Kathy, Im sorry to hear you are going through this, It sucks! But you are being a very responsible bandster and going in to have some fill removed. I hope once you get some removed you get relief. How much fill did he give you? What is your current fill level? Maybe if he backs it down .2 cc's you will still have good restriction but yet still be able to eat and lose weight. It is amazing that such a little ammount removed can make such a huge difference in comfort and still have restriction. Let us know how it goes tomorrow Good Luck

Sounds to me like you may be too tight also Here is an excerpt from the Inamed handbook that is valuable to your situation With the Lap Band system in place, you should be able to eat only small ammount so the food you eat should be as healthy as possible. Do not fill your stomach pouch with :junk: food that lacks Vitamins and other important nutrients. Your meals should be high in Protein and vitamins and low in carbs. solid food is more important then liquid food or soft food. The lap Band system will have little or no effect if you only eat liquid or soft food. It passes through the stomach outlet very quickly and does not make you feel full. Here is another excerpt form the book If the adjustment (fill) results in too tight of a stomach opening you could have a hard time eating most foods, sometimes this causes people to avoid solid foods. They may drink liquid meals or soft food meals and this may result in weight gain. A band that is too tight may cause reflux symptoms and can also cause frequent vomiting. I hope this info helps you

Vines, I have the opposite. I have OCD when it comes to clean and clutter, I can not keep anything. I throw everything away in fear of clutter. My family wishes I was a horder. Nothing lasts in this house, if it hasnt been used in a month it is in the trash, if it is left out to clutter my house it is thrown in the trash, my kids have learned to pick up after themselves in fear of mom throwing it away. It is a habit Iam trying to break, when I was on the Paxil for it , it worked great I did not throw things away , I was able to let it go.but I gained 70 lbs which is why Iam here today.

Do you think you'll be satisfied when you reach goal?
La_madam replied to Parvathi's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm satisfied and Iam not even at goal. For me it is not just the physical transformation of weight loss but all that goes with it, like feeling better, more energy, less aches and pains, smaller clothes. doing more with my family & friends, more social etc.. I still see myslef as being obese when I look in the mirror but my size 10's tell me Im not obese any more, its hard to get away from it after so many years, but I know Iam healthier and happier then I have been in my entire life To me that is satisfaction -

Iam the worst to give advice on exercise but here is what I have been doing lately 3xs a week I seem to exercise more on the summer months. stationary bike 20 minutes free weight for my arms every night when I watch TV, for 10 minutes you'd be supirsed at the difference it makes in toning the flab and sculpting your arms In this heat I have been swimming in place with bouys and I have arm buoys to do my arm exercises 20 minutes a day is all it takes, somethin is better then nothin We all have excuses not to exercise, I have 3 boys, runnin them around town during thesummer, I run a business and I take care of this household and all it's duties but I find the time, I deserve it, even if it is just my arm exercises.

Iti s most likely your esophagus is irritated and swollen from the whole PB event My Dr. reccomends 24-48 hors of liquids after a PB I did not listen once to him and I sufferend miserable for 2 weeks with the worst case of esophagitis. Now I know better. You dietician advised pushing it down with a diet coke? OH MY I would die if I tried to do that, for one liquids make me back up when food is stuck and then to drink carbonation to push it through I would want to die of the pain..OUCH

If we all worried about statistics, in everything out there in the world we would all be dead by now. I do not base what I do on any statistics I will love to come back to this post in a year and a half to prove the 35% wrong though. it has been 15 months and I have lost 93 lbs

Are you sure she is a true friend? Sounds like she is just an acquaintane because a true friend would not act that way. Do the two of you hang out outside of work? Or is it just a work friendship? I have a co worker here at my job who is the same way towards me, I do not let if affect me or my successs. Those are her issues as to why she can not express happiness for me. I do not need her to validate me or who Iam.Dont let it get to you, focus on you, doesnt seem like it is a big loss if she continues this behavior towards you. I'm sure you have other TRUE friends who will be there for you.

From what I was told Distilled Water is very good for you, both my personal trainer and my PCP told me it is the best kind of water to drink for weight loss. Cant verify it though since I drink Aquafina, it is the only water that tastes pure to me.

Real food stays in your pouch longer and makes you less hungrier. You stay full longer. liquids go right through the band and make you hungry again quicker. The key is to eat hard Proteins so they stay in the pouch longer. You will not eat as much. If you drink your calories you will never be full since the go right through and you will most likely take in more calories by drinking your meal vs. eating them Here is a quote from the Inamed handbook: "Solid food is more important than liquid food. The Lap Band system will have little or no effect if you eat only liquid food. Liquid food passes through the stomach outlet quickly and does not make you feel full."

I have Cable here and rarely have problems

I have been banded for 15 months and still experience on again off again port pain, all I can say is that my port is in tact, and working well. It could also be some scar tissue build up, this is what my Dr. told me. If your port has not flipped and is easily accessible when going for fills, try not to worry if the pain is not unbearable.

Take Charge, this is your body and your band. You desreve to have a Dr. who knows wha the or she is doing. If not satisfied then move on a find one who does! Good Luck tomorrow

That is a good question. I was unfilled before mine but I was also going into surgery so that may have made a difference.

What a true statement. Lisa, It thanks for this post. I admire you for starting it. I'm very happy to hear you finally have a doctor who truly cares about you. You have been through so much. It's awesome you can be so honest with him and not be ashamed or in fear he will be upset with you. You do need to be proud of your accomplishment thus far. Losing 60 lbs with no fill, no port is truly amazing, you are doing something right. Absolutely none of us eat like perfect bandsters or all of us would be at goal by now. I know for myself I struggle on a regular basis. I wake up every morning with a renewed desire to eat healthy, but never seem to make it through the day. It's rare I eat like a perfect bandster for an entire day. I know we have had our differences but I want you to know I truly wish you the best and am so glad you are feeling better about your situation.

Other people set goals. I set traps.
La_madam replied to Alexandra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Alex you are not alone in battling this demon. I speak for myself when I say that if I start my day with any kind of carbs, all I do all day long is think of food usually carb/sugar loaded foods. Could it of been the almonds that set off this frenzy for you? Just a thought. I think it is great that you have set a mini goal for yourself to reach by August 10th. I know you can do it despite the excuses you think you are making for yourself You have done a fantastic job, even though you say you set no goals for yourself I think you have accomplished the major goal by being more healthy and happier. That is a victory. I did not come into this journey either to look like a supermopdel when I was finished, I just wanted to be healthier and feel better all around, the band has help me to accomplish it! Enjoying food and still losing weight, how awesome is that? Be proud girlfriend even if you have a bad day -
Hi Terry, glad to see you here again

Swimming is my exercise of choice, less strain on the joints, and my muscles do not hurt the next day. I use water buouys, water weights on my ankles, all kinds of water toys to exercise
