa ... Sooooo glad you are okay! Sorry about your car... but it can be replaced... glad the part that is irreplacable (you) came through the accicdent in one piece! Darcy
-
Betty and Melissa... that is an awesome accomplishment during the holidays! *applause* I'm not going to weigh today... Aunt Flow came to visit AND I nearly ate myself out of house and home before she got here! Sooo.... my present to myself... Not to see the damage I've done! I was hoping this fill would be my "sweet spot" ... after shoving in 2 slices of pizza in... followed by a huge slice of ice-cream cake... I'm thinking probably not! At least we had enough people over for my daughter's pre-happy-bithday celebration and there is zip cake left... WHEW! Have a wonderful holiday week everyone! Darcy

Mystery Illness/What's wrong with me?
nightingale2u replied to lauri's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Absolutely symptoms that should be addressed... especially because you are having chestpain associated with the other symptoms. I would call you M.D. and update them on your continuing problems... further testing should be done... not just a referral in regards to your knee. I would also avoid any further adjustments with your chiro for now... but that is just IMHO. Darcy -
When I worked on the surgical floor we never let post-op patients use a straw... I don't know if it is a proven fact that one swallows more air with a straw but I took the advice at face value. I still don't drink with a straw simply because I don't want to risk belching or farting more than I already do now that I'm banded...lol. My brother's would be so proud of my new gas passage abilities... too bad they don't live close by... I'd gladly lay a roaring belch on them. Darcy

Darcey... just an off topic comment... I NEVER meet up with anyone with a name similar to my own... WOW! Cool. Darcy

shake it girl! I bet you look like a million bucks! I think I would have kissed my Brother-in-law right on the top of the head for being such a sweetie! Really... you should be so darn proud of yourself and let your little light shine! Darcy

Sooooo glad to hear that you are home safe and sound Theresa Marie! Isn't it wonderful to have a great hubby! I can't imagine having gone through the surgery without my DH. Sip... Sip... Sip... no straws please.... and walk as much as you are able! Your port site will probably be quite sore but I promise that it will get better with each passing day. Welcome Home! Darcy

Why am I gaining weight 1 week post op?
nightingale2u replied to CPCarol's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Carol... they pump you full of fluids suring and after surgery... it will take your body some time to get over the stress of surgery and get rid of those additional fluids. Don't worry... pretty soon the scale will tell you a happy story. Darcy -
Oh Vera... you've given me hope... maybe someday I will be willing to get in on the family photo too! Look at all of you... what a beautiful family! Darcy
-
LOL... Halarious! Now that's an original NSV! Congrats!

Well Lauri... that's a tough one... hmmmm... Spend a day window shopping with a friend... take a lunch for two along with... Take a nice long walk without worrying how far and how long in a pretty area close by... Write yourself a letter about all of your goals and future plans, hopes and dreams... Save all of your spare change in a bottle and use that money to do something nice for yourself... Have a yard sale and use that extra money to do something nice for yourself... Darcy

It's not unusual to have hair loss after this surgery and getting adequate Protein is the best way to battle this loss. I used unjury Protein powder and it is honestly very good. The first powder I purchased was awful so I know exactly what you mean. You can find Unjury at unjury.com and I loved the chocolate and used the unflavored occaisionally in Soup and such. I would think that hair extentions would put additional weight and stress on your hair... I had a friend that had the same problem and she cut her hair from long to an adorable short style at her doctors recomendation to put less stress and weight on her hair. They do have medications available for female hair loss as well... you might want to check with your doctor if this was a problem before your surgery. Darcy
