    Need to start over

Hi everyone! My name is Chrissy and I hate to admit I haven't been on in a while. ( I had my surgery in September of 2012. I had lost about 20 pounds as of Christmas time but have no idea how I've done. I have had to cancel my last two appts as we've had 2 deaths in the family one month apart. My brother in law killed himself and then my grandmother died at the age of 91. I've really been struggling with my success. I'm embarrassed when people ask me how much I've lost and I answer 20 and I get a "That's it?!" I need all the help and support and motivation I can to get restarted. I have an appt with my surgeon for mid March as he's super busy. I'm anxious to get back on track. I don't own a scale and don't know if I've lost more weight these past two months. Any suggestions from anyone is appreciated. I was thinking of joining Weight Watchers in conjunction with lapband. Any do that? Can't wait to hear all your advice!!

    Need to start over

Thank you everyone for your support. I'm so glad this place exists. The encouragement is what keeps me going. So I went and joined WW and I stepped on the scale and I'm down another 19 pounds!!! For a total of 41! )) So happy. Didn't think I lost that much. )
  4. Would love to hear pros and cons about it. I really want to find a fun workout and it looks like a blast!!

    Back To Calorie Counting...

What you should take in from surgery is very different from myfitnesspal.com. They don't take into account your surgery. You should consume 1000-1200 a day.

    Finally

Brandice, I love it!! It's a great app!!!
  9. I'm so happy it went so well minus the catheter I'm a nurse as well and my experience here in the states was horrible. It strictly had to do with the hospital alone. My Dr and his staff are phenomenal!!! I'm just very disappointed in the my hospital experience. So happy to hear that your experience was above and beyond!! )
  10. I'm not sure if this is common but I really feel hungry all the time and I'm only 3 weeks post band. I fight the urge but sometimes I cave. Please I need advice on how to curb my appetite until my first fill! Thanks in advance!!

    Drinking With Meals

So far I haven't had issues with throwing up if I drink with my meal. I usually take a tiny sip if I absolutely have to. I also believe that I don't get sick because I desperately need my first fill. (I go on the 6th of November;) Reading now that you can throw up when eating if you drink I will definitely be a avoiding it

Tomorrow Is The Day...its Finally Here

Good luck and best wishes. Praying all goes well. Don't push yourself to post in six hours. I didn't FB for two days and I'm usually ALWAYS on FB. It's tougher of a recovery for some over others. Looking forward to hearing how it goes!! ))

    Stay On The Path!!

I feel a lot of people bash lap bands because they don't put forth the effort or hard work. It's a lifestyle change. You don't just get banded and miraculously the weight falls off. You have to watch what you eat and exercise. Some people feel its failed them because they are eating like they were and they now have the band and the weight is not coming off. Watch your calories, journal what you eat. It's a great tool to help you along with the band.

    My Wife's Surgery Day Hell!!!

No it was Memorial Hospital. I walked into the Preop area and they said, "Oh there you are!" Brought me back. Started admitting me then I saw my bracelet....... Wrong patient. "Oh we thought you were so and so who's running late." Ended up she was sitting in the waiting room the whole time. Just not very organized there AT ALL. Love my surgeon and my OR nurse and nurse anesthetist but other staff and floor nurses couldn't get their act together!!

    My Wife's Surgery Day Hell!!!

Your wife and I were roomies I believe. Memorial Hospital in Tampa? She was in so much pain. I felt so bad for her. I was too and knew I would've been better off at home. I had to go to the ER by my house the following night it was so bad. I met you that night when you went to see her after work. I had a horrible experience there as well. I was MISERABLE!! Please send her my best!!
  16. Did you have a lot of periods of shortness of breath? It's hard to breath a lot more these days. I'm 6days post op. Any and all advice is appreciated. Thank you.
  17. Hi everyone!! Thank you for all the thoughts and concerns!! I'm home now. A brief stay in the ER due to elevated D-Dimer test (clot somewhere) but with a CT scan showing no clots in my lungs. I do have fluid in the lower lobes of my lungs. So I just need to take deeper breaths and get up and move around more which I have been today. )) Onward in this journey is the only place that I'm going. )))
  18. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and advice. Hubby is taking me to the drs now. I will let you know what they say. Good thoughts and prayers please.

    What Your Non-Health Reason?

Mine is for my family. I feel like they miss out on so much because I'm always so tired and exhausted to do anything. They are my world.
  20. Ok so this is a HUGE adjustment for me. I'm happy I've made the decision and got the lap band but I'm also having some difficulty with recovery. I've been on chronic pain management for back pain for 2 1/2years and have now stopped so I can pursue the lifelong dream to be a healthier mom and wife. I'm having a hard time with the post op pain from the band and hiatal hernia repair. Has anyone had similar recovery issues? I'm so happy this forum is out there!! Looking forward to all the support and friendships.
