When I went running out of the bathroom screaming " I'm obese! I'm obese! I'm obese!" My family thought I had lost it! Ok mom! We know you are fat but come on, obese? Really? Ha!

October 2012 Bandsters

Omg! You're doing amazing! Had my second fill dec 3. Not hungry as much. Down 42 since preop. Banded 10/5! Third fill is dec 26! I made them move it up because of my annual deductible resetting jan 1st. Thanks for the update! -
I watched a YouTube video from a successful banded and I cannot remember who it was but she said the took this journey on like the 12 step program and did not date for a whole year. That way she could focus on the most important person, herself. It made a big impact on me and I think if you are in the position t o not divide your time it is a big gift! (3 kids, hubby, and father-in-law at home waiting for me every night!) Heartbreak is a pain but don't let it derail you when you are so close!

We all need counseling, lets face it! I was also told that I needed to work out some lifelong issues so that I can avoid back sliding. I've been happily banded since 10/5/12 ( down 42 lbs) -
Hello there MD! I've had two fills since being banded on 10/5. I'm down 42 lbs After the fills I didn't notice anything different about what I can or cannot eat. I eat the same. I just stay full a little longer. I still eat way too fast and don't chew like I should ( for sure). I am sure that my band will teach me a thing or two about that at my next fill or so. I have the realize band 14cc and I'm at 4.5 fill so far. GL to you!

Did you think you were too tight? What was going on medically to make your new dr think that? If I'm doing fine, able to keep food and liquids down, I'm not lying down and letting anyone poke be and take liquids out of my band! You do have the right to refuse you know. Sounds like something else was going on though. If everything is good now ask for another fill. If refused find another doctor.

I received a call the day before my surgery that my m-I-L had slipped into a coma. My husband was on an airplane within 6 hours. ( the only person who knew I was having surgery) My husband was gone 5 weeks. I had someone drop me off at the hospital and someone else pick me up. I literally didn't have any support and my m-I-L was dying. Not the same as having a broken heart from a cheating SOB but you can go it alone! I spent almost every waking hour on this forum. It really helped me!

Swelling after surgery
MiniMi replied to Startingover2012new's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Put some sweat pants on and relax. It's common. It's part of the journey. THIS TOO SHALL PASS! Congrats btw! -
Another thought, if your insurance is through your company: a lot of companies have insurance brokers who sell the insurance to the company. they also can fight for you. If the company is not too large you may be able to contact that person for assistance. Larger companies may not even know if there is one. Throwing on a 9k charge to get more money out of the claim is fraud and a breach of contract between the insurance company and the drs/ hospital. When you have insurance, the hospital/drs agree to the contract of the insurance they accept. Going around the contract to get more money is not ok. I'd fax that puppy to the insurance company and bring it to their attention. Also the BBB can help.

The only thing that I can see that may harm you is the Water intake. Dehydration is the biggest issue.. Dehydration effects the kidneys among other things. High Protein diets have an effect on the kidneys, causing stones. ( I've had issues in the past) Drinking enough fluids ensure proper function of the kidneys by flushing them out. Also, After you wash your dishes you rinse them off right? Well drinking water is a way to rinse the fat out of your body. As far as exercise goes, you'll get there. Or not. There are people who do not formally exercise during their journey but are still successful. It's not recommended though. For me, learning the new lifestyle and hitting the gym hard is too much to add to my already very full life. I just started a week ago doing three TRX classes a week. ( banded oct 5) I look at this journey like I'm learning to juggle. Give me one ball and I'll toss that, once I've got that down toss me in another one, and so on. Keep doing your successful actions. Increase your water intake however you can, and be aware of how much you move. You are doing great!

Friends With Benefits? How Do You Feel About It?
MiniMi replied to SteveFrett's topic in Rants & Raves
What a sweet story. You nailed it though, it is too intimate for at least one not to develop feelings. Congratulations! -
Lee, you are freakin amazing!
