Pre-Op Diet for June 10th Surgery
MiniMi replied to ArtM's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats to all of you who are about to be banded. I am chiming I with my two cents worth: As far as food you " cannot have again" it is not a NO it is a NOT NOW. You will eat everything you want ( there are things that will bug u or that u just can't do... For me it's shrimp go figure) I just said to myself that I can have it I just can't have it now. Changing your mindset is essential for success. For the preop diet -if you are hungry and can't make it it is better to have another two ounces of chicken than to say " screw it" and blow the whole thing with late night drive-through. ( my opinion of course) Art you did amazing just eating a cucumber! So smart! I'm thrilled with my success and I am sure you will be too! -
Eat before I go. Order something that has grilled chicken or fish. Take most of it home in a doggie bag.

Strange Question about Breath
MiniMi replied to DebHas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ketosis is the process where the body is metabolizing body fat to use on our sugar levels. So in other words bad breath can be because you are using fat or losing weight. Www.mddietclinic.com/how-to-combat-bad-breath-while-dieting/ -
Call your doctor. You are their walking referral and they want you to succeed. They can get you in for another fill. They know that the band is not a cure all and will support you and help you to succeed.

9 Reasons To Weigh & Measure Your Food
MiniMi replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Yes ma'am. Jk I do it and I'm successful for all the reasons you stated and one more.... I do it to prove to myself that I'm stepping out of my own way ( that has lead me to morbid obesity) and let my band do it's job. -
That's so wonderful! So happy for you!

Killing my progress with late night snacking!
MiniMi replied to Loprah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
QUIT THAT! I go in my room with a cup of herbal tea and pout sometimes... But I don't give it! If I can do it so can you! -
I make egg white, turkey sausage, and spinach in muffin tins. I make 12 at a time and freeze them. When in a hurry I pop one in the microwave for a minute and out the door I go.

When can i eat solid foods
MiniMi replied to clarissa83's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded Oct 5th. I was so new and green and confused and I can't believe so much time has past already. I'm down 72 lbs and I have the fluff left of 30 some lbs to lose. My dr wants me to lose another 23 but my goals are a little different. I literally just got out of my own way and let the band do its job and POOF it did. I work out. I always kept food that I can eat handy. I relax and enjoy the new lifestyle...fake it until I make it! -
There is a video on YouTube from Banded Wendy around New Year's Eve. It was about the " ugly" of the band and it talked about her night out drinking. Very insightful. Drinking with the band is tricky because very little goes a LONG way. You may want to try it out at home first until you know how it will effect you. I drink lemon drop Martina's when I go out. But like AJ I usually stick to wine. Red wine with all the calories that go along with it is good for you too. ( if its high quality, no boones farm and if its a glass or two.) Being a banster instantly makes you a cheap date, and a tipsy one too! Heehee.

Clarissa, You are doing great. You are prob a bit bored on this holiday weekend starting a new journey. Can't actually go to a BBQ and eat whatever. I know how you feel, I was there too. I sat on this forum for hours and days. I have been very successful so far and I am continuing to lose like clockwork. The one thing I did to be successful is just stick to what my team told me. The variations on this site, from surgeon to surgeon, is astronomical. You have to just read through and keep to your plan. Your dr will help YOU be successful. I'm so proud of you though. You have a good sense of humor. You will need some of that through this journey too. -
CG, I imagined that the old boyfriend who never called me back would come tumbling out of one of my fold once I started losing....ha! Sorry, crude joke. But now that I don't have any folds I can laugh about it.

Y'all think its too soon for a TT?
MiniMi replied to marly7's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I may not need a TT but a breast augmentation I will definitely do. Can't wait! But I'm going to do it as a reward for my hard work so I won't do it until I'm at goal. -
Simple things that skinny people take for granted every day because they are just part of life. It will always amaze me how before wls I would get all shaky and irritable if I didn't eat and now I can and do live on 1000 cal a day without any problem. It amazes me when I catch a glance at myself in a reflection of a glass door or window and I don't disgust myself. I can walk in a room and by far not be the heaviest one there. Running a 9 min mile average. Fitting in a booth at a restaurant. Bending down to pick something up without having to do that wide leg squat thing. Putting my wedding ring back on and having it now slide all over the place Being skinnier than my husband

Msmaui, I'm sorry to hear that. It must be a real disappointment for you. Are you going to have a revision? As for the comment about the lotto...( for the newbies) you have twice as much chance of being struck by lightening than winning the lotto ( big $ I mean) I believe the chances to live with a successful band story are much greater than that. Best wishes to you.

Check out Jeff Galloway. He is famous for his "walk/run" training. He also has training apps on iTunes called "lolo" easy 5, 10k etc.
