Jenna, I waited until I was 6 weeks post op to do any kind of exercise. The nutritionalist I had with Dr. Ortiz was not Dr, Miranda a year ago and she told me specifically not to do any exercise until I was on solid foods, she did not want me to become light headed or burn too much lean muscle mass until I was eating enough protein and to besure I was healed all the way. Dr. Miranda may give different instructions then the nutritionalist I had.

Hi Everyone, I just wanted ot share with you some very exciting news. I had sent my before and after pictures to Dr. Ortiz and his staff about a month ago just to show him my progress. 3 weeks ago I go an email from his office asking me if I would be interested in allowing Dr. Ortiz to use my pictures in an info-mercial he is in the process doing on the Lap Band. How awesome is that? He is very pleased with my success in the last year and thinks my pictures will be very motivating for others who are considering the surgery. Iam SO FLATTERED AND HONORED!!! I gave this great thought over the weeks and discussed it with my husband, family, friends and a few here on LBT and I am going to sign the release form they sent me and allow Dr. Ortiz to use my pictures Iam just 15 lbs from goal..amazing, who would of thunk in a year I would be down 85 pounds and from a size 22 to a 12 in pants and from a 2x/3x to an xl/l in shirts. I LOVE MY BAND!!! I just thought I would share my good news with all of you who have been so supportive to me for the last year.

I go back to Ortiz for my fills. I have not had a fill any other way so I do not know how it is without flouro, all I can say from my personal experience is that with the flouro comes 2 things, peace of mind seeing and knowing your port and band are where they should be andquicker restriction . I also was told by Martinez with fluoro the can be more accurate on your fills and be a little more agressive. I have had 3 fills and am at 2.5 and have great restriction. It has been said by Dr. Martinez that many U.S doctors are a little more conservative on their fills, & many do not use fluoro which is why they are conservative so they do not make you too tight they have no gage to go on. In my opinion it is a personal preference. I like flouro I feel safer and more comfortable with it.

Call her back and get the name of the product that she is reffering to from GNC Ask her exactly what is the liquid diet, is it Protein drinks, full liquids, Clear Liquids? Once you get that info you may find something less expensive to substitute the $200 version for.

When are you going for yourfill? Are you going back to Dr. Ortiz, if so let me know maybe I can meet you there, I live fairly close to his office and will be going in for my year check-up

I just had the discussion with my husband about how many men prior to my surgery would not give me the time of day, now it is a whole different story, those same men want to be my friend and now notice me and talk to me, all I can say is to myself is " Shallow". Even if I was not happily married, do they actually think I would be interested in them after how they treated me when I was heavy? I think NOT!

I drank the pre mixed protein drinks in the can they tasted the best to me and were the easiest. I love the Atkins Advantake Chocolate Royale blended with lots of ice and a scoop of peanut butter, I beleive the Atkins cans have 20 grams per can. They did not taste chalky or bad at all..more like chocolate milk! I have heeard Unjury is a good protein powder , I never tried it.

I love Peanut butter and chocolate, so one of my favortie protein smoothies was an Atkins Advantage protein shake with a scoop of peanut butter blended with lots os ice, It was so good and so filling. Loaded with protein too

I have been fortunate, so far I am ok in the loose skin, my arms are the only area that Iam concerned about. I just keep doing my free wieghts and hoping for the best

Thechatrooper, there are other posts here on LBT about this same topic with lots of responses. I have been lucky, my husband has always treated me like a queen and very attentitive to me and loves me fat or thin and thinks Iam the most beautiful woman in the world, he just reaps the benefits more so now being 85 lbs lighter. I will see if I can find the old threads and bump them for you

Eileenja As your journey progresses you will notice all kinds of funny sounds coming from your stomach and from your throat. It is the stangest thing and sometimes comical . My family gets a kick out of the sounds I make now. Luckily for me I have not been anywhere in public where people have noticed, it is mainly at the dinner table with my family. You are normal
