I'm doing good. Started eating real food this week and so far so good. I'm down 22 pounds since before preop diet 12 since surgery. I'm having a little trouble getting my protein in but I'm working on it. I joined gym last week but at work I had some really sharp pains around where port is so I figured I would take it easy and start really slow. I'm looking forward to exercising. I know it's working because I took my wedding ring off and cleaned it today, first time I could take it off in years!!

I finished my 6 month pre-op diet and all my pre-op stuff and my paperwork was submitted to Triwest today so now I'm just waiting and hoping. I know the chances of it going through the first time is doubtful but I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping it gets approves. Wish me luck!

Approval went through and I finally have a date. It's going to be a little complicated because my hubsband will be away and I have to travel by myself to have my surgery. Thanks goodness I have good friends to help with kids and it may be more relaxing recovering in a hotel for a couple days. The only downside is that I have to tell more people than I origionally wanted to. I'm so excited to have this done. I start pre-op diet monday!!

I am so bummed. I had to have emergency gallbladder surgery a couple days ago so now they moved my surgery to may because my doc is out of town in April.

March 2013 Surgery Dates?
cgwife replied to ShannaS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So excited, my surgery is March 18th!!! -
YAY! I got approved already! I knew I met the requirements I was just nervous about the 6 month diet documentation. Excited for surgeons office to call and set up a surgery date. Thank you to everybody on here, I haven't posted much but when my six months seemed to be dragging I would get on here and read about all the successful people and I knew it was worth the wait. And now I can say that six months did go fast.

I'm nervous about the change in insurance too. I'm hoping to be done with my preop stuff and aproved before they change but I'm going to be cutting it really close.

I have triwest. Tricare prime remote and I'm 3 months into my 6 month weigh ins. I got excited about hearing people getting approved so quickly but I wasn't so lucky. Good luck!!
-
Unfortunately tri west requires 6 months of weigh ins with your Pcp. From what I'm understanding on these forums triwest is the only tricare that requires this. Ive tried calling several times and even asked my surgeons office if they knew any way around this and they said no triwest was pretty strict. I was so bummed when I found this out because I was ready to get it done asap and I thought my 6+months of weight watchers would work. On the bright side I'm three months into it and most of my other preop stuff is done. I'm just taking this time to get myself prepared but I'm very anxious to get it done. If you do hear a way around the 6 month wait please share. I have tricare prime remote. Good luck!!

Going For My Consultation On The 24Th- Tri Care
cgwife replied to JennaSoto's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm starting to go through my pre-op stuff and so far the only thing that i'm dissapointed in Tricare is that I have to see my PCP for six months and other regions do not. Just a little set back and I'll stick with it. Tricare had been good about aproving pre-op stuff so far. -
Going For My Consultation On The 24Th- Tri Care
cgwife replied to JennaSoto's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm going for my consult on the 17th and I have tricare west. I hear the different areas are different but I'm nervous about needing 6 months of dieting with a weigh in with primary physician once a month. I have proof of over six months of weight watchers but not sure if they'll acept it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If I have to wait 6 months I will but I'm hoping not to. As far as I know this is only a Triwest requirement but I'll let you know if I get approved. Good luck!!! -
I've just started the approval process for tricare so I have a few questions. As far as the 6 month diet goes does anybody know if they will accept a letter from my primary doctor that says I've been on weight watchers for 6 months or do they want to actually see the 6 months of weigh ins with the doctor. Also I'm Tricare prime remote and I got denied to get my travel paid for because it's elective. Has anyone else had their med travel paid for? I know tricare can be inconsistant sometimes so I was just curious. Thank You

It seems Tricare varies depending on what region you are in. I have TRIWEST and I found this " beneficiaries must have a record of failed non-surgical weight-loss attempts. Commercial diet programs, such as Weight Watchers ® or Jenny Craig®, are acceptable forms of non-surgical treatment if the beneficiary met with a physician on a monthly basis." This is what tricare told me when I called them too. I have had 6 months of weight watchers but I haven't weighed in with my physician every month. I was just hoping I could take my weight watchers information to them and have them write a letter. I guess I'll try it and see what happens. I'm just hoping I don't have to do six more months but I will if I have to.
