The most important thing is that they are zero cal, zero carb.

Oh Boy Pre Surgery Liquid Protein Diet
MiniMi replied to goldenlife's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Your dr will tell you. They all require different things. Just remember to not vary from your teams plan. They know you best and are responsible for your care. Do you have a band date yet? -
Oh no! Have you called your dr?

A 5k? You should be alright by then. Just don't try to go to fast.

I have magic bullet too and by far the ninja is better. The mb seems to over do it . Example: crushing ice turns it to snow and blocks the whole thing up. Do you know what I mean? I find that ninja gives a perfect blend/ purée hands down.

I was banded 10/5. I am supposed to walk 20 min 3x a day. A bit much so I only do it twice. I was told that treadmill was last option because you put more force on you abdomin with treadmill vs street walking ( no pun intended!)

Sick And Tired Of People Being Rude/discouraging
MiniMi replied to Lapbandster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The replies are really good and spot on. There is one other thing I'd like you to consider and that is your want for your moms approval. See, no one can make you feel anything so if she triggers a reaction out of you then you need to do the work to change the reaction. I have a very similar relationship with my mother. In our family dynamic I was the one that everyone dumped on. I was the one that was always asked to do all the favors even if others were in a position to do so and I wasn't. I feared disapproval and could not say no. One time when I was in a physically abusive relationship I called my mom in tears after getting beat up, and said that I didn't understand how anyone could be so cruel. Her reply, I kid you not was " Men like thin wives. You should lose some weight" . It wasn't until I went to counseling that I realized that I needed to change. I needed to be the one who taught people how to treat me. I did not, nor will I, tell my mom that I had surgery. It is my business and I know she could not handle knowing because of who she is. Believe me I know that it is a work in progress but setting the boundaries and changing the rules of interaction is so much healthier especially now since you are on a new journey JUST FOR YOU. you can have a talk with your mom, show her all the information in the world but the trash is on her side of the street and you can't reach far enough over to clean it up. She'll have to do that herself. In the meantime, set yourself up for success! Bug hug to you! -

When I got home from the hospital I said that to myself. It was like it hit me at that moment. Crazy huh? -

Isn't the ninja awesome! It purées well durning the mushy stage too. A blender just does not do it especially since you re only doing a tiny amount!

Weight Loss Traps: Why Smart Women Stay Overwhelmed And Overweight
MiniMi replied to Melissa McCreery's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I am recently banded. I love your article. I just realized through my preop diet that my family stresses me out. As soon as I get home and I hear everything that needs to be done, or see what didn't get done, I want to eat. I am not hungry but I am using food as a way to hide. I feel overwhelmed and would rather eat then wash the dishes that didn't get done or go fold a load of laundry. Food seems to be my only way out instead of demanding more from my family. -
I am 12 days post op. I lost every day until two days ago. I am also tired. I am like you, how is it possible to eat NOTHING barely and not just melt away. I think I'm getting ready to start my period and I can feel a little Water retention that I didn't feel before. When I walk even 1 mile a day it comes off more. I'm going to try not to obsess if you promise to do the same. Are you on my fitness pal? If you are add me micheleost.

October 2012 Bandsters

I was banded on 10/5 move to soft foods on Saturday. The puréed stage didn't bother me too bad, after all I hardly eat anything. As for the hunger, yes I feel it right about the time I have a Protein shake mid morning or mid afternoon. I eat " dinner" around 7. If I get hungry before be a sf Popsicle or a cup of hot tea usually works. I consume approx 500-600 cal a day. -

MiniMi replied to NYTeacher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I was banded October 5. Everything is going great. I'm still on mushy phase. Get my first fill Nov 5. I have the Realize band btw. -
Standing up as a teller would make it really hard. Can you call in sick or is it a financial question not to just call in. I had surgery 10/5 and went back to work 10/8 but I have a desk job and I had no pain after day 2. You won't know until after you have surgery how you'll feel. A frank talk with your surgeons office about the post op care and cost would be a good thing at this point. It's a real dilemma, I feel for you. I don't think I'd let this opportunity pass me by but you know your finances and job situation better. You don't want to start your new journey stressed out either!
