I was stuck and now I gained 3 lbs... IM FREAKING OUT
cms213 replied to Ana87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's the 3 week stall. I feel your pain I'm in it right now! -
Someone in my support group had problems with that and the blood test showed she wasn't getting the right amount of vitamins. She was a bypass patient though so not sure if its the same for the sleeve.
-
I see it at almost every grocery store anywhere from Safeway, trader joes to target. I haven't tried it yet though.
-
Haha thanks for reminding me why I haven't tried adding them back into my diet yet. How are things like hard boiled eggs? I've read sometimes people can do all the egg types except scrambled for a couple months.

I grew up and spend most my time in Seattle but I currently live in Tacoma. It is beautiful especially in the summer but we are kind of whimps when it gets warm (80+).
-
I have to agree with a few people. If you split it into 4 servings its perfectly reasonable. You would get about 21 grams of protein and 137 calories and not have to take out anything. If it works for you don't change a thing but I'm not dietitian.

Keeping between 500-1000 calories
cms213 replied to djnkidz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really can't wait to meet with my nutritionist. I was also sleeved on 5/28 and just recently started getting in 400 calories. Last night I went to 500 (because of the darn munches!) I didn't feel guilty but I have no idea what my calorie intake should be right now. I just know the protein and water numbers. -
I was going to say I haven't seen the cold posts since probably early spring. I think we'll feel cold during the fall but not in the summer. I guess it all depends where you live. I live in WA where it's mild temperatures and it has felt pretty warm lately.

Lovenox shot questions....
cms213 replied to megansmommy123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr's office requires all bariatric patients to do the shots for 28 days thankfully I'm almost done. They aren't too bad but I do have the bruise left from the hepernin (sp?) shots they gave me in the hospital. At first I used a ice pack to numb the area before giving myself the shot now I just do it without. I'll take a couple bruises that don't hurt over a blood clot any day. -

I was going to post about that today as well. All the special interest forums are password protected. -
I never heard anything like that but of course every dr is different. I used a heating pad on my back because of the gas and everything was fine. I did not use it on my stomach though I just wanted air to get to the incisions so I rarely covered them early on.

Honestly, who has had zero problems
cms213 replied to sparker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends what you consider a problem. Waking up from surgery and the first few days were tough but of course manageable. The pre op and post op diet were hard but no one said it'd be easy. Only took one dose of pain killers in the hospital. This isn't an easy task but it also isn't the worst thing in the world. I would say things do get easier every day. I'm not sure why there are so many regret threads lately but it wasn't the norm a couple months ago when I would read this board. -
Feel like a failure :(
cms213 replied to JessicaAnn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To make you feel better on my pre-op diet I had a very low calorie diet and ate Burger King once so it could have been much worst. However I don't regret it I lost a lot of weight on the pre-op diet and in a couple weeks you won't feel hungry anymore but there will still be challenges. I eat peanut butter every now and then post op so at least you cheated on something you can eat within a couple weeks post op! -
Out of curiosity I've been looking at how many calories all my favorite fast food meals were. No wonder I have a weight problem my favorite Burger King meal that I've been eating since a young teen is 1,370 calories! At Taco Bell all my favorite foods are 500+ calories per item and I would have ordered 2-3 items per meal. I'm just shocked. :-O I'm almost positive I use to consume about 3,000 calories per day or more just looking at the calories of things I'd eat from day to day. Now I'm lucky if I hit 400 calories per day (3 weeks post op).

The laxative I was prescribed when I left the hospital is called Senna it taste horrible but thankfully I drink it like a shot and chase it with water. It works really well maybe check with your clinic and see if they can give you a prescription. The amount you take is 10mm so it's very little.
-
Are you drinking enough water? I go once or twice every other day. I also take a prescribed laxative senna every other day just to ensure I stay regular. As far as food I can eat pretty much anything but I get full so fast! Last night I was eating something and I really wanted to finish it but I knew my body was done so I threw it out and yeah I had to sit and digest for about 30mins after that. I don't really like the digestion feeling it doesn't hurt it just feels awkward. I was sleeved May 28th.

Trader Joes also sells power crunch. Vitamin Shoppe sells the chocolate bar though and I have found those hard to find. At what point do people eat protein bars?

NSV: Stopped biting my nails!
cms213 replied to devichan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Same! I just got home from getting a manicure. Woohoo congrats on kicking the bad habit. -
I just had my follow up yesterday with my Dr and he said I have no restrictions anymore and can work out and even swim. I was surprised and also sleeved on 5/28. Hopefully your Dr says something similar to you on Monday!
-
I burp a lot now! I do think burping is my signal that I'm full but the entire time I'm digesting I burp. Should make for an interesting habit when I return to work.
-
Buplee is right once you are on soft foods most things won't look appealing and you won't feel deprived anymore. After surgery I wanted so many different things and all food looked so good but I wasn't hungry and now that I'm on soft foods I'm still not hungry and nothing looks overly that great.

Please Tell Me This is Normal
cms213 replied to Iniysa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a red rash similar to that on all my incisions and the doctor said its just skin irritation from the adhesive tape they used. -
Pancakes for breakfast on my pre-op diet!

Dull shoulder pain - please reassure me!
cms213 replied to Flup's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had this for a couple days when I was about 7-9 days out. It came off and on but it seems to have gone away. I put a heating pad on it to relieve some of the pressure/pain.
