I take chewables Caltrate 600+D plus minerals. it was on the list I got from my doc. I can pretty much find it anywhere....kroger, walmart, gnc, walgreens
-
Prescription meds??? I would try to split them if they are too big OR talk to your primary care doc to see if there is a liquid form or maybe another that may come smaller. Your daily multi Vitamins and calcium should be chewables (or liquid) Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

I'm glad I found this thread because I have been wondering the same thing lately about caffeine. I don't think I drink too much caffeine but I was worried about it because I want my band to last foreeeeeeeeeverrrrrrrrrr I only have 2 or 3 cups of coffee in the morning and 1 or 2 cups of hot green tea at night. I haven't had soda in several years. I will say I did try to drink a cherry limeade from sonic back during the summer and It foamed up and came right back out SO since then I haven't taken that chance any more. I can't even drink beer any more ( I know we aren't supposed to any way but I did a few times and it got to were it just foamed up also). So now I'm working on becoming a wine aficionado (I really don't drink that much LOL!) Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

Almost Human Again....almost

You're not losing too fast. I lost 23lbs my first month, then 10, then 8, then nothing, then just 4 or 5 in a month and now I'm lucky if I lose 4lbs. So you will probably slow down some. I'm only like 25lbs from my goal and I get the feeling that my body is gonna make me fight for it Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk -

I think my slippage was from being too tight, which is totally my fault because I was so eager NOT to feel hungry that I kept telling my dr every month that I felt like u needed a fill. I learned a really tough lesson. Gotta respect the band Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

If you suspect your band has slipped you need to call your DR before it gets any worse. If you are worried that yours has slipped but aren't having too bad of symptoms maybe try liquids for a few days. If you're able to keep just liquids down..... If not please all your dr because it can get pretty bad. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

I couldn't keep anything down. Not even Water. Mine happened over the weekend and I spent a whole weekend throwing up plus my saliva kept "foaming" up. I would be sitting in the chair and all of a sudden there's foam coming out of my mouth. I had to keep tissues or a rag with me at all times. I was afraid to sleep because I would wake up choking. I was so scared that I was going to choke to death on my own saliva. It was extremely scary Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

Yes mine slipped last month. My Dr. drained my band and put me on liquids for a week and did a recheck Thankfully it went back into place. I had to wait 3 more weeks before they would start putting any fluid back in. Last week was when I was able to get it. they put back in half of what I had when it slipped. It really sucks starting all over.

Down 102 Lbs & Depressed!
2justme replied to RoniB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally agree with everyone on going to thrift stores and yard sales. My size is changing so much and so fast that I'm at the Goodwill and several other church run thrift stores every week. And if you look good enough a lot of times you can find expensive name brand stuff for just a few bucks. I absolutely love shopping at the thrift stores. I've done it so long that it kills me to go into a department store and pay full price LOL! Most of the time I won't even do that, I will wait until Macy's is having their big clearance sale and then I find a 15 or 20% off coupon and get really nice stuff for a little bit of nothing. Just Got Filled Cant Keep Saliva Down
2justme replied to latinamom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
As far as I know and someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think the only thing that is stitched is the port. Throwing up from over eating, eating too fast or bring too tight can cause the band to slip. They drained mine, spent a week on liquids and thankfully it went back. It's pretty painfull and scary when you have a slippage and I urge everyone to be really careful because its not something you want to experience. I was so bad that I was afraid I was going to asphyxiate in my sleep. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk -
Just Got Filled Cant Keep Saliva Down

I hope they get you in first thing in the morning because my band was too tight and I just tried to "tough" it out because I didn't want to have any taken out because I didn't want to feel hungry and I hoped I would loose weight quicker BIG mistake on my part and a HARD lesson learned...... My band slipped and they had to end up draining my band thankfully it went back but I had to wait a month before they would put anything back in so I am starting over from the beginning pretty much...... You don't want that to happen... I have to be extra careful from now on cause they say once it slips it has the tendanacy to slip again Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk -
Gained 5 Lbs Since Surgery?!
2justme replied to kittylove32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It worried me after I had mine done. I put on some clothes that should have been able to wear about 3 or 4 days after my surgery and they were so tight and uncomfortable, I had to dig out some of my bigger clothes to wear that night and it really upset me. I was worried I had made a mistake by getting the LB done BUT 8 months and 50some lbs later I know I made the right decision. Just give your body time to heal. And before you know it you will look back and think "what was I so worried about " Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk -
Way to go! Congrats! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

