  1. Online at swansons Vitamins or even at costco. There are a lot of opinions out there and everyone is different. I opted for high quality along with value since this is my health we are talking about!

    Need guidance please!

Until you are in the green zone it is just another diet- so it has been rumored. I hate to tell you but it's not the Fluid in your band that causes you to lose weight but the quantity and quality of what you put in your mouth. I've also heard that once it is removed it takes a while to find the sweet spot even if you have the same amount in as before. If you do not want to gain weight then you will need to stick to the mathematical equation. Eat less calories that what you burn each day. This means knowing how much you burn and tracking what you eat. Lets just call these 5 lbs what they were, holiday lbs and move forward knowing that you are strong enough to work with the limited restriction you have and still lose the weight you want. Best wishes to you!
  4. That is amazing! I will have to keep that in mind for the future. I was approved first time around so I don't need it for this but you never know!

New here and need some advice!!

Yes you would know. The term is " slip" but a stitched-in band actually rips out of place and can cause a lot of pain and internal bleeding. Your mind set seems right though. What helped me during this terrible phase was to eat half of my mini meal at a time...I would eat half, go to the bathroom, log my food in to my fitness pal and then return to eat the rest later. This way I was always eating a little bit.
  6. Thanks for clarifying. This process is very interesting to me for obvious reasons.

    Post Op Hunger!!

Man oh man oh man I don't envy you at all! I would make a mushy and thin it out with milk until it was a liquid. Favorite: ricotta cheese, applesauce and Protein powder with milk. Or add a teaspoon of cream of rice to your shake!
  8. So obviously what I'm about to post is out of ignorance but... What happens to your port during and after surgery? Do the move it? Re-anchor it? Or is just in different spot altogether?

    Weight loss since surgery

I eat 800-850 cal a day (sometimes less) since soft food stage 3 months ago and I'm down 50 lbs and still losing regularly. This was cleared by my surgeon and my NUT, btw before anyone has a fit!

Can you go online and map out your run before you leave the house? I have the Nike app too but I like to know where I'm going before I head out.

Glad you joined us! We are going to the hills Sunday to do the trails. Just trying to keep it fun too!
  13. It is fluid. Don't take it to heart and don't overdo it either. Just take care of yourself. You've just had surgery and that's a big deal. Everything else will work out if you settle in and embrace the journey!

    mourning the loss of food

Well here lies the problem that got us all here today, eating for things other than hunger. I agree with you, taking my emotional crutch away forced me to start facing some issues I have avoid until now. My family also caught some hell. Finding another way to cope with emotions isn't easy but it is necessary IF you are serious about getting the weight off once and for all. Refocus your energy because you're not doing yourself any favors as it stands today. Wish you all the best!

  16. Two days out that sounds about right. But you should be introducing protein shakes here shortly. That will bump you up to about 500 cal. Stay hydrated!

Please join and post anyway. The goal is to keep us all moving in the right direction. I'm in Cali and I have the gym a block away AND I have a treadmill in my bedroom so I admit I'm set up more for success because its not snowing outside.
