  1. What helped me through the pre-op part was changing my mind set. It's not a diet to lose weight, it's a diet to ensure success of a surgical procedure. It's the same as when they make you fast before having blood work. My surgeon told me that if my liver was too heavy he couldn't do the procedure laparoscopically and would instead have to open me up! I wasn't having that so I decided to stick to the diet to make it work. I lost 12 lbs, had a successful surgery. But most of all, the change in mindset set my post op success in motion. I didn't ask a lot of questions to make the road easier. I didn't let my self cry over what i couldn't have. I just found out what was necessary to succeed, what foods I could eat, and just stuck to it. I was banded 10/5 and am down 47 lbs with 59 to go.

    I swear by hot tea. It helps before during and after my workouts. Keeps tummy and my minimi all warm and happy!
  5. I was wondering about the breast lift. One thing I notices with wls that didn't happen with my other attempts to lose weight is that by breasts this time around are gone! My hubby and boys think that " fake" breasts are disgusting. Maybe because the only ones they've ever seen are huge! ( from friends that have had them. ) I get so excited reading about your story. I can't wait until I have earned mine!

    4 days post-op

    The gas pain is definitely something that we aren't warned about before hand and its the worse part! No amount of pain meds can help. Good news is that it passes quickly enough! When you start seeing results though you'll look back and know it was worth it.

    I take hot herbal tea to the gym instead of water. I can't drink a lot anyway. Sipping something hot has helped me not feel tight. I have the Realize band. I do TRX classes 3x a week.

    Hello! I'm doing great! I'm going in for my third fill 12/26. I've lost 46 lbs so far and still going strong. Banded 10/5. I take TRX classes 3-4 times a week for now.

    What Is Your Job?

    I'm an accountant and CPA candidate, meaning I'm sitting for the exam soon. Started as the receptionist, loved it, moved to the accounting department and 9 years later I am partner in the firm. Taxes to me are exciting...don't laugh!
  17. I am touched by your story. You are not only your doctors success story but I dare say you should be a lap band poster child! I applaud you! ( as my children would say " you are a gentleman and a scholar!")

  19. About the same yes, usually high in sodium too. I recommend a low sodium version like organic chicken broth at trader joes or Safeway.
  20. Thank you for your insightful article. Don't emotional eat is something I've heard a million times but I rarely get practical ways on how NOT to. I've noticed that I am more emotional since the start of this journey, mainly because I don't stifle my feelings with food anymore.
  21. Track what you ARE eating and take it to your NUT. Also track time of day you are eating. Having a one on one conversation with your nutritionist will get you quicker results that listening to our suggestions. We couldn't possibly have all the information needed to effect change for you! Good luck and keep us posted! Btw, my gf didn't start losing until 2 YEARS after her band date and then it just dropped off!
