Went Shopping This Morning- In My Closet.
MiniMi posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I went shopping in my closet this morning and was able to wear a size 14 skirt ( A line, elastic waist) and a cute top I got from Macy's INC collection in size xl in RED. I'm 18 days post op and I'm down 24.8 lbs. woohoo! -
You'll never look sexier!....ha! I took a pic too, all hooked up. I now have no dignity left! Ha!

That's really great news! I started my journey in the obese range too. The tiresome struggle with my weight over the last 10 years is what brought me here. I was a skinny child teen and young adult. Life traumas caught up to me though. To get the surgery though I actually had to get a diagnosis for sleep apnea before my insurance Would approve. I'm glad insurance companies are rethinking their position. I'm doing amazing and loving my new life. It's saving me from myself. Being obese and morbidly obese is the same thing though. I'm no better because of my bmi. I relate to the 65+ bmi as I do with the 30 bmi. We are all just children of pain working toward a common goal. I wish you the best of success on your journey.

More Pain Than I Was Expecting!!
MiniMi replied to titansjim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The pain in your shoulder is caused by something else. It's your left shoulder right? Well my dr shed some light on that pain a few weeks ago. It is your tube rubbing against your diaphragm that causes a little inflammation. Check out the tread " shoulder pain- revealed" they do a better job explaining it than me. My dr had me take gel cap Advil. Heating pads helped relieve the pain. Call your dr for instructions if it doesn't go away. Hope this helps. -
Lapband With Plication?
MiniMi replied to missyl817's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So the part of the stomach that gets folded over is the part that signals hunger and communicates with the brain. That is the part that gets removed with the sleeve. Plication works as an added tool because it muffles the screams to eat more food that your brain hears. I had never heard about this until after my band. This is the only info I know about the sleeve because I asked my surgeon at my last appointment to explain it to me. -
You are too funny. Knee high ankle weights would be knee weights right?

Awe cut nnicole some slack. She's one of the sweetest people on here! I didn't know you could get wls with a BMI of 30 unless self pay. Good to know. How did your insurance authorize it? Did you need another condition linked to being overweight? What insurance do you have. I'd love to have some of my friends switch to ones that don't cause issues with authorization.

Yeah sorry, I'm out o the kitchen and not on the food network either. I have never liked sweets but cupcake wars and cake boss has me wanting frosting out of the can! That leaves me with having real man vs food...after all that's all I got left.....heehee!

And will you post a pic of that?

That's wonderful! Running has a way of healing the soul too. I'd sign up for a 5k in your area ASAP to keep the momentum going. As far as hurting your knees go, skinny people hurt their knees too. I ran a marathon at 240 lbs two years ago in under 5 hrs with no injury so just take it easy and listen to your body. Runny gives you the fasted results too! Belly fat MELTS away and your hips shrink in no time. Jeff Galloway's programs for running injury free are invaluable. Congrats! -
I Don't Want To Tell Anyone I'm Considering Lapband
MiniMi replied to momof02's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I told my husband and my boys and one close friend..of course the friend who referred me also knows. When someone asks me I tell them I'm eating less and exercising...like duh! As far as get together a go there is nothing you can't eat. Leaning in and listening to the conversations while smiling and slowly eating is a whole new experience. I enjoy it much more because I'm learning how to Celebrate family and friends without overheating. I've been out to pizza, to Mexican food and I go to weekly work luncheons. No one has ever said boo to me. I've lost 30 lbs since my preop. I was banded 10/5. -
Just paid $3.74 central Cali

Yep normal. Do you have realize or lap band? My dr said I'm wide open, that's why I'm starving all the time. TG I go in Monday for my first fill.
-
Banded 10/5. Lost 30.1 including preop.

My doc sad to not let it get past 3 days. I used glycerin suppositories. They stimulate a different zone if you get my drift. Worked within 20 min and they are cheap.

Why In The World Did I Let It Get This Bad
MiniMi replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well said Mis! I think more like dude than a Gil ( so I've been told) no fluff, no beating around the bush. I understood completely where our dud was coming from. Sometimes us guys get to tough love before laying the foundation of fluff. He comes from a good place though. We are so happy that this situation has not defined you, and that you are full of life nd hope. So many others re not! Big hug agin from Cali!
