    New to journey

i used to drink a 2 liter of diet pepsi a day,if i can kick the soda habit...anyone can!!!! now i live on diet snapple, water and crystal light...not gonna lie,i still crave soda once in awhile....but when i think of the risks i'd be taking with my band, thats enough to stop the cravings!!

    Over halfway to my goal!

i think you are doing great!!!! i had my surgery oct5,and around christmastime,i saw a cousin that i have not seen since the summer before,by then i had lost about 45 lbs(thats including the liquid diet pre surgery)....and i was telling him how im losing but its sooo slow...he looked at me and said "are you crazy? who loses 45 lbs in 2 months without excercising?? all the fat people in the world would kill for that!!"....And those words put everything into prespective for me.
  4. you are doing really great!!! i had my surgery on oct5....my god,its been 7 months already?? with all the changes going on and all the things you have to adjust to post surgery....the time really flew by!!
  5. also,be very careful that you dont get dehydrated....sip some gatorade or suck on ice chips
  6. i agree with the others about calling your dr,but in the meantime, try some hot chicken broth...i lived on that after surgery!!

Substitute for Pizza? Mac and Cheese?

i still eat pizza but have noticed that i cant tolerate it straight from the box(too soft and doughy)....i need to reheat it in the oven til crispy, then its fine.

  11. hmmm, could it be seasonal allergies thats making my band feel too tight? any thoughts??

  12. angelize

    too tight??

i went for a fill last wed, drank the glass of water at the drs office....was fine...went home, had half a glass of iced tea and ended up vomiting for 2 hrs!! couldnt sleep all night, kept feeling like i was chocking...the next day i called my dr,they couldnt give me an appt until next monday!! i stayed on liquids until sunday, was able to keep down about half of the liquids i swallowed. sunday comes, and im able to eat and drink just fine!! then mon and tues, cant eat anything again!! then yesterday(wed),i ate just fine!! now today,i cant eat anything!! soo weird!! not sure if i should keep my appt or not! also,it doesnt help that my surgeon is only in his staten island office 1 day a month, which means i have to travel to nyu in the city...and pay for parking and tolls....just because i prob need a little unfill!!!
  13. angelize

    too tight??

his main office is nyu in the city,he only comes to staten island one day a month....since my surgery, ive been afraid that this would happen....i mean,i guess its ok since i am able to drink and it seems like i can tolerate yogurt in the morn and a light light lunch....after that i cant eat anything, even tho i feel like im starving!! and it doesnt matter how slow i eat or how small the bites are either...i just dont know if im too tight or if its normal. my other fills werent like this
  14. angelize

    Which vitamins????

my dr told me a flintstones complete vitamin was fine, and i take a chewable calcium plus d
  15. another way of knowing you need a fill is when you find that you are able to eat things that you normally wouldnt be able to eat.
  16. angelize

    Too tight ? Swollen ? MISERY !

i had the same problem! i went for a fill last wed, drank the glass of water in the drs office...was fine...went home, had half a glass of iced tea,and ended up vomiting for 2 hrs. couldnt sleep all night, kept feeling like i was chocking.the next day,i called my doctor, they couldnt give me an appt until this coming monday! i stayed on liquids until sunday, was able to hold down about half of the liquids i swalowed.sunday comes and im able to eat and drink just fine!! then, mon and tuesday....same problem!! then yesterday (wed),i ate just fine...today,cant eat anything!! sooo weird!! not sure if i should even go to my appt or not!!

    Keeping it a secret

before my surgery,i told everyone i knew..lol..i'm 2 months post op and when customers come into my job and ask how i lost weight,i tell them the truth...so far, everyone has been supportive...but maybe its because of the way i tell them...i am proud of myself for having the guts to make a drastic change in my life and i guess that comes through in the telling!

    that'll never be me

a heavy woman comes into my job today,a reg customer who hasnt seen me in awhile. she starts telling me how great i look and how i lost so much weight and asking what i did,so i tell her i had lapband surgery in october.she then tells me how she had lapband 2 yrs ago! my first thought after she tells me that is....that'll never be me...until i stop to think for a minute and i realize...that can very easily be me! like everyone says...until you have a fill, this is just another diet. the woman was telling me that she hasnt had a fill in over a year and prob ended up stretching her band by eating unhealthy and overeating. what she said had me so worried....i have not had a fill yet,not for lack of trying but due to nyu still not up and running after the hurricane. and ive noticed that while i have restriction all day and can barely swallow anything for breakfast and lunch...by dinnertime all my restriction is gone and i have to remind myself not to overeat!! i work 40 hrs a week and have been very active in work...so active that i dont have the energy to exersise when i get home...which is prob why im not losing much. im still losing, but very slowly.... i know that eventually everything will click into place and i'll find my sweet spot...but until then, its very frustrating!!
  22. angelize

    helppp

i also have trouble with boiled eggs...i love them, but my band doesnt always let me have them! as for the original topic...usually halfway through my meal,i will get a dull ache in my back..and as ive learned, that is my full feeling..its weird, and took me awhile to get used to,but if you listen to your body, you'll know when you're full, way before it becomes uncomfortable!
  23. angelize

    oatmeal!

my breakfast is 1 pkg of quaker sugar free oatmeal,it tastes good and keeps me full for about 5 hrs....but,i def wasnt allowed to eat that at 4 days post op..way too thick to swallow at that stage.
  24. angelize

    that'll never be me

thank you guys! i got on the scale this morn and am down 4 lbs from last sunday,so im happy about that!! its just scary because after everything we go through before the surgery, then the surgery and the recovery...it seems unfair that we still have to struggle so much to lose a lb or 2!!
  25. angelize

    yikes, night hunger!! what's up?

i have the same problem, but i really think its just head hunger. i have restriction all day, then at dinnertime,my restriction flies out the window. BUT....heres something that happened to me a few weeks ago....i work on saturdays from 8am-7pm. i eat breakfast at 7,lunch at 1230 and dinner(on saturdays) at 730...so on that day,i made oatmeal for breakfast and could only get 1 spoonful down, tuna for lunch, again could only get 1 forkful in before i felt sick....by 7pm,i was starving(or so i thought)...i made lentils and rice...took 1 bite and i was done! the next day i realized,i can really go without eating all day and NOT BE HUNGRY!! head hunger has to be the hardest thing about this surgery!! it really messes with you!
