nightingale2u replied to New Hope's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ryan and Patty... we are one big family here and I know that you will have all of our thoughts and prayers with you during this trial. I sincerely hope and pray that the surgery goes well and that Patty will once again have effective pain control. We miss you around here! Darcy -
Man Teresa... I'm just in awe at how much you have accomplished with your band... you will be hitting that 100 lb loss mark before you know it! Darcy

nightingale2u replied to LapBandFan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There is a Claritan D liquid available... I think it is intended for children but that might be an option for you. Good luck and hope you feel better soon! Darcy -

Lisa (((hugs))) and hope that you feel better soon and that the outcome will be better than your surgeon has suggested. I think it's wonderful that you are sharing your experience and you have many friends here pulling for you! Darcy -
If my husband brings home malted eggs... I am going to just cry! I LOOOOOVVVVVEEEE them! I could EASILY sit an d eat an entire bag! BTW... nice new avatars Mr. Greg and Miss Becky Lee! Darcy

*grumble* Stop it Becky Lee... I'm busy feeling sorry for myself. Congrats to Becky and Samy... WTG! Darcy

Who's Marcy? However she is... I think she should stay off of the scale too.
-
Yup... I have the little bubbles... in fact... they are bubbling up as I type. I have never stopped being hungry... but feel I have a good amount of restriction. How I wish that my band would push the not hungry button. Darcy

Cograts on the loss Michelle and good luck with your fill! I lost nuttin ... nada... zip... zilch... total standstill which is not what I hoped to see now that I've added exercise back into the mix. I was a very good girl and I bet I will be on the scale everyday this week looking for the weight-loss that should have happened! Okay... I'm over it... still going to behave and exercise... it's bound to show up on the scale eventually. Have a good week everyone! Darcy

Good Luck and wishing you a quick recovery... let us know how you are doing when you are up to it! Darcy

Jax... Even the 2cc fill didn't kick in right away... 3 weeks later it kicked in and in a big way! It's a journey trying to find the right level of restriction... mine is perfect for me at this point and am hoping it will stay that way for awhile.

Seppi... I worried about this as well... but it's really not like a "diet". After you get through your post-op stage and your band is filled... you will not be able to eat large quantities of food. There are times that I still WANT to eat but my sweet little band just won't let me. This is how it helps me... I don't have to worry about stopping myself from overeating... if I overeat... I have pain... salivation to the max... it's not pleasant... so I just don't do it anymore. Yes... I could still eat a half a gallon of icecream... so... I don't keep it in the house. It is a very effective tool and most of us here were also unable to stick with "dieting"... and here we are .... losing... losing...losing. I followed the immediate post-op eating instructions but once I was free to eat a regular diet... that is just what I did. I eat the same foods I ate before... just in smaller amounts. I hope you will find the peace that you seek before you have your surgery. Darcy

Hi Lori... welcome to the site... you will find so much support here at LBT... I can't tell you how helful it has been to me. I'm from Oshkosh, WI and had Dr. Chua for my surgeon. This is a surgery that is very easy to keep to yourself if that is what you decide to do. I tend to be an open book so I was very comfortable sharing my decision. It's a very personal choice and there would be nothing wrong with keeping it that way if that is what you are comfortable with. You may want to tell the surgeon that you choose about your insurance deadline. It can be a pretty lengthy process. Wishing you the very best with your journey... Darcy

I hope so too Leatha! Not a pleasant way to wake up at all! It sounds like you are doing all of the right things and hopefully it was just one your medications stuck in your stoma. Sometimes I almost forget about my little band until something gets stuck... boy oh boy to I remember then! Darcy

Oh yes... I can definitely relate... I spent a lot of time with my grandparents while growing up and the visits were all about food... love... food... a pinch of inappropriate behavior by gramps... and then more food to help me keep the secrets. I know this is when I developed my eating compulsions and I have lived with them every since. Now... I still have those compulsions... but the band saves me from my mind most of the time. As much as I want to eat a big plate of food... I simply can't without experiencing much discomfort. I pray that I am learning to find comfort in other ways but until then... my lovely band helps me stop. You are going to love your band Jonathan... and it will honestly help you even when those compulsions do prey on your mind.

THat's awesome Jonathan! Congrats! Darcy

Fantastic Tammy... congratulations!!! You must be walking on air! Darcy

Becky Lee... you have gotta be careful HOW you says things around Mr. Greg. I don't know if I could attend... it's that darn fear of flying thing again and the fact hat we are taking a long expensive vacation this summer to SD and Yellowstone. I'll just have to sit at home and feel all left out and pouty. I know everyone will have a great time!

Oops... sorry pat... my port is a bit tipped... kind of like me! Sorry for the visual... It doesn't hurt a bit but my husband nolonger watches. Darcy

I get a big ole bruise everytime... plus... the whole area is swollen after... they do have to dig a bit to find mine and I also bruise easily. You should have seen my post-op bruises... LOL... they were quite impressive. Darcy
