Whew these posts make me feel better. I've been banded over a year but want to lose more before we start trying. I can't wait until that day! Thanks everyone.

How Fast Is The Weightloss?
jups2709 replied to mzyunique1's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Each person and their weight loss is completely different. I lost weight after being banded with it completely empty. 6 weeks after my second fill I was down about 50 lbs and a year later I'm down over 100lbs. Some people lose faster than others and some people don't start loosing for a few months. Hope this is helpful!! -
Thanks ladies!!! I'll look into both of those options.

Good luck tomorrow!! We're all rooting for you.

I've started training to run but it hurts my knees so bad! I want to get an elliptical and I'd like to get a weight machine for the home too. There isn't a good gym close by and I don't want an excuse anymore. Any suggestions on home gyms or ellipticals?

Wow thanks so much for all of the info! PBs are productive burps where you burp and something else comes with it! Not fun . I'm still only able to do liquids but I'm gonna give it a couple more days before I go back to the doc. I might be too tight.

Good luck with your surgery and congrats on your weight loss so far!! My biggest fear before surgery was that I was going to be hungry but I didn't need to worry. You'll be amazed how little can make you full.

Had a fill almost a week ago and I'm still only getting liquids down. I feel like I constantly have a lump in my throat. I can eat one or two bits of something liquid or soft before I fill stuffed but not an hour later and I feel starved. Getting some slime and PBs but no vomiting. Anyone have any insight?

Lapband Or Gastric Bypass?
jups2709 replied to chilet071's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I agree with Mis73 but would like to add that my mom is a nurse and she also convinced me that the band was a safer option. Also, I've seen several people "beat" bypass by overeating and thus gaining all of their weight back. That can happen with the band but since it's adjustable you can get yourself back on track. -
Along with my weight, I've struggled with depression. I've had to come up with new ways of thinking and talking to myself. I started to think like this. It took me 25 years to put this weight on, it won't come off overnight. In a world where we expect instant gratification it can be really hard to wait for what we want. 3-5 months must seem like an eternity but think about it like this, in less than 6 months, you'll be on track again. You've lost 88 lbs so far and that is wonderful!! You've lost a 4th grader! You only have a 5th grader left to lose! Everything will be okay. We all have set backs but these kinds of experiences make us stronger!! You can do it and we are here to help you make it through.

One thing no one told me about before the surgery was how much getting into and out of bed hurts post-op. While I was in the hospital I had the elevated bed with the side rails for help so I didn't really notice it until I got home. I never realized how much we use our abs to help us move around!! Just be prepared to move a little slower that first week. I had to swing my legs off of the bed first and then use my headboard to pull myself up to get out of bed. That is one piece of advice I wished someone would have given me!! Good luck!!
