Tap Tap....is This Thing On?
MiniMi replied to Brandi's Banded's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Oh boy! You just opened yourself for a avalanche of comments! Ha. It is common, you need your liver shrunken so surgery will be smooth. Better 3 little holes than having to be cut open. Also, I'm sure you are taking Vitamins too right? Are you on Protein shakes for two weeks? Believe it or not most of us were getting less nutrients eating everything in sight than the two weeks of liquid diet. It will be crazy hard for about three days then your body will start calming down. After all you are detoxing too. -

I can't believe some of you haven't heard of or don't know what a shelf butt is! I guess I am just ghetto but I know and have a shell butt. It is what prohibits you from sitting all the way back in your seat when in the car. If you reach back and touch your spine and then run your hand down to your butt, if it takes a sharp curve outward then baby YOU GOT BACK TOO! I actually named my gut! I call her Girthtrude. I named her that because girth is the circumference around and I definitely have a girth. Having said that, when my son came home Monday after a month gone he looked at me and said " where is Girthtrude?" (22.6 lbs lost) felt good to get a little praise at the beginning of my journey!

It's really good and comforting. Trick is to pour a little bit of room temperature water on it, mix good, then add hot water. If not it does not mix. Took me two tries to get it right. -
Online. About time you can get on ebay too but unjury I get from their sight.

I Didnt Take My Vitamins
MiniMi replied to therealme89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that those bubbles devolve the vitamins but after sitting for a minute they are all gone. Swansons vitamins online also offer a bariatric line of liquid and chewables. Their other chewables are good too. Reasonable priced at top quality. I'd suggest some coq10 also. -

I posted about this a while back. There are two causes to shoulder pain, one is gas of course. Let me guess though, it's in your left shoulder right? Well I went for a followup on Monday and my dr told me that the lingering shoulder pain is from the tube touching your diaphragm. It hits a nerve and sends pain signal to the tip of your shoulder pain. For me it was worse when I bent down. It felt like I had Excalibur inside just shoving the sword upward trying to escape. It subsided for a few days but I felt it again last night. (I'm 14 days post op) Do a search for my thread for some comments from others, shoulder pain- revealed is the title. Best wishes to you!

Call your doctor! Sad can be a physiological and biological reaction to the lack of sugar. So don't stress too much about that aspect. But seriously you call your doctor and you tell him that you need something! Tell him it goes beyond just being hungry. Even if you liquify some mash potatoes you would feel better. Keep me posted! I am 14 days post op. I'm hungry yeah, until I eat then I'm fine for a small amount of time. It's the hard part of the journey. Keep me posted I'm Michele btw is 1961 your bd? I'm 1969. Lets get the Joy back in Joy1961! Add me as a friend, we got this. Are you using my fitness pal? Add me micheleost.

How to handle eating out with friends: How many times have you sat across from friends at a restaurant and looked at them while they spoke to you? I have learned to take the focus off of the food and made it about the socializing. ( I have weekly business lunches and a few social events in the 2 little weeks I've been banded) I sit there with my bowl of Soup and thoroughly enjoy the conversations. Those around me think I'm just eating slow because I'm paying so close attention to them. Body language is everything. Nice smile shoulders back and they'll never know the difference.

Surgery Was A Success!!!!
MiniMi replied to Tiffany3280's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's great news! Marshawn, when they repair hiatal hernias laparoscopically it is a very delicate stitch so be very careful with lifting etc for 4-6 weeks or they'll have to go back in. ( usually by a bigger incision) I had that repaired too. If you feel pain in your back that lingers that is due to the healing of the hernia repair and not just gas. Take it easy! I'm 2 weeks post op today and doing great. In the mushy phase and I get to feel hunger for the first time, dare I day, in my whole life...HA!
