Ticked Off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nightingale2u replied to dsrjrr's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's unfortunate that some doctors are not well informed and feel they should share such misinformation as being accurate. People tend to trust what a doctor states as being gospel... You may want to ask him where he gets his information and statistics and why he has formed such an opinion? I was very lucky... my primary care physician was very well informed on most of bariatric procedures and was extremely supportive. -
People do use the chat room... but not as much as one would think? I agree... it has been pretty quiet in there lately but keep an eye out... somebody is likely to get the itch to chat sooner or later.

Major Red Flags It sounds like you have already figured out that most of the situations you have experienced are not characteristics of a healthy loving relationship. If he is treating you this way in the beginning of the relationship... what can you hope for in the future? It sounds like your prince charming is still out there waiting for you ... don't settle for less.

It's pretty difficult to have a friendly divorce... unfortunate but true. Hopefully you will both get through this with a little fighting as possible but stick up for yourself and what is fair. My divorce was fairly peaceful but that was mostly due to the fact that I was scared of my ex and agreed to anything that he suggested.

That's VERY normal. As I told the folks here before... 1-2 weeks before my first fill I suddenly lost all restriction and could have shoved a cornish game hen down whole. :hungry: Congratulations on your banding and restriction will return when you start getting fills! Hang in there!

Heather... that is completely freaking fantastic... I think a 100 lb loss picture is in order! I sent the Girl Scouts packing this year.... lol... I'm pretty sure they sent the cutest ones to my door but I sent them packing just the same! The mother in the minivan gave me a look that may have denoted the hiring of a hit man.

Lean Cuisine dinners are my favorites... I was completely stuck on the salsbury steak for a long time for lunches as it seemed to go down well. I also like the Smart Ones red beans and rice. Oh... and Lean Cuisine's chicken carbonara is really good too.

Found out something weird this week...
nightingale2u replied to pthrlisa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Holy shmoley! I agree with you on pushing when one feels something just isn't right! THere is a show on Discovery Health... it's call (I think) Diagnosis Unknown... it's a great wake up call for how some physicians either ignore or dismiss a patients concerns. Some of the patients suffer and begin to think they are crazy before a doctor finally listens and gets to the bottom of the problem. -
Yeah... definitely an animal that is begging to be killed and eaten. They poo all over up at out cabin and scratch my pretty flowers up out of my flower beds! My hubby had a turkey license last year and couldn't find a single one to shoot... go figure. Cute puppy....hope he catches one...hehehehehe.

Hey Guys... I've got to say... I was a veerrrrrryyyyyyy BAD Gone For Gooder this week. I was hoping that a challenge would be a boost to my self control but as much as I loved reading everyones bios and positive thoughts... my band remains empty and my stomach constantly full! Sooooo... I called my surgeon today and I'm going to give the fills one more shot and see if I can't get accustomed to that OMIGOD I think I'm having a heart attack pain on a constant basis. If I could do this on my own... I wouldn't have gone through all of this to get my band! Anyhoo... P'nut... I will probably not weigh this Wednesday... I will wait until I go into the surgeon's office. On a positive note... this is an awesome thread for getting to know LBT members and there is a whole lotta positive thinking going on in here... wtg everyone!

Awww... Congratulations Carmen!!!! Babies are so wonderful! If it turns out to be a boy you can just do a quick change of that name to Nathan.

I certainly wasn't up to shopping the day after surgery... it was tough making the long ride home mostly because I was uncomfortable sitting in the same position for an extended period of time. My husband stopped often to let me get out and walk around. I found that I just tired more easily and had to take it a little slower. On day five we made the long drive back for my post-op check and I decided we should go to the Milwaukee Zoo after my appointment.... I was completely exhausted after a partial day of walking around the park but boy did I sleep good that night!

Sunta... I'm with you... Unjury was the best I found... no nasty odor... mixes well... simply great! I tried a lot of powders and this was the one for me... it was worth the additional cost. www.unjury.com

Hey Vera... I know my Mom was very open and direct when I started asking questions and I've taken the same approach with my daughter. I have never had to actually approach her with information... I just wait and answer the questions she brings to me. Most of the time she just says... EWWWWWWW... why would two people want to do that!!!???!!!??? Her next question was... "How do people do that with their clothes on?" Needless to say.... she thought it was down right disgusting that anyone would want to be naked with a boy. I hope she maintains this viewpoint well into her 30's. I actually feel pretty lucky that she is 13 and still isn't showing the obvious signs of puberty other than a pimple here and there. It certainly is due to eating organic foods around here though... lol... unless raviolies are organic. J/K Good Luck!

Support Group Fees?????????????!$!$#$#$%
nightingale2u replied to NJGirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The surgeon I transferred my care to has a fee for the support groups and his patients have to pay this fee separately from the banding fee... His patients pay a fee for this and for sessions with a personal trainer. Some of his patients that had their surgery prior to the establishment of this rather large fee attend other support groups by bariatric surgical groups that do not charge. I went to my original surgeon's support group meetings in the beginning but mostly found the support and info I needed here. It is nice to interact with people face to face at times though. -
I could be going out on a limb to look like a complete idiot... but I think some scales show and "E" for ERROR if you weigh more than the scale will read. ?????? Did I get it right??? Did I? Did I?

I am WAY jealous... that would be the biggest NSV I would ever be able to think of! Even when I had a fill I still felt hunger and still had cravings... then again... I was rarely able to make it past a 1.5cc fill without having problems and the highest fill I ever had was 2ccs.

Paula... I have never regretted purchasing my treadmill... when I actually do manage to make myself exercise I am really glad it is at hand... especially with the cold winters here. Yes... it is lonely now and then... but I have actually used it quite a bit over the last 7 years. I purchased mine at Sears... it's a Nordick Track brand and it has a cushioned deck which IMO is extrememly important. My sister bought the Proform (sp?) and hers broke down with minimal use 3 years ago... mine is still going strong. There are definitely benifits to going to a gym... there is a social aspect and if one pays for a membership they might feel obligated to go. I can easily ignore my treadmill as I am doing right now...lol. Still... it has served me well. The elliptical machines are easier on your joints and may be deemed "fun" in comparison to a treadmill... that would be my pick if I could afford another monster in my basement. If you do get a treadmill... stick it in the middle of a room where you can watch TV or at least see the hustle and bustle of the home happenings. Good Luck!

Ooohhhh Donali... the hurling smilie is a good one! But still... this one:hungry: is my favorite.
-
Well... I suppose if it doesn't work for the snoring... it might have potential for other positive aspects... the throat spray... that is.
-
That's fantastic!!! Congratulations and don't foget to let us know how you are doing post-op!
-
Woo Hoo RJ!!!! THat day is going to be here lickedy split! Congrats!
-
Donali... they have foam wedges that you put at the foot of the bed... elevating the HOB may help. Not the most attractive addition to the bedding ensemble but I think it's a fairly cheap thing to try. I feel fo you as I know I have started to snore again as well. *sigh* Luckily my husband could sleep through a tornado.
