I finally hit that sweet spot. I don't have to go back for 6 weeks!!! I am only eating a 1/2 a cup of food at a time. I didn't think that would ever happen. Does anyone still have trouble with regurgitation even though you're eating slowly and chewing your food into mush?

Had my surgery October 8 and have lost 45 pounds. I thought it would be more, but it's a steady loss. I guess I didn't put it on over night, so I won't take it off over night. I have gone down 4 dress sizes. Finally I can buy some things not in the women's section. That part is awesome!

i thought someone had beaten me with a ball bat. I was banded 10/8 and I still have some bruising.

You'll do great!

I was banded on 10/9 without restrictions. I was starving, or so I thought, but what I do now is eat about 1/2 to 1 cup every 3 hours or so of mostly protein. Turkey or chicken lunch meet, some cheese (laughing cow) and maybe half a single serve applesauce. That really works well. Or I really like humus and cucumbers. I lost more weight doing this because my body wasn't going into starvation mode. Hope this helps.

I don't do sugar or carbs either. I am wondering if instead of 3 meals I do six smaller meals with a little protein with each one? Any suggestions?
-
Ok I need help. Banded 11days ago with no restriction. I am starving. I am still sticking to the cup, but man is it tough. Should I do protein shakes (preop) leftovers if I get Hungary?

I didn't even know I had a hiatal hernia. My surgeon said it was huge, but I was asymptomatc. I am glad you are doing better.
-
hang in there! The first night is the worst. I had to sleep in my recliner. Don't try and be tough, let the nurse know your pain level. If it gets away from you, it will be hard to catch up.

I saw my therapist today..unrelated to lapband...she told me that my decision to have surgery was really brave. I could have everything status quo, but like all of you decided to take my life back. With that being said, this means that I have to follow the advise of the people who know best. After all if I could do it on my own I wouldn't have needed the surgery. So, if I am brave for taking my life back then so are all of you!
-
Good luck to all of you having surgery tomorrow! I certainly haven't regretted my choice. I have already lost 23 pounds since preop and surgery 2 weeks ago. I feel great and already have a lot more energy.

Don't you feel sometimes like you've gained and lost 3 or 4 4th graders over the years? I know I do. We need to remember to not compare ourselves with anyone else. We need to celebrate our successes no matter how small. We are gonna get there 1pound at a time.

I feel like I now that I have been banded, I am breaking up with my longest, most reliable relationship. My relationship with food. Food has been my constant. It has been a comfort, a stable, but also a crutch. For so long I have depended on food, worrying about what I am having for dinner at 9 a.m. I now don't worry about it as much. My worry comes from making sure that I follow the plan to the letter. We all need to remember that we did not come to need weight loss surgery over night and we are not going to lose the weight over night. Patience is the key and not the instant gratification that got us to this place in the first place. Hang tough everyone. It's a journey and not a race.

Ok, if you are a parent just think of it as the best sleep you've gotten in a while. No worries. You'll do great!

Work After Surgery
jlbachmann replied to MumtoJackson's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 10/8 and went back to work today. I am still a little tired, but it was good to go back to work. I did find I had to be much more prepared. I had to make sure I had my Breakfast and lunch chopped up and measured out. But, so far so good. I think it will all depend on how you feel. Believe me you'll know whether you are ready or not. -
It does get easier. I was banded 10/8. I was sick of the protein shakes and soup. But, my surgery went smoother because of my "skinny liver," which was good because I had an undiagnosed hiatle hernia that needed to be repaired. It also helped me to visualize what a cup looks like and how I feel after eating a cup. I just got onto mushies yesterday. Good luck and remember it will be well worth it.

I got banded on the 8th and have been doing really well, but yesterday I felt horrible. I had body aches and felt like I was coming down with something. Has anyone else felt like this? I am wondering if it was gas or maybe constipation.
-
Day 4 post-op. This is the first day I have felt decent. Hardly any pain and hardly any gas. I am still on full-liquids until my post -op on Tuesday. Hope everyone who had their surgery on Monday are doing well. Yea! We made it!
-
My doctor said that right after surgery he expects his patients to gain about 5-6 pounds. It's our bodies trying to heal itself. I gained 6 pounds, but it is coming off. Doctor said he doesn't worry about weight until after week post-op appointment.
-
Hope all of you post-ops are doing well. I am very sore, but doing pretty good. I got banded on Monday and slept in a chair. Last night I slept in my bed. Still on clear liquids until tomorrow. Cream of Wheat sounds mighty good right about now.
-
I am on clears until Thursday and then full liquids until Tuesday and my next follow-up. I am glad you are doing well.
-
Well, had my surgery yesterday at 1 pm. When my surgeon got in she found a "huge" hiatal hernia that needed to be repaired. I never even had symptoms. My surgeon said she had never seen one so big. I have had no real pain. My surgeon places a pain ball into the wound which drips a continuous local to the incisions. They took it out today because it was leaking, but no real pain. I am lucky I have had no nausea or too much gas. I will be on clears until Thursday and then I can have full liquids. I see my surgeon next Tuesday and then I will probably get to advance my diet again. Not that I am really hungry. Good luck to all who are getting ready to have it done.

We could never leave you out! Good Luck! I think you are in between the two of us.

I agree. NO GAS! NO GAS! Good luck to you too. Are you nervous? I am getting a little nervous. But, I am more excited about my new life.
