    Waiting A Year

    What insurance do you have?
  2. Today, I started my puree diet. I am not having a problem with pureed Protein, but I don't know what veggies to do. I did spinach and besides looking horrible, it kinda tastes horrible too. I was told by my dietician that I should not have corn, peas, or potatoes; so I am kind of at a loss of what to do. I know having a little bit of mashed potatoes here and there is not going to kill me so I could do that sometimes, but I was wondering what everyone else finds helpful.

    Diet Soda

I was told carbonated beverages are a BIG, BIG, BIG NO NO! The bubbles can upset our pouches and I was even told that it can expand the pouch. I think since I had a 2 week pre-op diet I had to do that broke that habbit quickly; and I rarely have the taste for a pop. I have read that some people let things 'decarbonate' (or go flat) so the bubbles aren't there; but I haven't tried that. My husband and I have a SodaStream maker at home so if I wanted the taste of pop, I could make something without carbonation, or very, very little amounts of carbonation.

    21 New To Lapband

I won't lie, it was emotionally rough. Physically I was not hungry and just made sure to keep drinking Water (or Powerade Zero) during the day. During those 2 weeks I really saw the unhealthy relationship I had with food; which I didn't think was as bad before I started it. But don't worry, you will get through it; you have to keep in mind the good that will come out after it. I can say now that I have been banded, some food doesn't even seem as appealing as it used to and food is nutrition and nothing else.
  5. Today I am two weeks post-op and feeling amazing!! I get to start mushy food today and cannot wait!! On the menu is egg salad for Breakfast and chicken salad for lunch. dinner is yet to be determined! It feels so good to have done something that is going to ensure my health in the future; along with the health of future babies!

    What Veggies Do You Puree?

I like the V8 idea! I love V8; I forgot though that it counted as a veggie. I guess I can try that for the days that I don't have anything else. And I would just drink it at least a half hour after I eat so I am not drinking and eating.

No matter what with weight loss there might be some loose skin. It all depends on many things. One of those things being genetics. Another being how much weight needs to be lost. And then the amount of excercise and toning you do. I am almost 25 and just was banded 2 weeks ago and was told that while there will be lose skin, it will not be as bad because the weight loss is gradual and because I am young. Just have to remember to work out and use some type of lotion (coca butter or some firming lotion). Also I have seen body wraps that are supposed to help; but at the same time I do not know how legitimate they are. Just think, no matter if there is loose skin; you will be healthier and feel better once the weight is off. That is why SPANX are amazing and I have seen after pictures of people in bikinis after WLS.

    Protein Help!!

I also bought the one from GNC but after comparing it to UNJURY powder took it back and bought that. The UNJURY powder is made for weight loss surgery; and that's what my nutritionalist suggested.

    Fitbit

Thanks! I cannot wait to get one. I am going to order the new model though because its water-resistant. It comes out in a few weeks.

So it doesn't seem to not give you steps or add too many being clipped there? I am large chested and I don't want my girls to give me more than I should; I want my steps to be honest. LoL.
  12. I started the process in July 10, 2012 and was banded October 10, 2012. I went in with a starting weight of 280 lbs and was told that I would be able to lose over 100 lbs sucessfully. It depends on how well you lose the band. Again there have been people on this forum that have lost HUNDREDS of pounds; so your doctor saying less than that is giving you the worst case senario. Since starting my pre-op diet until today, I have lost over 30 lbs. I can also admit that I was starting to have second thoughts before the surgery; and it was based on the fear of never eating Pasta and things like that again. However, as I continued to think about it, I thought to myself, "Is my health and future pregnancies really worth less than bread and pasta?!?!" I can even admit too that right as I was being brought into the recovery room I thought to myself, "WHAT HAVE I DONE!??!" (I think that was the pain meds and all the other meds though). I have been banded for about 2 weeks and could not be happier! I know that I am going to be so much healither; and that is what matters the most. As for the scary divorce statistic; I don't believe that one bit. Maybe people think that if one spouse is overweight so is the other; and then the surgery would result in jealousy and conflct, but I don't think so. My husband is very lean and weighs about 147 lbs. (as you can see from my picture) and is so supportive of this process. As long as you love each other and support each other it won't be a problem. I think the myth that once people lose weight that they stray is also a bunch of crap. Yeah we gain more confidence but that does not mean we are going to do things that are dangerous to our relationships; but that does not go for everyone.

    Shirataki Noodles

Has anyone tried Shirataki Noodles. Pasta is the one thing that I think I am really going to miss if I cannot stomach it. I am only a week post-op so I obviously have not tried anything thicker than yogurt; so who knows, maybe I will be okay with pasta.
  14. Wow that seems late for a post-op appointment. Each surgeon does it different, but I would think if it is 2 weeks and mushy food is just starting that there would not be a fill that early.
  15. I have my post-op appointment at the end of the month and he is just going to look at my incisions. I think the first fill would not be until after we are into the solid stage. And keep in mind that some people do not even get fills sometimes. I feel the same way about knowing how it fits. Since we are still the liquid phase it will be hard to tell; if at all. I start mushies next week and cannot wait until I get that full feeling. As for the feeling queasy, I don't know much about that. I only felt queasy after I got up the first time at the hospital. Just take it slow and take LITTLE LITTLE LITTLE bites and sips. I don't think I went to anything that was not clear until about 4 days after surgery; I was allowed to but I was scared. Popsicles were, and still are, my friend.

Did you have it replaced since it was leaking?

    Celery

How are people with eating celery? I start mushies next week and like to add it in my tuna and chicken salads. The pieces would be very, very small as I would use my food processor to chop it.

Not salad with lettuce. Tuna/Chicken salad from a can of either meat, fat free mayo, and some seasonings.

    Help With Mushies

So I have a week until mushies and am trying to get more ideas for foods. Is chilli okay if I make it pretty smooth? Since it got cold out here (I'm in Chicago) I have been craving chilli!!

What Do You Mix Unjury Into?

As I type, I am having tomato Soup with unjury powder in it. I have also mixed it into yogurt too. One thing I like in the morning is a cup of milk, a container of yogurt, and a scoop of Unjury blended together. It's a nice smoothie! I am only a week post-op so I am still only on liquids (nothing thicker than yogurt).
