Ever have a fill dissipate/dissolve???
La_madam replied to NancySmiles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Paula..if he did it..you would know it..it feels like someone is squeezing the air out of your chest from the inside out..Strangest sensation..I do not even know if I can explain the feeling properly. I have not felt it with the other 2 fills only the first one. -
Ever have a fill dissipate/dissolve???
La_madam replied to NancySmiles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Went for my 3rd fill..and I was concerned about how much fill I had. I was told after my 2nd I had 2cc's. My first fill was done by Dr. Martinez 1.1 ccs and my 2nd was done by Ortiz . 9 for a total of 2 cc's so when I went in yesterday..I told Dr. Martinez I wanted to see if all of my fill was still there, he asked how much do I have I told him I was not going to tell him until he pulled out all of my fill...well it was right on. When he pulled out my fill he said I had 2 cc's then asked what I thought I had and I told him 2 cc's. So I asked why some think they have more fill then they really do and he confirmed that if the Dr. does not remove ALL of the air from the tubing from the FIRST fill..you will have less the next fill then you originally thought you had. Interesting.. -

RoRo You can expect to: 1. Lose Weight 2. Add years to your life 3. Eat less 4. More energy 5. Do things you have not been able to do in years! 6. Feel good about yourself Everyone here who has had the surgery has had success in their own way and I can almost guarantee they will tell you that the pro's out weigh the minimal cons this surgery has ( does it have any cons??) and that they would do it over again in a hearbeat! Are you thinking of having this surgery?

Band Rejection - Answer to Port Problems
La_madam replied to DeLarla's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hmm.. Since at the bottom of your signature it clearly states your surgeon was Lopez and since we all know who your surgeon was I did not think I was saying anything that everyone did not all ready know. Sorry if you feel I let the cat out of the bag! -
www.tickerfactory.com is the web site most of us used And Congratulations to you on your new band! This is the best site for knowledge and SUPPORT!! Everyone here is so caring and supportive.

Band Rejection - Answer to Port Problems
La_madam replied to DeLarla's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree with Pat (HarleyNana) I think that phone call you mentioned sounds like a set-up and the analogy Pat posted makes perfect sense. It would be hard to swallow that any of the people you confided in would disobey your trust you had in them by telling anyone or calling Lopez's office themselves. All of us here are family and are here to help and support eachother, not to stab anyone in the back like that. Do any of us know of any other member on this board who knows you and does not have a port? I can't think of anyone here who does not have a port. -
There is something in the air...PLEASE HELP!!
La_madam replied to melissalee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Kim, the last two fill apointments I made were 2 weeks in advance and of course right before both fills I felt restriction, one of those fills I canceled back in November and went with that fill level for 3 more months, yesterday I had my 3rd fill and of course felt restriction 2 days leading up to it when days & weeks prior to that I had none which is why I made the appointment Personally I think alot of it for me is in my head..I got my 3rd fill like planned yesterday and am glad I did. Your period can play a role in restriction. When I have my period I get very restricted. My Dr. reccomends getting a fill one week after your period or 1 week before but not during since we retain water during our cycles. It could be why you did not get much restriction from your first fill if you were having PMS and retaining water when the Dr. does your fill it may no tbe enough fill once you are no longer PMSing -
Yes your period can affect your restriction. My Dr. reccomends getting a fill a week after your period or a week before. Water retention plays a big role in restriction is what I was told.

Jazelle..I had the exact same fears aboutthe liquid phase and mine was for 3 weeks. I thought there would be no way that I could accomplish that..but guess what..I DID..WE ALL DID!! You will be amazed at how food will not even sound tempting the first week or two as you are healing. I had so much gas and swelling in my tummy that hunger & food were not even issues. You will get through it!

Turning 38 was my turning point. I had this surgery 3 weeks before my 38th birthday..I kept telling myself I do not want to be fat at 40 so I knew I had to have the band and am so glad I did! Congratulations to you!!

The woman I met today said her problem with the hot dog was that she #1 took too big of a bite and was talking when it went down without chewing it well enough and #2 it had a really thick skin on it...I have had a hot dog and had no trouble but now Iam hesitant to try one since hearing of her horror story.

There is something in the air...PLEASE HELP!!
La_madam replied to melissalee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Melissa..did you fly to Texas? Sometimes flying can make your band tighter, something to do with the altitude and can take a couple days to get back to normal....and also stress can do it. If your band slipped you would not be able to drink water without throwing up. If something was stuck the same thing would be happening. Could it be that there is a piece of brisket stuck in your band? I met a woman today in TJ at Ortiz's office who had a piece of hot dog lodged in her band and could not even keep down water, they had to go in a surgically remove it and unfill her at the same time..After a PB Stay on liquids..trust me I know this for a fact I experienced this all too well.. most Dr's want 24 hrs of liquids after a PB to rest the esophagus or you will just continue to PB. It is a vicious cycle..If you can not keep down water without PBing call your Dr. immediately! Good Luck to you -
Monday 1/17 191 = 1/2 lb loss this week Going for my 3rd fill this morning

Paula I feel the same feeling when I take a bit it takes a few seconds and I feel it pass through..but is it passing through the pouch? I thought it was supposed to stay in the pouch longer. I'm going for my 3rd fill tomorrow since I feel like I have No restriction. Iam confused...looking forward to reading the vetran bandster 's replies to this post.

Good Luck tomorrow.. We will be keeping you in our thoughts!

The reason you can not burp is from the swelling and the gas trapped in your diaphram, as the swelling goes down the burps will come out. Mine took 3 weeks to finally get some relife! I had the same problem and was told this exact same thing by my Dr.

Golf ball with water!!!!!!!!!!Any advise???
La_madam replied to athykay's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Kathy stay on liquids until Monday..warm liquids seem to open you up alittle more then colder liquids too.. You esophagus is irritated, so you will continue to PB if you eat solids. After every PB I was told to do liquids for atleast 24 hours. Rest your esophagus over the weekend. -
