My original surgeon never did a single one of my fills under flouro... The surgeon I am using now did my first fill in his office under flouro due to my history of problems with fills... but this last fill was approached slowly so he didn't feel the flouro was necessary. I personally don't feel that is is necessary to have fills done under flouro but I do think it makes the search for the sweet spot a little smoother. I think it is also a good way to avoid having too tight of a fill and thus avoid some of the complications that can result from too much restriction. Good luck!

Ahem... there will be zip spreading of any type of seed around these parts (Wisconsin that is) It's freezing today! Already took a nap... so that is off the list.. Okay... Susan... Donna... how was your lil walk on the dreadmill? I hauled my sizable spread down into the basement and did 18 minutes even though my CD player stopped reading the CDS and I was left to try and get pumped up to the only station that would come in...country. Oh well... so I cried in my beer with Mr. Urban and hollered "Hell Yeah" with Gretchen and I feel pretty darn good. Thanks for the lil nudge Susan!

Dang... how do I get myself into these situations...lol... Okay... *stomping down to my dreadmill as you read this* I don't suppose whining right now would lessen the severity of the kick? hehehehehe. Okay...okay... I'm going...

Congrats Kathy! The shoulder pain from the gas is a big bummer... walk as much as you are able as that really is the best way to get everything moving in the right direction. In regards to the caloric intake... my surgeon focused on portion size in the beginning more than calorie counting... they did recommend utilizing Protein shakes immediately post-op to meet the protein requirements you mentioned. unjury Protein powder is awesome... it was the best that I found and post op I drank three shakes a day. www.unjury.com Once I was able to east the amount of protein required... I discontinued the Protein Shakes. Wishing you a quick recovery!

Hi Becca... Letting the car go back will be a definite bad mark on your credit... I would avoid that if at all possible. Is it possible that you could sell it for at least what you owe on it? It would be worth it to do that and save your credit history. Having bad credit makes life a bit tougher but it still wouldn't be the end of the world. Wishing you the best... sorry you are going through this...

Paula Girl... I sure know exactly how you feel! It looks like you have lots of folks lovin and supporting you and a lot of great info to work with! (((Hugs))) Penni... that is great information... I think I will have to print and study that as well!

P'nut... I weighed yesterday when I had my fill... it wasn't pretty as you can see from my stats but hopefully the numbers will start going down now that I have some restriction! Good luck to everyone that weighs-in tomorrow!

Can the hospital prevent me from driving myself home?
nightingale2u replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jean... you would be putting yourself and possibly the others on the road in danger... it's worth the price of the taxi. You may feel you are clear the next morning but I know I am still fuzy about dome of the details of that day after surgery so the anesthesia was obviously still having an effect. Good luck with your surgery! -
Another twenty pounds?????Thats it 218-157 STOP

I think perhaps your doctor was sharing his expectations??? As long as you have restriction... you burn more calories than you take in... you should lose weight. THe beauty of the band is that it can help you lose over a long period of time. While diabetes is not always weight related... I am pretty sure being obese is directly related to developing type II Diabetes. I have seen many that have been able to go off the insulin and take only the oral medication... and some have been able to stop the medication completely. Anyhoo... as you lose weight... your caloric intake has to decrease even further to lose weight. THe good news is... the smaller we get... the easier it is to move and exercise and burn the calories we do take in. Wishing you the best and it sounds like you have been a success already. -

Hang in there Carla and congrats on the surgery date! I think docs that have the liquid diet requirement are quite likely Satan's spawn. Keep us updated and wishing a safe passage to BandLand! -
Hope everything went well! Welcome to Bandland!

Trish ... you have such a great attitude about this! Just imagine how wonderful it will be to have a good level of restriction. You should really be proud of yourself for doing so well with a defective band!
-
Hi Louise... I just wanted to say how sorry I am that you've had so much trouble and I really empathize with your situation. If I were you I would opt for an experienced surgeon that is local if that is an option. Again... sorry you have had such a rough road of it.

LAP band to bypass....?
nightingale2u replied to casinocat74's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The Lap Band seemed to be a dream come true option for me as I was so frightened at the thought of the gastric bypass. In my case the band has turned out to be very expensive due to fills... unfills... fills... unfills... testing... hospitalizations to find out what is wrong... more fills...more unfills... more testing... and here I sit... no fill and gaining weight at an alarming rate. Yes... if I had it all to do over again... I would do the bypass. THis being said... the band can be a wonderful and effective WLS... it just hasn't worked well for me. -
I still have a problem with shoulder pain... I hate to disagree with the surgeon mentioned... but it typically hits me when I am hungry and have built up excessive air in my stomach. THis pain is much worse when I am filled and when it happens I am darn near useless. Owie... hurts to even breath when it happens. Shortly after eating the pain usually goes away... unless I am filled... I hope this doesn't happen for you.

Yeah... a little talking smilie could pop up. :biggrin1:

Walking is really the best way to keep things moving in one direction or the other. Gas-x didn't work for me... only walking helped. -
Yep.... I met my husband online. He's also a peach.
