Did anyone else have this problem?
La_madam replied to P.T. loser's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Patty, the first six weks is about healing , do not worry if you do not lose weight.I was told by my Dr. that any weight loss duirng the pre fill stageis a bonus. The band is designed to be filled to lose weight there are some of us who were fortunate to lose weight during the 6 week post op phase and some do not, this does not mean you will be a failure or theband will not work for you. Hang in there it will happen and the band will work for you. You do have to do your part though Good Luck -
Yep you are normal, as the swelling goes down it becomes easier to drink more liquids. Don't worry about drinkingto much liquids. I am 14 month post op and I still worry my port has moved, you are normal, I think most of us worry about that. Just do not over due it in the next week or so and you should be fine, let your incisions heal Congratulations on being banded and your weight loss

I live in Orange County California and my surgeon is in TJ , Iam about an hour and a half from my surgeon with no traffic. I have had 2 emergencies since being banded and have gotten to my surgeon with no problem.

I thought puree's were anything that went through a food processor sort of the texture of pudding or applesauce, like mushy foods, baby foods In my opinion I do no think boars head turkey is a pureed food unless you put it in the blender or food processor.. I could be wrong.

New, searching and excited!!!!

Hi & Welcome to LBT I did go to Mexico for my surgery and I am extremely happy with my surgeon and my band and my weight loss to date. I had surgery 14 months ago. There are several experienced Dr.'s in Mexico, are you planning on going to TJ or to Monterey? Both have very experienced and well respected Dr's. The key to going to Mexico, is to make sure that if you live out of state and do not plan on going back to Mexico for fills & aftercare that you arrange for a Dr. in your area ahead of time prior to surgery who will see you as his or her patient. Many U.S. Dr.'s will not take on patients who were banded in Mexico, and if they do they will usually charge more, liability reasons I guess. I have seen several bandsters go to Mexico and not line up aftercare in their home town to only find out they could not find a Dr. to see them and were forced to go back to TJ, you need a Dr. in your area in the event of an emergency. Iam fortunate I live very close to the TJ border where my Dr. is, so I go to him for fills, aftercare and any emergency situations. Best of luck to you , glad you found LBT it is a great site full of wonderful supportive people -
Yes I agree with Meagan, you need ot go on liquids for atleast 24 hours after you throw up, it becomes a vicious cycle if you do not, your esophagus is most likely inflammed and swollen, also remember that frequent vomiting can result in slippage. If you are having trouble with PBing or vomiting, please wait to see if it gets better by doing liquids before you get a fill, you are asking for troulbe if you don't. Most Dr's will not igve a fil lif they know you are having such frequent PB's, to them it is a sign you could be too tight all ready, please becompletely honest withyour Dr. in regards to this matter. I had a PB so bad and did not do liquids for 24 hours like I was told too and I regret it to this day, I continued to eat everyday and I had the worst case of esophagitis for2 weeks I was on nothing butliquids and it was very painful.

Hi Sarah,& Welcome! there are several members here from Oregon area, which Iam sure will reply to this post you have found a great site for support here at LBT. I wish you new founded success with your band, glad to see you have not given up

You got to let it go, eventually they will come around, this is about you and no one else, you do not need to be validated by anoyone else nor do you need anyones apporvla or acceptance, he soundslike he is just jealous, you know the old saying misery loves compnay, he is miserable and does not want you to be happy, he wants you miserable right by his side.I have a dear friend who is morbidly obese and about 18 yrs older then me, more of like a mother to me, she was supportive of my decision but now is trying to lose weight on her own, she has seen my progressand is jealous andadmits it openly and finally wants to change her eating habits and lifestyle, she will not get the band but atleast she has changed her mind about losing weight.

Jonathan, How true those words are for me! Thanks for putting it into prespective for me

I was given cold solid jello in the hospital and was told by my Dr. it was OK, actually it was a lifesaver for me, it actually made me think I was actually eating real food while on the liquid phase. I loved the pineapple & peach jello
-
I snack, sometimes too much I have lots 92 lbs in 14 months and have went from a size 22 to a 10

Erosion is 1-3% Slippage occurs more in the beginning, so it isvital to stick to your Dr.'s post op diet instructions, the band needs to anchor in, scar tissues needs to build so it will stay in place. Eating solids too soon after surgery requires too much digestion so soon, digestion has lots of rumbling , tumblim, churnin, NOT a good envvironment for a new band to be able to set into place

Esmeralda, it never failed for me, whenever I thought I was in need of a fill, I would schedule it 2-3 weeks in advance and like WHAM the minute I hung up the phone from making the appointment I suddenly had instant restriction, every time, I have cancelled fill appointments 3 times because of this but Yes it could be true that you have more restriction on your period, It has happpend to me several times. Here is a good site to read over that may help you decide http://lapbandtransformation.com/Adjustments.htm Hope this helps

Hi Christina, I'm glad to hear you are improving. It's so nice to see others who have doctors who communicate with them when there are fears and worries. Sounds like your Dr. is very good at keeping the lines of communication open. Peace of mind is a great feeling ..Thanks for asking about me reaching goal yet but to answer you NO I havent, Iam actually going in to be refilled( but not to 2.5 like I was before surgery) on June 20th so I can reach that goal with out struggling. Working the band without a fill is challenging at times. Somedays I do great and other days I don't. Iam all healed up from my bowel obstruction surgery so Dr. Ortiz called me and told me I could have a fill anytime. Here is to conituned healing and feeling better each and every day for you

DEPRESSING...weight gain after liquids
La_madam replied to HamuChan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Give yourbody a couple of days to adjust to the solids, it happened ot me to and I lost it right back after a few days, it is totally normal, besides this first 6 weeks is for healing only, any weightloss during this time is a bonus, Do not sweat it -
Safety-fluoro vs. no fluoro...opinions please
La_madam replied to DtDtKty's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Personally for me, I like flouro, it is peace of mind being able to see the foriegn object in your body and being able to see that everything is where it should be. I like knowingmyport has not flipped, my band had not eroded, mypouch has not dialated or stretched, or my band has not slipped..I also like knowing he hit my port and did not miss with his neele of the saline, just my feelings on it
