    1st Fill and very restricted

It could be, this is why some Dr's reccomend 24-72 hours of liquids after a fill. Everytime I got a fill I would stop at McDonalds on the way home from Mexico and I would get a chocolate milkshake ..the same thing happend to me, it finally learned to drink slower. The next day after my fill was always better. You will adjust to the new sensation, just sip slowly for now but when it comes to solids in a day or2 and you can not keep food down, definately you may be too tight

    Scale obsession!!

This is exactly the reason I created this challenge. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=2541 Yoo many of us are obsessed with the scaleand what it says, since I started this challenge back in July of last year, I have learned to not let thesclae dictate my success. There are so many other possitive things that have happened to me in the last year since having my band other then losing the lbs. It is amazing how successful I have beeen and only weighing once a week,It is so stress free, I love it! There have been times where I did not lose for weeks, but never got discouraged becasue my sizes were going down, Maybe you should consider joining the weekly scale challenge with us. It does work!

    Houston, we have a problem

Eventually the soft food syndrome will catch up with you and your weight loss will slow down, since soft foods are higher in calories and travel through the band much quicker cthen solids you will eventaully find yourself hungrier quicekr as time goes on. In my opinion if you can not eat solids, then you are too tight, the band was designed for solid food intake not soft foor intake , according to the Inamed handbook I got, it clearly states " your meals should be high in protein and vitamins. Solid food is more important then liquid food or soft food" . I do not mean to discourage you but to enlighten you with the facts. Not being able to eat solids is not healthy and not reccomended for us bandsters. Try starting off slow with a food like tuna fish or some dark meat chicken . Have you tried eating foods more solid then pudding? If so what happens?

    Need help with portions

I have never measured my portions, I eat protein first then veggies but not all of the time I'd say 80% of the time.. I eat until I get the signal, for me it is an ice cream headache... so I must be doing something right in a little shy of 14 months post op I'm 8 lbs from goal.
  15. La_madam

unable to eat much! is something wrong?

3 days post op, all that you are feeling is normal ...
  16. La_madam

    Sugar Free? Why?

I was never told sugar free during the liquid phase.
  17. Congratulations, I am happyto hear you had a good experience and now are banded. Best of Luck to you

    new to forum

I agree it is odd to take out her band so soon after surgery, many have this problem and it is usually caused from swelling from surgery. .., once the swelling goes down all should be normal. Who is your Dr.?
  19. La_madam

    Post Op Thrush

Are you sure it is thrush? The reason I ask is because when I was on the liquid phase post op, I got a horrible looking white film on my tounge from just liquids. I went to my PCP thinking it was thrush and it was not. All the liquids made me have a horrible taste in my mouth aswell as the film on my tounge.
  20. With a barium swallow in regards to erosion the barium will flow over the band and not through it is what I was told by my Dr.

about to be banded...and I am so scared

You sure will! Being scared and nervous is normal, you wouldnt be human if you werre not experiencing these emotions. Three months from now you will be grateful for your band

    Ridiculous thing we?ve believed

Biting my fingernails would give me worms and eating raw spaghetti would give me worms were two of my mothers favortie things to tell me. Oh and If I looked crossed eyed for too long my eyes would stay like that

My husband needs the band too...

In my opinion, him seeing your progress is the best thing to make him change his mind and want to take a step to a healthier person. I have found the more you nag or the more you try to tell someone what to do, the more they rebel. Many of my friends were skeptical, 2 of them have been banded since me after seeing my progress. My husband is 6'1 200 lbs at best, he does no exercise and eats whatever he wants & smokes. I was on his case for the last 6 months about eating healthier and stop smoking and exercise with me, he never did, now I just go about my business and eat healthy, I walk in theevenings, since I have gotten off his back and he sees me moving in the right direction to a healthier life he has decided to join me and walk with me and eat healthier and he has really cut back on his smoking. I have elearned I need to worry about me and my health and not my husbands, he knows I love him very much but he has to be the one who wants to change becasue if he is doing it for me, it will not last. He has to want to do it for him!

    beef jerky

I enjoy the Turkey Jerky , I get a big bag from Costco. It doesnt seem to be as salty as the beef jerky. But I will eat beef jerkey also. Its a great source or protein, but you got to chew like mad.

    NO fluoro!!! Yea!!! :)

There is usually air in your tubing and many experienced band doctors will extract all of the air before your first fill. It is only needed the one time at your first fill, you will know it when the extract the air from the tubing too, it is an awful pressure type pain like an elephant on your chest as he is doing it. If your Dr. does not do this, this can explain for what you think is a loss of Fluid. If there is air, and then they fill it will be a false read when you pull out all the fluid the next fill and so on. My Dr. pulls out the air and the threee fils I had were righht on the numbers when he removed it. I agree with Delarla about the flouro thing.. Fluoro is good for peace of mind and to see your band and port is still in place and your pouch is not stretched.