Yea my weight fluctuates that much. It really stresses me out sometimes, especially when I'm getting in good workouts and eating properly and the scale keeps going up. I think as long as your clothes are still fitting the same I wouldn't worry tooooo much about it......... I know, easier said than done..... AND I should probably practice what I preach Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

This is gonna be a loooong day....dog woke me up at 2:30 and the alarm clock was going off at 4:10, right at about the time I was just starting to fall back to sleep, hubs wouldn't wake up until 4:30, I have no idea why he wants me to set the alarm for the times he does cause it always takes me 30mins or more to get him awake...... HOPEFULLY I can catch a nap today.

OMG! this is so me! I have a really deep addiction to my scale, I have been like this since 2005 when I first started Jenny Craig and bought one of their scales. I'm still using that same scale today.... I did go and buy a new one several months ago, got it home, set it up then hubby and I both weighed on it and it was showing both of us about 3 lbs heavier than the JC scale........ He made me take it back My hubby use to get aggrivated with me and my scale obsession, he even took it to work with him several times so I couldn't use it, but since I had my LB done this year he started to eat better and exercise with me and he is getting obsessed more than me, I actually think he might be worse because he will weigh in the morning and at night.....me I ONLY weigh in the morning in my birthday suit right before I jump in the shower. If I don't weigh I feel like I've missed "something" all day long and it will be on my mind until the next morning. I don't dare weigh at night OR in the morning if I have already had my breakfast because I know that I will weigh more (but that would probably be a truer weight) When I go for my weigh ins and adjustments I won't eat anything until after my appointment (I always schedule them first thing in the morning) Yes I am in deep..... I have a serious addiction to weighing.........

I hate the scale today I really should stop weighing every day because it's really depressing to see that you are up 3lbs in 24hrs How is that possible! UGH!

When Was Your First Bowel Movement?
2justme replied to kittylove32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I made the mistake of drinking some Metamucil after I had my surgery because I was worried about not going...... BIG mistake! I was sooo uncomfortable and miserable feeling. It actually had me a little scared because I was heaving/gagging. SO what ever you do don't try to drink any kind of fiber drink like Metamucil or fiber one. I think i ended up taking some milk of magnesia or mylanta (which ever one is for constipation lol!). It didn't really seem to do anything, probably because I was on liquids -
I would say that I was a carbaholic and on occasion a sugarholic (maybe tied to my emotional eating). I crave carbs mostly when it gets close to "that time of the month" if I am craving bread I will usually make me something with a tortilla. you can find low carb brands and there's one brand that I buy that only has 80 calories. Using tortillas seems to satisfy my bread craving. So maybe you could try replacing your bread with tortillas. I make pizzas with them (since I don't too much eat/drink dairy I use diya veggie cheese it's really good) you can put a little butter on them and heat them in a skillet as a replacement for toast (even sprinkle some cinnamon/sugar on them) and make wraps. One of my favorite thing to make is shrimp or fish tacos. I never really ate rice or white potatoes (LOVE sweet potatoes) and sometimes I miss pasta, especially when I see an Olive Garden commercial there was a time when it was really hard to resist taking a bite of Mac n cheese when I had to make it for the kids but that temptation has gotten easier. I think mostly because I don't want to throw up and since I've already had a slippage I'm a lot more strict on myself. But you are defiantly not alone with being a carbaholic. I think it's something we all deal with.

True Results Houston Texas
2justme replied to NaNcyNiCoLe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dr Hollis did my surgery at True Results on March 2nd of this year. I really liked him and like all the people there. I've never attended one of the monthly support meetings but have always been curious about them and wondered how many people usually showed up. I've always wonder about having the band long term also. I think I've read a lot of stories from people having the band taken out and I've wondered why they would want to have it taken out and they've seemed happy about getting it taken out. It would devastate me if I had to have mine out.
