I was banded on a Friday and went back to work on the following Monday. I sit at a desk though. Besides needing to get up to walk around for 5 minutes every hour I was fine.

Chapstick, listerine strips. Hopefully you'll be home in a few hours after surgery so make sure you have gasX and heating pad ready. -
The way I look at it I have crammed my lifetime share of pasta and pizza and sticky rice into the first 42 years of my life. If I don't have those things ever again well I had my fair share already!

They are made from the Konja plant and they really are zero cal. Here is the upshot: they are see-through much like other Asian noodles. The come in a bag with liquid in them. You cut open the bag and it smells much like seaweed or fish ( probably from sitting in the water). Rinse rinse and rinse again. They are a little chewy. They are not HORRIBLE but not the absolute best either. You can try to make them with several different types of sauce to get what works for you. They make you feel full longer than pasta. ( there is even a supplement of Konja for dieters) I found them by called the local Japanese market. They are in the refrigerated section. I couldn't find them elsewhere. Doctor Oz sings its praise if that is worth anything to you.

Spot on post! Thanks.

You will be surprised at how well you bounce back. I was driven home 2 hours after surgery, then an hour later went to pick up my scripts at Costco. You have to walk around a lot anyway to prevent clots and to move the gas around. When the dr says that you must do well enough it is because they require you to drink. If you can and don't vomit then you are well enough. Remember that a hospital has a lot of " things" floating around. You'll be in a weakened physical state and you immune system is not at its peak, sooooooo going home and resting is the best thing possible.

Congrats and welcome to THE BEST GROUP on this board...can I get an AMEN? -
My nutritionist told me no coffee because it stimulates hunger. I didn't want to risk being even more hungry than I am now ( banded 10/5 I'm in mushy stage). Gum is like the straw, you swallow more air, according to my nutritionist. My doctor confirmed this. Reading here about the possibility of swallowing it just gave me added reason to never chew gum ( don't like to anyway) Of course it really is " to each his own" but I got where I am today by breaking rules, stretching boundaries, being a know it all. For me, my post op life will be completely different than my preop because I'm different and determined....to follow the rules at least that my team has for me. Gum and coffee are little things to give up for feeling great again about me!

I was just wondering about that! I bought some yesterday but was worried about the gas. I usually roast it on broil in the oil then add olive oil and salt. So yummy? But I'm going to try the mashed potato version. Sounds great!

It still taste like squash and it's a starch veggie. I personally don't care for the grainy texture.

That's about right! -
Have you had any fills yet? I am stalled right now banded 10/5 and have lost 21.6 lbs since preop. But I also know I am getting ready to start my cycle. So stay the course, watch you sodium intake. It is humanly impossible for you to stay at your weight eating only 500-600 cal a day. If that was the case people in Africa would all be obese! It will happen. Your body can only hold out for so long.

Changing up the routine makes sense to trick our muscles. Stopping is crazy. Have you signed up for a local run? Try a 10k or 1/2 and get training. It is a proven fact that running drops weight faster than anything, especially belly fat. ( as long as we don't overcompensate by eating more) I would change my focus and have some fun. You'd be surprised at how fast you change too.

Wow we all left you hanging a whole day! Sorry! Is your surgeon ready to submit to the insurance for approval? It'll go by quick. My advice is to relax and embrace this journey. Congrats!
