Hello all! So glad you ask about my spare time. Im not quite out of the woods Yet. I'm taking a week off then I study for the CPA exam. After I sit for the exam in October and November then I am off. IF I pass the exam first time out them I will be done for good. If I DON'T pass then I have to back to school for 4 months to get an extra 24 credits and re-sit for the exam. So as you can see I NEED to pass the exam. California law changes in Jan 2014 so that is why I have to pass this time. I get a stomach ache just thinking about it. Today is deep cleaning day. Tomorrow I'm hosting our annual company BBQ. And I have a huge amount of homework to do. Dee I know what you mean about crying for the school work. When I first started back at school 3 years ago I felt so dumb! Everything came so easy to me in high school but my return to college was a shocker. Stick to it, those muscles will start working again. Well, off to my crazy weekend. Have fun everyone!

Dee, Us kids can be real jerks to our mothers. Don't give up. Call him again. Just remember that your son needs you and always will. Don't let too much time pass because its harder to make the call. Do him a favor. Once you are gone he will be thankful you insisted on making peace. Having said that a DIL can really put a wrench in the works. You sons love for you doesn't even come out of the same "account" so it's not like he is robbing her of something. Sheezz! My work situation is on hold for now because my partner and the big bosses of the other firm are on vacation. Must be nice.

Great thread. Here is my take on all of this. As Chronic dieters and obese people we, or should I say I, know everything I should about how to diet on about 20 different plans. If it was as easy as that I'd be skinny mini a long long time ago. The hardest part of this journey is getting out if your own way and trusting the process. Some of us still want to be controlling. We are unfamiliar with this process so we try to mold it into resembling our last 20 failed attempts at a diet. And the greatest part of the dieting process is that you can be in control so no one can take away your biggest comfort, your biggest friend, your greatest know instantly gratifying vice: food. Fast forward to lapband placement. If I want to be successful and really change and not be one of the 40-50% who gain it all back or never lose it all then I have to quit being the expert, quit using my past failures at successful chronic dieting, quit relying on food to make me happy/miserable. Here is what I have done to quit all this unsuccessful behavior : Deny my head hunger it's fix Trust the process Follow doctors orders Found my voice instead of cramming food in my mouth Enjoy life- get out there and move Sometimes I track on MFP to keep myself on point so I don't graze but most days I don't. Protein and Vitamins and listening to my body. Best wishes!

Love love LOVE the quilt! It's beautiful! Things are going good here. Got a fill on Monday. Feels good to synch up!! Heehee A business opportunity just opened up to partner and merge with a large firm that would triple my salary so I'm holding my breath right now. My boss/ partner and I met on Tuesday with these guys and they were super impressed and throwing ideas/offers at me like crazy so we will just have to see how it goes. Needless to say I'm excited. If it doesn't go to port I still will purchase the firm and have a great opportunity. I have to say that lapband has changed my life. I would have never had the confidence to walk in to a meeting with a managing partner of a $17M firm and sell myself and my vision to them had I been wearing another 80 lbs. I'm finally not afraid to be me and it feels damn good! Soooooo, thank you all for walking me through this and cheering me on. It means the world to me. Xxoo

Almost Died with the Lap-Band!

Here's a thought: doctors come out of retirement all the time. Or they go work for kaiser I think no matter what you should write your exact review about him on the medical review sites. It can't hurt and it may even help someone. Sounds like, to me, that he got forced into retirement from his mistake with you. What a terrible way to go. Glad your still among the living. (ur title sucked by the way but it got me interested) -
Hi y'all! Friday night had a 31 gifts party at my house followed by friends coming over to visit. Saturday went to Richmond for a BBQ followed by going to a friends house for dinner. Sunday went to Oakland for an A's game followed by a GLORIOUS NAP! This morning I went to dr office for a follow up appt with the neurologist for Tyler followed by X-rays for his chiropractor. Now I'm home cleaning up. I have a dr appt for a fill at 2:45. Woohoo what a weekend!!

First fill was on Monday and I am starving today!

I know this is the hard part if the whole process. But if you can hang in there with monthly small fills it will be better for you in this whole journey. Btw and FYI, herbal tea is known to curb hunger. But most is not that great unless you like it. So what I did was found a chai herbal tea ( trader joes has one/red tea is herbal) that I add sf syrup to and a dash of nf milk. It saved my butt during bandsters hell. -
Ontario - how to claim surgery cost on Income taxes
MiniMi replied to Mrs.Bales's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Anything over 7.5% of your adjusted gross income can be deducted. -
I prepare dinner on my lunch break so I just have to reheat and serve so I don't have to be in the kitchen that much. Sometimes I make them reheat and serve.

Looks like you are allergic to the stitches they used. Also wondering if they numb the area every time you get a fill. You may be allergic to that too. I'm not diagnosing I'm just saying the look it gives me. I'm with everyone else, make yourself heard!

Omg it gets worse! I called my dr yesterday to explain what I'm paying for each fill and I asked how much the fill would be if I was a cash patient and they said only $110!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So here I am, going each month paying through to nose and I could have been paying 1/4 of the cost. They won't provide further discounts or refunds but good freaking lord, are you kidding me??!!!?!

Don't underestimate the value of eBay! I sell my big clothes and buy my skinnier clothes on eBay. I am able to purchase brand name beautiful clothes for pennies on the dollar. The trick is to know the brand and what size would fit you and then have at it. I am happily at a size 12 now but still have 30 more lbs to lose. I am a professional so I can't just wear whatever. I love J. Crew but hate their prices especially during this size transition. I got skirts for $10 that are normally over $100. Beautiful tops for $8-15. When I am done with them I will resell them on eBay!

Little success after a year
MiniMi replied to vickisgrey's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have a friend who was banded three years ago, lost 40 lbs initially then nothing for TWO YEARS but she kept going to her appointments and then she happened to hit the perfect restriction for her and the weight just melted off... After TWO YEARS. She is now at goal and looks fab. Her advice to me was just trust the process even if you doubt yourself and continue moving forward.
