Did anybody pass on getting 1st fill??
La_madam replied to Iziksmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There is no rule that says you have to get your first fill at 6 weeks post op..the 6 weeks post op is only there because that is as soon as most doctors will give you a first fill. If you are losing on a steady basis 1-3 lbs a week, there is no need to get a fill at 6 weeks post op. I did not have my first fill until almostthe 10th week post op. No need to rush it..this is a journey..the longer you can go without a fil lthe better longevity of your band is how I see it. Don't mess with success, like the saying goes..if it aint broken, don't fix it. Get your first fill after you have seen a plateau for a couple of weeks with no weight loss andwhen you see yourself being able to eat more. Here is a good site for fills http://lapbandtransformation.com/Adjustments.htm Good Luck and congrats on the 22 lbs..you are off to a great start  -
LOL...I have been telling my hubby for years that tan fat looks better then white fat...he now says to me after losing over 100 lbs " Now what is your excuse for tanning since you have no more fat?"

2.5 was my highest but not my most comfortablest...after an unfill for 2 months my best fill level was 1.5

Today has been good so far... I have made wise choices in my food Breakfast I had 1 scrambled egg and 1/2 hamburger patty. lunch I split a chicken ceasar salad w/ my co-worker so far I have drank 40 oz of Water and that is not counting my 3 cups of coffee. This afternoon and Tonight I plan to ride my incumbent bike for 30 minutes and eat a small healthy dinner and drink the rest of my water ONE DAY AT A TIME IS ALL I CAN DO!

I will give you a little advice, once your pouch is full with hard proteins and you go to drink..you will not do it again, OUCH it hurts, when your pouch is full and you drink while eating or too son after eating you get backed up like a toliet and it is painful, you may not notice it now with mushies but I guarantee you will notice the pain once you are on solids , when I'd go out to eat, I'd order NO drink and not ask for water, if it is there so is the tmeptation, so to avoid it, dont have it near you..and hopefully you will not be ordering value meals any longer so that will not be an issue either. if you drink while eating you defeat the purpose of filling your pouch or having the band since the liquids will push the food through your band quicker and you will be hungry again sooner... I hope this helps you some Good Luck

I was under light sedation, the call it twilight, the procedure too kabout 3 minutes once they got the scope in..total time for me was less then 10 minutes, yes there was an IV needle to administer the sedation medicine I had mine in Mexico, it was cheaper too even if my insurance covered it here in the US it still was cheaper in MX and I had resutls instantly, with video and print out of pictures and a typed written report

How long did you do *just* liquids??
La_madam replied to peace101's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was on liquids for 3 weeks, 2 weeks of clear liquids and 1 week of full liquids...you need to folllow your Dr.s post op instructions, every Dr. has a different post op plan. Follow the rules , do not deviate from his instructions, there is a reason he gave them to you. You need to heal, eating too soon before your Dr. allows it could jeopardize things with your band. I know it is hard but there is light at the end of the tunnel, hang in there Drink Protein drinks to get in your protein, it helps curb hunger and may help with the nausea -
iam the LBT tanning QUEEN...I have been tanning for years I am tan 365 days a year...my scars look great all exept for the one I got from my band removal, it is a little browner then the rest of them , but yes you can cover them up or just put a dab of sunscreen on the scar before tanning

I'm telling you it works for me.. thanks for asking and thinking of me I appreciate that more then you know! Today so far I have eaten 2 egg whites w/ a small piece of turkey ham for Breakfast lunch a small green salad and I had to force the salad down, was not hungry but I still need to eat.. it is 4:00 now and I'm not hungry. I do not have the jitters but it affects us all differently, right now for me it is my saving grace not having my band ...even if I DO NOT LOSE lose another pound and DO NOT GAIN I am happy!

Yeah! Leatha is staying!!!!! You know I got mad love for you girlfriend

May I ask wheat kind of post op diet your Dr. gave you..I ask because I know my Dr. would of never allowed Cheetos the first week post op..I was on liquids for 3 weeks, Cheetos are carb heaven so if you are like me the more carbs you eat the hungrier you are ...try drinking a Protein drink to help curb the hunger..protein curbs hunger.. fill up on liquids.. Not to mention eating solids too soon before you have healed can risk slippage of the band..did your Dr. not tell you that? Any food that needs to be digested can cause your sticthces and port and band to shift since digestion does make our tummy rumble & churn this is why most Dr. reccomend liquids for atleast a week it is to let the band set into place and heal before we eat solids. Drink More protein, it helps I promise :scared:

Things shift when we lose weight..if you port was accessible last week by the Dr. then I would not worry about it..

Just banded and here's what's happening
La_madam replied to Sunta's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The reason the burping is hurting is from the swelling, I know I had the exact same thing, my Dr. told me there is air and swelling in the diaphram which is causing the pain, it will subside day after day, mine took about 3 weeks to COMPLETELY go away...for the pain in your shoulder, the best medicine for you is to WALK WALK WALK...little bits all day long..lying around makes it worse.. you got to get the gasses moving and flowing outwards, hang in there, this is all normal post op crap..there is light at the end of the tunnel I promise :scared: -
Penni, I'm jumping on board with you...god knows I need to..thanks this is just what I needed to read and follow. Together , bandless we can do this! :scared: Tomorrow is a new day...Day 1 for me

PB'd for the 1st time, need reassurance!
La_madam replied to Iziksmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
After a PB there is usually swelling so it is reccomended by most Dr.'s that after a PB to go on liquids for 24 hours to let the swelling subside..if not and you chose to eat it can become a vicious cycle.. you may PB again if there is swelling. Dont worry about your band slipping..just do liquids for 24 hrs then resume with softer foods and then back to solids.. If your band slipped I was told that you would not be able to keep anything down not even liquids but others here have had slippage and were able to still eat...I'm sure your band is fine, you just had a PB, now listen to your body and take it slow in resuming solids...chew chew chew :scared: -

I need advise! I have cheated 8 days post-op.
La_madam replied to lillster's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Of course you will not have restriction..you have no fill yet, restriction comes with fills. Losing weight will come with restriction so until you start to get your fills try not to get discouraged, remember the band was designed to work its best when filled...right now weigt loss is a bonus during this pre fill stage..heal up and the get your fills and then worry about weight loss...do not cheat any more..you do not want to risk slippage..eating too soon beforee you have healed properely is not wise, this is why your Dr. gave you a post op diet to follow.. Hang in there  -
Just carry a water bottle with you at all times..I have water with me 24/7/365...everywhere I go, my 24oz water bottle goes with me...you'll be fine..it is very rare to become dehydrated unless of course you are filled way too tight and you can even get water down or swallow your own saliva
-
WHen I fly I retain water.. when I retained water while I had my band I was definately tighter...for me different climates and elevations always affected my tightness with my band..vacation is a time for enjoyment not to me miserable..if you are concerned, then I'd call your Dr. and discuss your concerns with him...you may not need a complete unfil, maybe just a slight unfill? Good Luck :couch2:
