I Mexico anything is possible..My Dr. told me that if in 6 motnhs I want another band , he will gladly do it for me..but if I maintain for those 6 months, why get another band. My goal is to maintain and possibly still lose a pound or two here and there. Now if I wanted my insurance to pay for it there is no way I would be approved..I have a 28.5 BMI which is in the normal range.

Vines your words speak volumes.. But even with the best aftercare shit happens..I'm a testament of that! I hope you seeing your surgeon while you are home gives you some peace of mind and you get some answers. Best of luck

Like I said I had Zero symptoms... I have great restriction & was still losing weight. I was just going in for a check up from my bowel obstruction that was back in April..Dr. Ortiz wanted another endo in 6 months which was to be in October but I just could not get down there... I had a fill in July and nothing looked out of the ordinary then, the barium flowed perfectly through the band and if they suspect erosion the barium will flow over the band and not through it.. so he believes it happened between July after my last fill and now. I have to be there for 48 hours. He told me it is just like the originaL surgery as far as the gas since they do it laproscopically, the reason for the 48 hours is to be on IV antibiotics,I will have surgery on Monday and come home Wednesday. iI will be on liquids for a week and mushy's for a week then onto solids. This may sound strange but now that I know I'm eroded I want my band out ASAP, I do not want it to do any damage to my stomach or other organs.

The NEVER ENDING BURP- filled too tight?
La_madam replied to thechatrooper's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Be careful, being filled too tight and having constant burping can lead to gastritis..I know. I have it! I burp little burps all day long. I'm problably going to be unfilled on Monday due to my gastritis. Do a search on gastritis on yahoo.. -

Tod I was on a 6 month plateau with zero weight loss. I started writing down everything I ate..in one month I lost 10 lbs. Journaling your food really does help. It keeps you accountable. There is something to be said about seeing what you eat on paper. It makes you make better choices.

I won't be successful if I have a sweet tooth?
La_madam replied to lildarlin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm a chocoholic and I am successful Enough said! -
Welcome home Jonathan... You have taken the first step, coming back here where we all love you and want to support you. You have had a rough year, no doubt about it..through it all you still have managed to lose 44 lbs..NOT gain 44 lbs, that is a victory in itself. Be proud. You're home now here with all of us. You can do this Jonathan. One thing that works for me in accountability is to journal what I eat and I mean every single bite. Something about seeing it on paper really helps me to make better choices when I do eat. Maybe try journaling for awhile see if it helps you to not eat the crap food. We are all here to help you Jonathan to get back opn track...

You may experience a Blue time..it is more so from the loss of food, food has been our best friend for many years, giving it up for the first few weeks during the healing and post op phase could create some saddness, but once you start to see the results, it all goes away. The great thing about the band for me is I still enjoy food and Iam losing weight! You will be fine

Nov 4th..I did it! but why the liquid/pureed/soft food diet afterwards?
La_madam replied to mkfenn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Your band needs to set tinto place, sort of like anchoring in. Any solids foods could be harmful since digestion with solid foods is a work out on your stomach with so much turning and churning, it could make your band slip if it has not set into place. Not to mention you most likely have lots of swelling which would make for solids very painful going down. Be wise, follow your Dr.s orders, they are there for a reason. Congratulations to you on your new band. I wish you lots of success -

I had my first un-fill last week.
La_madam replied to IamCanadian25's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was unfilled completely for 2 months and I actually lost 4 lbs during that time. I was a very good bandster duringthattime. I had such fearsof gainingweight. I now have 1.5 cc;s in my band and it is perferct restriction. The key is to not let your head get the best ofyou during this time, make wise choices. I know it is easier said then done, but it can be done. You have had great success so far so that should help to keep you motivated to continue...journal your food, it helps to make better choices when you see it on paper. It really does work! Good Luck to you -
my doctor requires 3 days of liquids after a fill.
