  1. Since my surgery I have followed my post-op diet to the T. I also developed pneumonia on Day 4 although I used the spirometer faithfully. I'm currently on breathing treatments every four hours, steroids, oral antibiotics, cough syrup in additional to a HUGE shot of Rocephin. I see my surgeon on Thursday and I am not happy. I haven't lost a single pound. What am I doing wrong?

    I Need A Buddy/mentor!

Thank you for your encouragement. I added you as a friend and would like to discuss issues with you as they come about.
  3. Currently very discouraged. 13 days post-op with pneumonia and NO weight loss. I'm ready to cry.
  4. Thanks everyone for the encouragement. After my last post, my PCP called me back to his office because he was very concerned about the pneumonia not responding to the meds and steriods. After examination, he sent me straight to the emergency room where I stayed for the next eight hours. After additional xrays, a CT scan (due to possible blood clot in my lungs), two shots of Rocephin, three breathing treatments and a steroid injection (at one point there were two IV's in the same arm - both going strong), it was determined I had a viral respiratory infection with bronchial spasms and asthmatic symptoms ON TOP of pneumonia in my left lung. Geezzzzz.....I knew I was sick but this confirmation smacked me in the face. Its been 5 days since that ER visit and I'm finally starting to feel human again although an 8 hour work day is still kicking my butt. Good news is I'm starting to see changes in how my clothes fit and look on me. I'm staying off the scale for now (pinky promise to myself) and don't plan on getting it out until 2 weeks of my first fill. Again, thank you for your concern, encouragement and suggestions.

    First Fill

I haven't had a fill but going to my first post-op appointment tomorrow. I feel absolutely no different than before surgery. I've followed the post-op diet to a T but I haven't lost a pound. I'm hoping for a band fill so I can start losing weight. I also developed pneumonia 4 days post op and have been extremely sick. I'm discouraged to say the least.
  6. I didn't have any bandages at all, only glue. I was told I could shower after 24 hours and have done so each day. The glue on my incisions is starting to flake off and everything looks healthy (no redness, oozing, etc). If you aren't experiencing any issues with your incision sites, it seems it would be ok at this point. Let us know if you find out different.

    Just Banded

Post Surgery Day 4 - Today - I worked 1/2 day and was exhausted. Although I an using my incentive spirometer, I am coughing like crazy, wheezing, and my lungs hurt when I breathe. I called my doctor's office who referred me to my PCP who happens to be out of town for the rest of the week. I ended up at the Quickcare and after a chest x-ray was told everything was clear and to go home and rest. So far, this has not been a productive medical procedure. I haven't lost an once, I feel like I've been beat in my chest and stomach region and I still do not feel like myself.

    Just Banded

My surgery was Friday and I planned to return to work on Monday. However.........I may call it an office day here at home for the next few days before I actually work out of my home. I feel very shaky almost nervous. My stomach is hard as a rock even though I have had a BM. Mostly, I don't like feeling like myself. I am M.I.S.E.R.A.B.L.E.

    Just Banded

This morning was a different story. Abdominal pain and nausea to the nth degree. I sure hope this stage goes away and soon.
  10. I am so excited that tomorrow is my surgery! Finally! I have made all the preparations (I think) and starting to get a wee-bit nervous.

    Tomorrow Is The Big Day!!!

I slept well, however woke up at 6:30am in major pain and extremely nauseated. My stomach feels like I've done 1,000 crunches! I may have over done it yesterday. Has anyone else had the same experience?

My surgery was today, as well, and my experience nearly the same. Thank the good Lord!

    Weight Watchers

I did the WW online during my six month pre-op phase. So so easy! Now I'm armed with the necessary information for a successful post-op ~ if I can keep my willpower!

    Tomorrow Is The Big Day!!!

I did the two week all liquid Protein diet (mostly Slim-fast drinks and Atkins Diet Drinks), two days before began the cleansing wash and Listerine mouthwash. I arrived at the hospital at 6:15 am, was taken to pre-op at 7am, and surgery by 8am. Left hospital by 11am. I actually feel decent. I've been up and about every two hours to walk around my home and do a few light activities mainly because the gas has settled under my left shoulder blade. By doing so, the gas has subsided. Important Note: I've taken my Phenergan and the Lortab elixir right on time. We'll see what tomorrow brings !?! Joanna
