Need easy appetizer for potluck on Wednesday
La_madam replied to Road Queen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There is a thread here with a great fantastic Crab Dip Recipe It was made by one of our bandsters Carol at the last Vegas Bash, it was a hit! http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=4160 OR Rasberry Chipotle over cream cheese served with crackers -
I agree with the others, start the bandster mentality start taking smaller bites, chewing chewing chewing and not drinking with your meals and waiting an hour after to drink, protein first, veggies , fruits then carbs, I you can do well with all of this it will benefit you greatly after you have your band

How do you get fiber in your diet?
La_madam replied to Iluvharleys's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Next month in September is Pear season, lots of different variety of pears out there and they are one of the best ways to get in your fiber, they are loaded with it...a pear a day keeps constipation away -
Cute Cute hair..I love it! You look great!!! I dont see those extra lbs either.
-
The hair loss diminishes over time, many of us experienced the same thing up to 6 months post op. Now my hair loss is very minimal.

I ride my stationary bike everyday for 4 miles, I started last week and Iam committed to this. For motnhs though I have used 5 lb dumbells for my arms and do them every night while watching t.v. for 10 minutes and it has made a huge difference. I suscribe to "FITNESS" magazine and every month there is all kinds of helpful exercises to tone up legs, tummy, arms, butt as well as so much other helpful info for me.

Thanks Lisa for starting this thread, it was getting a bit confusing for me. Are all of the people mentioned above a for sure thing, they have committed and are going for sure?

What is the best post operation pain killer?
La_madam replied to Buffy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You may not even need a pain killer..all I used was liquid tylenol My pain was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be and haveheard the same from many others. Everyones pain threshold is different , I know but you may be happily suprised that your pain is not what you expected. You may have a hard time getting the vicodin down due to the swelling in the area. I would definately take what your Dr. prescribes and if it is not enough for you then speak to him about something stronger. -
I must of missed that too..I'm so bummed Was looking forward to seeing you again Penni Are you still planning on going to the East Coast Bash Sept 24th Penni?
-
Never heard of him, I live in Orange County Welcome to LBT, hope you find lots of support here

Each day gets better.. the swelling for me lasted for 3 weeks but each day was easier & easier I could feel the swelling go down each day. Hang in there

Mae, so glad to hear everything went well for you. Thanks for updating us -
Babs, glad you are home and recovering..get some rest and dont over do it! Cant wait to see pics

GUess this is why so many doctors reccomend liquids for atleast 24 hours after a fill to let things settle. Your not dumb , youjustlistened to your Dr. which anyone would do.Go on liquids for atleast 24-48 hours, you need ot rest your stoma and esophagus. If you continue to eat it will be a vicious cycle and youwill most likely continue to PB since you are most likely swollen from the fill and the PB you had

I had both Esophagitis and Gastritis, I am now free of both of them. I was on Prevacid for 20 days for the esophagitis and Prilosec for 2 months for the gastritis. Many people think Reflux and Gastritis are one in the samewhen in fact they are totally different but do have some similar symptoms. I had an endoscopy to detectmy gastritis. Call your Dr. Stress can make the gastritis flare up. Do a search on gastritis andreflux and you will se how similar but yet different they are. There is a threadhere I started back in November titled Esophagitis, do a search on it , maybe it will help you some

Flipped port In June, Clogged in August GRRRRRR
La_madam replied to Janieh123's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Think of it this way...without your banbd would you have lost 54 lbs since Jan 2005? Doubtful I'm sure! So you have had a few problems, I'm sure you knew their were risks and the possibiility of complications before you had the surgery right? I have had my share of problems to..I had complete bowel obstruction surgery since my band, I'd take what you had happen any day over what I had happened, I almost died. I also had esophagitis. I'm sorry you have had these problems. I do not wish them on anyone, but problems do arise. Be thankful they are not worse -
I'm married with 3 boys. I have a restaraunt. I love baseball 2 dogs & 1 cat

Hey everyone I just wanted to post on Babs and her surgery today...I just got off the phone with Babs and everything went well, her surgery was 4 hours long and she is doing great and resting, she had her eyes, thighs, & tummy done and some moles removed. When she woke up she was in excrutiating pain in but is now on morphine and comfortable. She sounds great!

This is why I do not weigh myself everyday anymore If Iam lucky I weigh once a week, I like it like that. .. The numbers on the scale should not get you down or dictate your success with the band , think of all of the other things good that have happened since you have been banded.. For me it is more energy, more desire to socialize, feel great! Smaller size clothing, no knee pain. sleep better, eat better etc.. the list goes on & on
