Surgery Scheduled for July, Anyone else?

    I'm scheduled 07/03/17. .!!!
  2. Curious to know how long it took from submission to approval for some of you? Seems like 10-12 days is standard..

Same thing happened to me.. I left her a message and Carmen Rightmiyer called me.. shes a pleasant women..totally.. she apologized for not calling as I wasn't on the schedule for some reason and it was good. I try to be mindful of how many bariatric cases they are working on.. it has to be a ignorant amount. ya know. So its good to just follow up and be proactive as hell. They appreciate it also. <3 That is typical, I had to call into Molina and ask who my case worker was and ask them to have her call me. She never did call, so I called back and they gave me a new case worker and that person has only called me once. She scheduled to call me again this month, but missed the date. I will call and leave her another message to call me. It seems as if the case workers workload is so big, that they're overwhelmed and they are extremely hard to reach. I would suggest calling Molina and getting that sorted out. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App Thank you. I will definitely do that. I know they are extremely hard to get a hold of. I can & I will I also spoke to Jennifer White and she scheduled me with someone, but they never called.

I spoke to Jennifer White.. she set up an appt. for me to talk to someone about entering a follow up type deal. Maybe that's a start for you when you call member services. Oh boy.. I just read. lol Hopefully my experience is positive. I've learned a lot about myself these past 2-3 mos. for sure.. I have no shame in admitting that I initially went into this journey sooooo misinformed. I have a new respect for the procedure as well as post-ops. So I'm definitely taking all my education in...failure isn't a option! Its time for greatness!! Just gonna stay busy and prepare.. that's all we can do! Our season is coming.. HI!! I'm also boogie_badd8nt_she on here. lol I started my journey in August!! I'm fast tracking.. doing 3 appts a week.. so exhausting!!!! I will be done with almost all requirements the end of this month.( Accept the UW requirements) I was asked by my bariatric case manager ( w/ Molina) to save a few NUT appt.until I'm closer surgery to serve as a little "insurance" in case I stall while fulfilling UWs list of things to do..This Thursday I will be meeting Kim Herzog.. lol What happens during the meeting with her? Any testing? I'm hoping to be nice and ready for surgery soon.. its crazy to know they are booked out so far!!! Good Luck ladies! Looks like we will all be getting worked on around the same time!!! <3Hey girl! Congrats on your journey, we're all on our way to a healthier life! So exciting! The appointments do get tiring! If you went back a bit further in this thread you'll be able to read about some experiences with Kim Herzog. She isn't nice lol. I had to stay calm cool and collected with her, knowing that she decides whether or not I will move on to the next step. She will basically ask you a ton of questions. Health history, current diet and exercise routines, why you want the surgery, which procedure you'd like to go with and why. She will ask you why your at the weight you're at. Just be prepared to be judged lol. It wasn't fun. I do hope that your visit goes better than mine did. I also have Molina, I will be finished with all of my insurance requirements at the end of this month. So I'm hoping for a date in the beginning of the year. They did tell me that they're booked out quite far. I've learned more than I thought I would these last few months. Im kind of glad that they don't just let you jump into things. Being prepared and educated is going to set us up for success!! Good luck with everything. -Melissa in Vancouver Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

    Gastroparesis ...anyone else?

Ohhh yes,...I've have alot of patients with Gastroparesis..very few with a hx of abdominal surgery... you have a vagus nerve involved in your digestive tract. Very important nerve. But the majority of them have the disorder because of some kind of co-morbidity... Especially high blood pressure or diabetes...There's a lady who had it with Crohn's. idk I have one patient I remember...she was very young, 23yrs old., who was a frequent flier and had this disorder since she was born. The doctor ended up sending her to a specialist in Memphis, TN( I live in Arkansas) to get her a stomach pacemaker to stimulate the stomach. Before then, like many others she was on medication for nausea but they didn't help much.... she stayed in the hospital for days at a time on IV trying to get all her nutrition in her body. That disorder sucks! Anyway I said all that to say it's quite possible it could have stemmed from your surgery.....very possible. If you hit the right nerve you will most definitely paralyze your stomach muscles. I've seen it in the hospital I work at. Just not common though... If possible look into seeing if you would benefit from a stomach pacemaker. There aren't many who perform this surgery.. but the patients that I've had that made the decision go forward with it have significant improvement. Praying for you hunn and wishing you the best of luck.

    People and their opinions.....

Yeah,I really didn't want my class to know about it, It just so happens I was offering an ear to the "Lap Band" girl.. people are a mess anyways. They talk about you whether you're doing good or bad. Some people hate so much that you have means to change something about yourself.Instead of being happy for you or offering a prayer they'll say things they know nothing about. The people who are uninformed usually have the most strongest opinions or speak the loudest... So I ignore them.
  14. Today in class I was speaking with a classmate whom had the Lap Band surgery a year ago. As we were going back in forth in conversation talking about weight gain, bariatric surgery and other stuff...meanwhile some others were listening in on our convo.(Noseyasses). One particular person asked us what the criteria was in order to be considered for surgery.. we told her and she was like "oh, okay cool..." So this person asked me what surgery was I looking into,I said,"RNY"... the whole dag'gone class turned their heads at me and stared.. as if I said that Jesus wasn't real or something else!!!! People frown on RNY..they say stuff like, "Wow, thats too drastic", " I'm not doing all that", or "I'll just walk and exercise to get my weight off". Anyways... everybody started giving there opinions about it... how people get sick or die or vomit or get infections or lose their hair or whatever else they could think of...smdh. Not to mention the classmate who had the Lap Band surgery started going on and on about how Lap Band is reversible or whatever..and the reason she chose it. She said it in such a tone though, like her decision was the better one. Beware people! Choosing baratric surgery is like choosing a gang.. if you don't choose their gang they will argue you down and try to make their decision or choice seem as if it's the rational one... and believe me they are passionate about their beliefs. So be strong. lol

Went To Doc Today Bmi Is Borderline :/

I agree! It doesnt work for everyone! They know that...smh Having that said, according to the BMI Charts obesity begins at 31-32. So, why not review those who are 31- 34 as a case by case basis. 35-39 (having a co-morb qualifies you according to your plan), 40> (obviously need help...and qualifies you according to your plan?) I mean they made up the rules.. they say we are all fat at 31- 32! lol
