  1. I'm almost 4 wks post op down 30 lbs. and met with my NUT yesterday and she has me in 800 to 1100 calories a day, plus 64 oz of water per day - I walk 3 to 4 miles every day and is working out very well. I average about 800 to 900 calories per day. When I start jogging it may be a different story.
  2. When I attended a support group the surgeon described lap band as just sticking your toe in the water where as gastric bypass has less of a chance of regaining weight - I am leaning towards gastric bypass my BMI is 39.5 weight 235 like to lose 100 pounds -- looking forward to meeting with the surgeon on 10/5/12 for my consultation. Any thoughts?

    1st Day on Pureed Food

I was told corned need hash puréed is a good one -- or make a beef stew for your family minus the potatoes and puree that -- not very pleasing to the eye but tasty and has protein. I add unflavored Syntrax nectar protein to everything - chamomile tea, sf pudding, crystal lite, soup, cream of wheat, etc. make sure when you add into hit liquids not to exceed 130 degrees. I am 11 days post of and down 21.5 lbs ... Walking 2 plus miles a day and eager for puréed entree on Monday!!!!!????????????

    Anyone Have Similar Numbers

That's encouraging that you were approved w/ similar #'s. hopefully my file will be submitted tomorrow. I have supplied all my weights for the past 5 years and are all in the range of plus or minus 10 lbs. It is all I can think about.

    Anyone Have Similar Numbers

I was quoted an estimate of $20k -- that is not an option I hope for :-(
  14. Surgeon recommended sleeve for me considering amount to lose, plus absorbtion issues with GB, no dumping with sleeve, your spinchter muscle is left in tact (YUK) and very minimal follow-up! Was a well run office, huge staff, go back to meet with nutrionist, need ultrasounds on GI and stomach, sleep study, psych visit. That's it for now Been thinking of our conversation alot today -- I appreciate your advise!
  15. Well, went today and the surgeon suggested sleeve for a few reasons. No absorbtion or dumping issues as with RNY, minimal follow up, no rearranging of the spinchter muscle (yuk) right choice for my weight loss goals, great results - I guess my stomach will be the size of a banana??
  16. Well, went today and the surgeon suggested the sleeve for a few reasons. No absorbtion or dumping issues as with RNY, minimal follow up, no rearrangibg of the spinchter muscle (yuk) right choice for my weight loss goals, great results. I guess my stomach will be reduced to the size of a banana! I think this is the one for me.....

    Age

What factor does age have in your decision for RNY vs LB ... I am 230 lbs and 46 with thyroid and no metabolism to speak of! Thus my exploring these options..... I have my consultation with surgeon on Friday and looking forward to his opinion.

    Age

Thanks for your informative response. That is exactly what my husband says ... Why take the risk of having to having to have it corrected down the road! It is such a scary process - but I want this to be it ... I said it in my 20's, 30's then 40's that this will be the year ... And yo yoing is not an option anymore .... How much weight have you lost?

  21. Thanks for the Welcome and reply! ????I am trying to keep an open mind until my mtg. But I feel that I will be discouraged if LB is recommended.. Too much maintenance and fine tuning and easy to trick from what I heard ... I hope my #'s work for GB ... And I agree with what you said about the faster results. Did you ever feel like what have I done? Post surgery?
