    Impatient And Annoyed!! Aetna...vent

I complained to the person that I know who was banded 2 years ago about this long process and this exam and this hoop etc and she just smiled at me and said " it's ok! Because when you finally get the band it will be ALL GOOD" so I hung in there and now I'm banded and guess what.. It's all good! Started the process in jan 2012. Insurance pre auth was submitted two weeks before surgery on 10/5. The 9 month in between was just a joke! Hang in there all, it'll all be good!

Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!

By " this diet" do you mean the 7 day carb cycle or the whole lb experience? Thanks for your reply.

Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!

Umm yes it does. Calories in - calories burned= results. Are you stalled and doing carb cycling or are you just trying it to try? I didn't read through all 15 pgs so excuse me if you have already posted the reply to this. Have you been doing it a while? Have you seen a difference? Missy did great losing over 5 lbs! That's exciting. Again, thanks in advance for not chewing me up and spitting me out. I'm just curious!

Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!

I have a couple of questions. Are you supposed to exercise with this program? Is it meant for long term or "7 days"? I am new and I am losing successfully (so far) but think that this is obviously an interesting thread. There is a lot of buzz around it for sure. Since the contestants on BL are also working out A LOT AND body builders use this the lean out I was just wondering LONG TERM how it would effect a LB patient who is not exercising? Is it meant to go hand in hand with exercising? Is it meant to be used for 7 days then go back to "regular eating" Clean carbs are meant to give you energy and teach your body to burn fat WHILE working out (or at least I thought) Thanks in advance for not eating me alive for asking!

    Weight Loss On Pre-Op Diet

Well Vanessa, I hope you recover from your shock fairly quickly because the hospital DID cover up my rings AND I had none of those issues that you described. Also, my surgeon was in the room when she did it and he said it was also fine. My rings were not too tight, I just forgot to take them off before getting to the hospital. I agree it is out of the norm but....I just stated what my experience was. Didn't mean to SHOCK anyone.

    New Here! Day 6 Post-Banding

Hely is right. I have a realize band and I was filled one month post op with 3ccs. I feel great and am rarely hungry now but I know I'm not in the green yet because I don't really feel restricted. My friend who had lapband before me lost 40 lbs out the gate and then stalled because she kept wanting more fills and more fills until they had to unfill and wait to start over. She didn't start dropping again until almost 2 years out. She told me to be satisfied when I got to the first tight feeling and not be too in a rush. My Dr told me that it doesn't matter the size of band or how much fill because each person is different. Pre-op 275.9lbs -surgery 10/5 265.0lbs -11/11/12 241.8lbs

    Post Fill Portions...

My nutritionist gave me the outlines, actually a life size print out of the plate and where each food should go. ( 7" plate ) Sidenote: The other night my kids set the table and gave me a big plate. I, lazy, just measured and placed the food on my big plate. My son looks over and says " THAT looks like you are just finishing up dinner , not just starting". HE Got up and changed my plate for me. Pre-op 275.9lbs -surgery 10/5 265.0lbs -11/11/12 241.8lbs

    New Here! Day 6 Post-Banding

Congrats on your new journey! Did anyone tell you about the gas? The " discomfort" of it? I think we should have been warned! If it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't have even known about gasX and heating pads and I only joined 8 days before surgery so I barely knew then! 14. I'm 6 weeks post op. my hubby and three kids know. One of my Bffs know. I told no one else. I am at a weekly work luncheon, I entertain often, and we do go out to dinner. No one has ever been the wiser. My mom asked me if I was on medifast. I said " I can't afford $300 a month, that's crazy" This is about me not anyone else. Don't feel any guilt or hesitation. Make your choice and don't look back! Pre-op 275.9lbs -surgery 10/5 265.0lbs -11/11/12 241.8lbs

    Lap Band In Italy

Hello! I lived in Italy for 13 years. Was on camp Darby for 6 and then live as a resident for the rest. I had all three of my children in the hospitals over there. There is no bedside manner, no frills in the hospitals but the doctors are top notch. If you happen to have to use the medical care in Italy do not be afraid, you will be in good hands.
