Great Job! Congratulations, you have done well
-
The redness and itching could be a direct link to the bandaids and tape used. Many have reactions to it. If there is no oozing of the port incision or fever or hot to the touch. I would not worry too much, you are most likely either healing or having a reaction from the sticky stuff from the tape and bandaids.

I just got banded yesterday and have questions?
La_madam replied to rpaniagua77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Every doctor is diferent with the post op instructions and clear or full liquids but all of them do require no solids until the band has set into place.Any food that has to be digested can make for a rumbly churining ordeal in your stomach which could make the bandslip before it hasset into place. Just follow his instructions and no solids until he tells you so. You'll befine. Congratulations on your new band. I wish you lots of success with it! -
You are not alone here..what you are feeling is normal and many of us here have been where you are. For years food has been our best friend..Now suddenly it is no longer our best friend and that my friend is a huge loss for us. It does get better I promise you, especially once you start seeing the results of this wonderful tool you have been blessed with. Hang in there and know we are all here to help you get through this difficult time. One day at a time..you will get through this. P.S. I too understand the Bi-polar side of it all too. I have a son who is Bi-polar, it is a difficult disease, I'm happy to hear yours is under control.

Just had 2nd fill....should I go for another?
La_madam replied to Margo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Great News Margo, strange how it takes a few days for the fill to kick in huh? Some get it instant, I have been one of those ones it takes a few days. Glad you waited it out. -
Trish your shoulder pain is most likely your signal to stop eating, we all get a "soft stop" signal..this is very likely yours, I have heard many others tell me they get the shoulder pain also. You say you are eating way too much so it makes perfect sense since we no longer get that "full" feeling anylonger. My soft stop signal is an ice cream headache, try eating less at each meal and see if it helps. Others get a runny nose or a hiccup or a cough

I'm condused ..you are losing weight well with your band right and because you have saline in it right? Well, seems to me the band is doing it's job..once you have thesalineremoved you may find you are not losing weight. I had my band unfilled for 2 months and believe me when I tel lyou, it's a whole different world with no saline..thank god it is only unfilled for 2 months or I could of been in some serious trouble with weight gain. If you do not want your band any longer, do not get it removed, get it unfilled, then see how you do, that is the great thing aboutthe band, if you start to gain you can always get it filled again...a question though...why are you sick of your band if it is working for you? How much fill do you have? Have you considered getting a partial unfill?

I am SO upset and confused...VENTING
La_madam replied to youknowit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Um Forward the email to your surgeon so he can see for himself, express how upset you were and how rude you felt this other Dr. treated you. I'm glad you got things taken care of and it was not band related. Usuallyt darker urine means dehydration..keep pumping in those liquids. I know when I'm dehydrated I get a bladder infection very easily... -
Kare honey, sorry to hear about your father, what an ordeal. If you need a friend I'm here, call me and I can come down and sit with you I'm not far from Hoag... Be careful , stress can make your band tighten up like a drum and withyour new fill and all when you got to eat your first meal take it very slow.

My Dr. uses fluoro for my fills but always accesses my port before he uses the fluoro machine. He knows exactly where it is and know exactly that he accessed it by touch.

Happy Birthday Hope you are enjoying yourself

Depending on your fill level and the size of the pill will determine if you can take the pills or will need to do liquids. I for one can not take a tylenol caplet without it getting stuck. I only have 1.5 cc's in my band. We all are different, I tend to take liquids whenever available, it's not worth it getting stuck.

There is a thing called the soft stop signal when you eat. It is a signal for you to stop eating since we no longer experience the "full" feeling any more. I have heard many others say their soft stop signal is the pain in their shoulder. Mine is an ice cream headache. Does it happen when you eat? It could also very well be gas..walking to move the gas around so it can get out is the best medicine and Gas X too.

I'm sorry but I feel this personal attack on Paula is wrong, it clearly violates the forum rules that we agree too when we sign up for this forum.( no personal attacks) I personally feel this thread should be deleted. Paula is one of the sweetest memebers here, her request to have the previous thread locked was with no malice intent and for her to be attacked here on a public forum it not right and in violation of the rules! Moderators please consider deleting this thread. Locking it will still fuel the fire, other member wil lstill be able to read it and the PM's will beflying back and forth. This is not fair to Paula, nmot one bit! As moderators I'm sure you see it is in violation of the rules with a personal attack, it needs to be deleted.. This will just become an ugly thread. We all love and respect Paula here. P.S. Johnnyreno, I'm truly sorry for what you and your husband have been through , I really am, it is horrible. We are here for you for support.

Did you loose weight between surgery and first fill?
La_madam replied to Clementine's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I lost 20 lbs from surgery to first fill. -
Even if you're banded, will you always be "overweight"?
La_madam replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I started at 265..I now weigh 161.50 I was morbidly obese and I am now considered in the "normal" BMI range I do not let what the scale says dictate to me my success with the band. I have so many fantastic NSV"s to be greatful for. The numbers o nthe scale mean nothing to me compared to how great I feel and how I have my life back. -
Just had 2nd fill....should I go for another?
La_madam replied to Margo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Will your Dr. give you another fill so soon, my Dr. makes me wait atleast 2 weeks before he will give me anotherfill..I know for me my fills kick in within a week or two -
Great News Darcey..I'm happy for you. Is Ortiz doing your re-banding? Dont stress too much, if it were that easy to get our weight down we wouldnt need the band..take it one day a t a time
