    Munchies

Are you on solids yet? If so are you eating your proteins first? hard proteins like chicken, fish will keep you satisfied longer then softer proteins like scrambled eggs, cottage cheese. I also know for myself if I eat carbs early in the day I'm hungry all day long. My first fill helped me and I lost weight and wasnt as hungry but my 2nd fill did the trick..No Munchies what so ever now

    Scrambled eggs versus peanut butter?

I am at 2cc's also and I can eat both but egg whites are easier then the whites and yolk scrambled..maybe try it that way it still has plenty of protein and less cholesterol and fat..chunky peanut butter goes down easier then creamy peanut butter for me..

Lisa that is a great Idea..send a letter into Oprah all about the band and all of our progress. I worte to her right after surgery about the band but never got a reply. If we keep ate her then maybe she will respond! We need to get the word out about this band..to much emphasis is on the RNY

    Frustrated!!

What & how much are you eating in a day? Exactly how much water are you drinking in a day? What you are eating and how much water you are drinking are key to weight loss...Oh and exercise too

    back pain

    naughty and busted!

Its so important as hard as it is to follow your doctor's post op instructions. You were given those instructions for a reason and the reason is you are still healing and you do not want to eat anything that is hard to digest that will make your stomach have to work harder. the band needs to set in place and the stiches need to heal and the swelling needs to go down. throwing up is not a good idea when you are still healing. It is wise to follow the instructions from hear on out to preven damge to your band in the healing stage..I know its hard but it is all worth it in the long run...Good Luck to you & Hang in there

I had my surgery in Mexico at the Oasis Hospital in TJ I took a shower the day after surgery and had no problems. The hospital was clean. The drinking Water is what we were told growing up not to drink..The hospital I used is also used for cancer patients that come there for treatment from all over US so I am sure the water is clean...

    Penni - Question for you

It can happen Betty..My 17yr old son had a pain in his shoulder..10 days later it was a tumor the size of a deflated basketball, only through them trying chemo did he live 9 weeks otherwise he would of died sooner. He died 9 weeks from the day he was diagnosed. He had such a rare fast spreading cancer there was nothing they could do, it took them a week to figure out what kind of cancer it really was..it was such a rare cancer that a 17yr old having it the docs told us his chances of getting struck by lightning were greater..I'm sorry to hear of your news..I know how devastating it can be trust me I do. I had 2 children with cancer at the same time, one lived and one died. 2 totally diffeent types of cancer. Do they know what type of cancer she has..my son had liposarcoma it is approx 2% (only 600-770 cases of it in the world a year we were told) of all cancers and it happens in your soft tissue (fatty areas) arms, legs and stomach and usually in people in their 50's & 60's not a 17 yr old and it spreads like a wild fire, my sons spread to his lungs, liver and the tumor was so large growing so fast daily it was splitting him in 2 all of this occured in the first 2 weeks he was diagnosed, the chemo for the next 6 weeks was the only thing that kept him alive that long .....I will pray for her

    weekly scale challenge

LOL Lisa...you sound like my brother hedoes the exact same thing. he even weighs his clothes to see what he will wear to his weekly weigh in at his Dr.'s office every Tuesday, he drives me batty, he lives with us and he is on that scale 20x's a day atleast! He has lost 88lbs in 3 months and is almost at his goal, just another 30 pounds for him..we both took different routes to battle our weight problems I chose the band and he chose a different route but we are both having success and that is all that matters! I told him I'm going to hide the scale
  15. Good For you..I have heard great things about the doctor you have chosen and it is great that you and your wife can have it done together..you have your own little mini support group with eachother. Hope all goes smooth for you both ...Congratulations, you will love your bands!

    weekly scale challenge

Darcy I agree with you. I find that on Modays afer I weigh in I can "blow it" per say and have 1 day a week to eat foolishly if I so choose, then come Tuesday get right back on track. It works well for me

    weekly scale challenge

Lisa try not getting on the scale so often...let it go for a week or every 4 days..you will see a difference. Getting on the scale everyday is the worst thing for you..its sabbatoges your efforts. If you do not see the scale move and know you are doing real good w/ food, water & exercise all it will do is discourage you and you will want to eat ! Dont get on the scale! That is why it is called the WEEKLY Scale challenge, it is why I started this thread. So many of us hop on every morning only to see no loss and get bummed out! I'm telling you I firmly believe it is one of the reasons I have been losing every single week. Try it for a week just to see, it cant hurt any Dont give up!! GO look at your pics you posted that will motivate you

    Pictures

Lisa..you look so great. You got to be proud. I know you are struggling lately but all you need to do is keep looking at those pics and that in itself should keep you motivated..Keep them both on your fridge/ pantry so when you want to open them you have to go thorugh the pics to get there..maybe that will help I know it helps me I have a fat pic and a skinny pic(from years ago) on my fridge right by the door handle... You look awesome ..I can see such a remarkable difference Keep it up girl!
  21. Hey Pam if you are anything like me I was shopping in TJ then next day after surgery. I took cash, some stores on El Revolucion will take credit cards, checks and travelers checks. El Revolucion is where you want to go shopping , it is the main drag in TJ where all the tourists go it will have everything you are looking for and then some (5 $ cab ride) Make sure you bring the Gas X with you and maybe some adult strength liquid tylenol for theride home I'm so glad I took mine and I just live 1.5 hoursfrom the border butthe way they drive in Tj and the way the raods are it stirrred al lthose gas bubbles in my tummy up. Also take a book for reading during pre op tests there is usually some wait time becasue Mexico is on their own time schedule. I also took some snacks for my hubby, the hospital I had mine at was a Vegan hospital food was not so great and all the wait time he got hungry. I'm so glad I took the advice I had gotten from others when I asked becasue thebook, GasX, Liquid Tylenol and snacks for traveling companion were al neccessities . Good Luck to you

    Wahhhhhh!

Ryan there are several doctors who if you have a BMI over 50 will ask you to lose weight prior to surgery. It makes it easier to place the band when someone has a BMI over 50 losing weight reduces fat around the liver and makes it easier for band placement. Most docs will have you do a low carb or liquid diet 2-3 weeks prior to surgery. It is true..there was a man who had surgery with my doctor whop had a BMI over 50 and had to do 3 weeks of liquid protein drinks and a very low carb diet prior to surgery...so when you see your doc get clarification or plan on starting this process 2-3 weeks prior to surgery but it is true I'm sorry to tell you. ( I have heard of it more with men then women however)
