pwnykat replied to bakawaka's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thats no good! I lost 20 pounds so far on my pre-op Optifast diet. 4 weeks down, 2 weeks to go. I hope you start losing soon! -
woot Surgery twins! 17 sleeps to go! Although because of time differences, I'll be getting snipped the same time as the Nov 29 bunnies...

breathe, and hit a pillow. sometimes just crying helps release frustration and anger when there is no cause of it. I get seriously wacked out PMS where I am an emotional wreck. hormones EVERYWHERE. Having a cry and a cuddle with someone helps too. Someone who knows that your growling at them because you can't help it and that you dont mean it, who will just cuddle you and say yes shhh its ok.

congrats new bro's and sistas, and those who have crossed the line. I'm so thankful for all the experiences being shared and have been following everyone's progress closely. I'm getting frustrated that my surgery is so far away and that I have to lose so much before it. Its driving me nuts. I'm halfway through my optifast diet, and have 3 weeks to go. Yes I have lost weight but I keep getting cravings. I have been fighting the cravings with frozen raspberries, but that isnt fish and chips, or pizza. I just know if I do eat the crap my body will rebel like it did last time I gave into cravings.... I'm so looking forward to being on the losing side. I have been cleaning and rearranging my house, buying ideal size clothing, and spoiling my fat cat rotten to keep myself active, but its annoying that I have to wait, and that if I slip up in the next 3 weeks it might not even happen. I'm getting really anxious (which for someone who already has an anxiety disorder is pretty rough). Not only is all this going on, but the surgeon also said I needed a Mirina put in pre op so that I wouldnt have serious issues with iron deficiency. so organising that has been annoying too. I have to get an ultrasound on tuesday before insertion on Thursday... adding to the cost and the hassle. This is all self funded (well funded by a loan) so the mounting costs plus the fact I have to take leave without pay from work is really starting to mount... Just needed to vent. Guess this is why my surgeon wants me to have therapy...

Cheese can be quite high fat though, so watch that.

I'm so in the same boat. Onto week 4 of my 6 week Optifast diet... But it's not so bad now. The coffee and banana flavour shakes are awesome blended with ice, and really filling. I would not recommend the vege Soup... It leaves it's smell on anything you use for it- really off putting. Haven't tried the chicken soup but apparently it's pretty good. I am also petrified the surgeon will say no... It's terrifying. He hasn't given me a number, but the nut said about 15kg to lose. On track having lost 8kg so far at the midway point. But it's hard not to get complacent...

Some moisturiser, tissues and a dirty magazine?

sheesh all you frisky people! I'm still pre-op but the pre-op diet has shut down my libido completely... don't know what I'll be like post op, but at least I don't have anyone elses "needs" to consider in this way...

TOFU! so yum if you cook it right. try the silky tofu in a Soup. My fav tofu dish I can't have anymore... deepfried tofu covered with sweet chilli sauce, pineapple and cucumber... nom nom nom. But don't do that. and don't forget the humble egg. and fiiiiiiiiish

I have some egg protein which is 100% egg Albumen which I mix into stuff with my Benefiber. tip though for egg based protein: don't heat it unless you actually want it to cook... its powdered egg (but refined) so will cook like egg too.

I'm Not A Huge One For Motivational Speakers... But
pwnykat posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My sister linked me to this guy, and while I dont agree with everything he says, some things really stuck with me, for example his admission that "I might seem mild-mannered, measured and disciplined from the outside but not too far below the surface lives an eating machine that’s capable of caloric suicide and dietary behaviours which belie my alleged intelligence and knowledge"... Yup, Caloric suicide is definately familiar... food I don’t need. I will not reward myself with food. I will not medicate with food. I will not allow situations, circumstances or other people to influence or dictate the way I eat. [this I have lots of issues with!] I will not rationalise poor eating. I will not be a food martyr; I will simply do what I need to. I will not lie to myself or others about my eating behaviours. I will not eat in secret. I will not repeat the mistakes of my past. I will not allow my mind or emotions to sabotage my physical potential. This can be found in the blog on eating consciously http://www.craigharper.com.au/exercise-weight-loss/eating-consciously/ Lets face it, if that worked on its own, I wouldnt be preop for this surgery. But it is helping me through this pre op stage (8 kgs down today!). -
Need To Know What ? To Ask Surgeon.
pwnykat replied to amcdowell779's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Vitamins- my dr has said he can prescribe general vits but would prefer me to take the ones they source from the states called bariatric advantage. They're specially formulated for post gastric surgery. Maybe have a look into those -
3 Years Post Op And Need Support
pwnykat replied to LisaMiller's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Have you thought about using a wii and the weights attachments for upper body workout? Even if you can't do what you normally do, you can get your heart rate up and work on the biceps . Welcome aboard. I'm post op (operation at 30 nov) and trying to bring down my weight otherwise the dr won't operate... Getting exercise has been so hard. What did you do preop or just post op as exercise back when you first had the surgery? -

First Appointment...
pwnykat replied to Nicolebloves's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my three in a row. An hour with the nurse, then an hour with the nutritionist, then an hour with the shrink... BAM, BAM, BAM... was good, meant I only had to take a half day off work instead of over 3 days -
I'd be keen on knowing too!
