    fifties and pre-op surgery support

Hi! thanks so much for replying. Had my surgery yesterday and i feel pretty good. You were on BP meds and got off - I'm on BP meds now and would love to get off - how did that happen for you? Anyway, what awesome results you had! Hooray for you - yes, I'm really looking forward to changing my life and to being me. Thanks again, you made my day. Best wishes, Anna

    fifties and pre-op surgery support

Hi. So happy to see forum for women in fifties. I am 55, will be banded tomorrow. Am pretty nervous, but desperate to use band as tool to restart second half of my life. Have 95 lbs to lose (my goal, not my doctor's) so I stop feeling like an old woman, and have more confidence in my life. I too have an incredible husband, so lucky there. I just cannot imagine how I will fill the space food has taken up in my life, but am determined to try. Would love to hear positive stories from other 50+ women. Best wishes!

    October Bandsters?

Surgery tomorrow in NJ in storm. Still on. Excited for surgery but so hungry! Only had to do one day of clear liquids, still hungry. One week of clear liquids after. Crazy that surgeon is not canceling surgery during storm. Anyway, stay safe everybody.

    Frankinstorm

Good morning all! Here in NJ hoping storm doesn't come - scheduled for surgery Tuesday! And I've been waiting so long. Surgeon won't tell me if it's on or off until Monday. Anyway, question: I've always been a "stuffer" of food - does the lapband help? From all I've read lap band success is all in the head. Thoughts?

    October Bandsters?

You all are fabulous! I don't post regularly, but the support here is fabulous. Oct 30 for me. Have to have nuclear stress test first. Crazy all different diets depending on surgeon. For me, just day before - liquids only, but after, one week of only clear liquids, then two weeks of mushies. Anybody know how long after surgery we have to wait to start walking again- like around the neighborhood?

    Halloween Bandsters?

Hooray for you! I'm October 30. Only one day of pre-op diet required. So many differences among surgeons. Good luck!

This forum made my day! My date is October 30, but my biggest worry was not being able to start the day with coffee!

    I Have Arrived!

Wow! Great post. Is there a way to pin it so I can read again and again. Just starting out - Oct 30 date. Keeping it very private - just my husband and me. My doctor is not having me do any pre-surgery diet, only liquids day before. Should I start one anyway? Am 195 and 5 feet nothing. Anyway, thanks again for great post.
  11. Awesome. Thanks for encouragement Lassie! My date is 10/30, and even though I'm excited, I too am afraid of screwing it up - at 55 feeling same way about having to get it right now. So positives are really appreciated! By the way, do I have to give up coffee?

    October 22 Surgery Date!

Good morning! Good luck! I'm October 30 and feel so lucky that my insurance is paying for this, and that I have a chance at freeing myself from the physical and psychological burden of being so fat! This forum is awesome - I love the success stories! We October bandsters are going to do great! I 'm planning on taking a week off from work post op to get used to newness. Anybody have similar plans? How do you manage liquids once back to work? Thanks for sharing! Have a fabulous day ...counting down!
