Was Considering Lapband, But Dr Suggested This.
cms213 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, When I started looking into WLS I had always focused on lapband because it seemed the safest and not so drastic compared to the gastric bypass. I've started my rounds to get approved and my dr told me he doesn't recommend lap band anymore because he's taken more out then he's put in, in the last year and recommends the sleeve for me. I'm pretty nervious to have 75% of my stomach completely gone. Did anything else have similar worries or scenarios? -

I'm very new at this and in the beginning of my lap band journey. Does anyone have any suggestion for skin routines pre or post op to help prevent the excess skin? I want to be fully prepared throughout this process and I'll be 25 years old during the surgery so anything I can do to help my skin out would be good. I kind of look at this as I'm taking the steps to prolong my insides I should take the steps to prolong the outside. Any tips or suggestions will be much appreciated!

Hello! My name is Christina and I'm from WA. I will probably have my lap band surgery in April 2013, part of the wait time is I'm almost positive my insurance will make me go on a six month medical diet of some sort which is fine. Also my main support person (my father) will be out of town from Oct - April and I want him close by for the surgery and recovery phase. A huge reason for why I am doing this is because I turn 25 in December and realized that my life could be a quarter of the way over or HALF the way over! That's huge and I've decided it's only a quarter of the way over. My mother died at the age of 51 and every problem that she had up to her death could have been prevented with the lap band. In fact, a few years before she died she was researching the lap band. It's heart breaking to know she could still be here if she went through with the process to get the band. So in honor of her and myself I'm going down this path.I'm excited for my future and will support everyone else here that's going on the same path/journey. Thanks for listening!

I agree! I'm not married so the dating aspect of all this is a little on the scary side, but long run will be a huge positive. I've heard of lotions and body sugars but who knows. Working out is for sure a positive thing that I hope would help. Keep in touch! I've love to hear how your journey goes!!
