I had a similar thing with my close guy friend. He never called or texted after surgery. I was hurt by it because we talked daily and he rarely would ask how I'm doing. I had to make the choice to drop him as a friend or keep him. I kept him but him not being there after surgery is still there.

3 months post op as of next week. I workout 5 days a week and slowly adding more to my work outs. Monday- aqua fit and then 30 mins of continuous lap swimming routing between freestyle, breast stroke and back stroke (1.5hrs) Tuesday - either lap swimming for 1hr or spinning/elliptical/row machine for 45 mins total Wednesday - aqua fit and then 30 mins of continuous lap swimming routing between freestyle, breast stroke and back stroke (1.5hrs) Thursday - free day unless I wasn't able to work out for one of the days Friday - always a free day but try to step up my walking Saturday - aqua fit and then 30 mins of continuous lap swimming routing between freestyle, breast stroke and back stroke (1.5hrs) Sunday- either lap swimming for 1hr or spinning/elipitcal/row machine for 45 mins total I will add in strength training to my spinning/elliptical days. Also I'd like to up my times to 2 hours but we'll see I've come a long way at four weeks I worked out 3 times a week for 30 mins so I'm happy with the progress

a question to anyone help...
cms213 replied to rossy222@yahoo.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on a 1,000 calorie diet for three weeks so obviously I had food the day before surgery. They told me nothing other then water from midnight on. The nurses told me they can tell when someone eats a lot of food the day before. As everyone said let your dr know. -
Thanks! I love getting free things especially protein related things!

The B12 shot has helped the most with energy. I can tell when I'm due for my next because my energy levels completely drop. I also drink coffee my drs office okayed it after a couple days post op.

It's suprising Seattle is on the list since 9-10 months out of the year is raining so I avoided getting wet and doing things like parking close to a building of driving places in stead of walking. Of course the summer if a different story. But if you think about if Seattle for the most part is every green and health conscious but I'd say I only noticed that within the last ten years. Seattle didn't fail me in terms of my weight issues I failed it. Like I remember my high school and middle school were within walking distant so I didn't have a bus but I almost always found rides instead of walking the 1-2miles home. I'm surprised Manhattan NY isn't on the list that was non stop walking there!

Post op preparation....
cms213 replied to muneca1029's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is a thread that has a checklist I looked at that prior to surgery. I bought a lot and only used a little... My main things were a heating pad (for the random gas pains) I had RTD Protein drinks, you may want things like crystal light or power aide zero or G2 around because I remember I thought Water was disgusting. I had apple sauce to put my morning anti acid pill in. Lots of movies to watch or if you have Netflix. Oh you may want to put out sweats and big T-shirts because you won't want to bend over. As I've said before the first few days suck but it gets easier and easier as time goes on. I remember wondering if the soreness would ever go away and today I'm 9 weeks out and as happy as can be. good luck! -
I do have to say what I like about vitamin shoppe is they let me shop but if I have questions they are there, GNC employees won't leave me alone.
-
The GNCs by me all have young fit guys. When I first went looking for stuff when I was pre op they had no idea what WLS people should have and the stuff they suggested wasn't WLS friendly so I did my own research. I absolutely love vitamin shoppe!! They have so much stuff and as I'm slowly transitioning to be an athlete they still have stuff I need. But shop at vitamin shoppe online first the prices are lower so I check and then go into the store and they will match their on line prices.
-
I was originally told 6 weeks but at my two week follow up he cleared me for exercise and swimming. I was shocked!
-
I agree! I bought one a two weeks ago and had to go back to the store to buy two more! I have only tried the cookie dough one tho. I only eat a Protein bar maybe once a week. I eat half of one and look at it as a snack when I want junk.

Reward at Goal..need ideas!
cms213 replied to djbwilson's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Spa or clothes or both! If you are at goal you could really splurge and buy some nice piece of clothing that won't get too big in a month or so. -
I'm 9 weeks and tried a little bit. My stomach didn't even notice but my head was thinking this doesn't taste very good and there is like no nutrients in this and I started to want protein instead.
-
I was told the hair loss is from the shock your body took to have surgery. It has to do with the chemicals in your body it switched to say its time to shed. That's why it isn't permanent lost. But yeah I think to help new hair growth is to take your vitamins and up your protein.
-
That's amazing! Congratulations on your progress!
-
I meant to say "Thanks" not "that's" in the previous post. Ok I keep reading you guys saying BCAA and of course I have no idea what that is. I guess I should google it! I'm planning on stopping by vitamin shoppe tomorrow just to browse their selection.

What and When to Eat Before and After Swimming
cms213 replied to Poolguard's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Thanks for posting this and also on the other thread as well. I started drinking a little bit of water down prowler aid after my workouts to restore of what was sweated out. Maybe I should switch it to before and find a protein powder for after? -
That's Mark and Fiddie. I'm not power lifting but I do feel like I'm about to pass out when working out because I'm giving it my all with intervals. Maybe ill hold off on pre and post work out supplements. I'm just wondering with such low calories and working out what I consider to be hard for myself if I needed anything to replenish what I've lost.

What and When to Eat Before and After Swimming
cms213 replied to Poolguard's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I'm not an expert and I'm newly post op (7/8 weeks) I try to have a small serving of protein and carbs before any workout especially swimming. I use to be on a swim team for most my life and I remember always eating fruit and protein before the meets. I'm so thankful that swimming doesn't make me hungry any more, pre-op I felt like I ate like a cow after swimming. I'm trying to do research right now on what I should consume pre and post workout since we eat such little in calories and in the gym I give it my all.
