Started soft foods a few days ago. Anyone have this problem when you started?
JuliannaJ replied to JP69's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was told 1/4 cup is it in the beginning of foods but will increase over time as your sleeve heals. It is impossible at this point to get all of your protein in by soft foods with such limited intake so I was told to keep up the shakes or drinks or whatever you are doing to get your protein. -
Hey we are sleeve sisters! Same date! Maybe your coworkers are like mine and just a little slow on the uptake and will do something LATE.
-
Ok I talked to a friend of mine about this whole situation and she works indirectly with my staff. She just so happened to be talking to one of my coworkers today and mentioned casually are you doing anything for Jules because I want to contribute and she said yes, they just didn't know what to do yet but they were going to do a card and something. So I humbly apologize to my coworkers for calling them losers and idiots because now I feel like an a$$. But if they send me a food basket of stuff I am not able to have like chocolate and cookies I will be back on to diss them again! Thanks guys again for all the awesome advice and the laughs and support!

this is what would probably happen!

I am sorry but it did make me feel better to call them losers...not that I go around calling people names but my evil side did enjoy it (call me flawed). As far as how well I know them, there are about 8 of us in the office and I would say we are a pretty close bunch (or so I thought). We go out and play poker at each others houses, out to eat, to concerts/shows etc. now I would not talk to them about my deepest darkest secrets (like calling people losers haha) but they know what is generally going on in my life and I know what is going on with them. Plus I have worked there over 15 years...most came after me but the shortest I have known any one person is probably about 4 years. That to me is a bit more than them not knowing me. As far as the the surgery, we are all in healthcare so they know about the surgery and what was going on with me. It could be worse though, I was talking to my sister and she said the idiots (sorry, evil comes through again) she works with sent a co worker that had this surgery a fruit basket and food assortment even though my sis told them the person was not allowed fruit and Cookies...they still sent it, my sister went on her own and sent a gift card to a bookstore for the person.

Maybe I will just send them a link to this thread....

I love everyone on here! Perfect strangers are willing to do something! This means a lot to me and I thank you for your offer. Just being able to come on here and ask my questions and vent my feelings and get such warm responses means a lot! Thanks, you guys rock! I am thinking right now of hiring fyre_storm though because I am in the MAD phase...lol.

Yeah but I am not skinny yet! Lol

Thanks guys! You really have all helped me! I am not usually the coordinator of the gifts because my boss is the one that holds all of the money. It is funny because I told my family and REAL friends not to do anything (and I meant it) and I am not at all upset that I did not get any cards or flowers from them so why do I care about these "losers"? I never told them not to do anything though. Had I said that to them I would not be offended. As far as the surgery goes, there was a medical reason behind it as well as the weight issue...I had some abnormalities and they knew all about it. They are in the healthcare industry so they do understand the surgery. As far as the emails and such, I work under a grant and if the things don't get done, it risks our grant so I sort of have to answer the emails...just thought they could do more of it without me. But when I am on vacation I get emails and calls too. I thought about no longer contributing to the fund but then that means sometime someone is ill, I would have to do something on my own. I am just afraid when I get back to the office there WILL be tension as I am really hurt and angry. I don't want to hold these feelings in but I am not sure I can just do or say nothing and let it be at that. I want to have a good WORKING relationship with these people at the very least since they are obviously not friends.

When do you stop throwing up?
JuliannaJ replied to vols fan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since you are still in the hospital, hopefully that can give you something for the nausea/vomiting. -
I don't know your schedule or anything but if I were you I would "cook" for myself and if the wife wants some too she can have it. If you are off on the weekend or whatever day, try that day to do some cooking and freeze/ refridgerate. There are plenty of online sites where they have recipes for the whole week. If you do not have time, on the way home from work stop in and get a rotiserie cooked chicken and sides from your local grocery store or buy some of the reheat and serve type meals they sell in the grocery store...of course you have to look at calories and such but there are some healthy quick alternatives at the store as well, even in the freezer/ fridge section. Marriage is give and take so maybe you will need to be the one to plan the meals for awhile. As far as her support she may be having some fear about the procedure or how things will change if you change. Who knows! Good luck to you...

Ketosis breath- funny
JuliannaJ replied to LindsayRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine stinks too! I miss gum, but at least breath mints and brushing my teeth like 5 times a day helps a little. -
Just had my Nutritional Seminar...
JuliannaJ replied to petra1124's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some people say to try using small plates and kids utensils to help out with eating less and slowing down. For me the hardest part is not drinking while eating. -
Make sure you get your protein in as well

Feelings on Eating Fast Food (McDonald's) 7 weeks Post Op
JuliannaJ replied to ljmasterdebater's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know, I was not being serious just putting humor into my own bad thoughts. Sorry I could not answer your question but I did want to know if anyone does have the answer to it since one day I will be 7 weeks post op. -
I had reflux BEFORE the surgery but none since. I have been on zegerid for years to help with the reflux i had and even though I "forgot" to take it a few times post op I have not had issues (yet). Of course I am only on full liquids right now so things may change. When I had my EGD I had a gastric polyp that had to be removed that apparently can be caused by reflux meds! So I may try a different class of meds.

Feelings on Eating Fast Food (McDonald's) 7 weeks Post Op
JuliannaJ replied to ljmasterdebater's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do they still have salads there too? I am not sure if you can have it or not but I had to see if your question was about having a Big Mac at 7 weeks which would be what I want to dream about right now...lol. Of course I know the answer to the Big Mac but one can dream...... -
They still have me wearing the abdominal binder daily which I think has helped me.

this is what I have been drinking , the isopure ( grape, some blue one and orange-banana-pineapple) along with the gnc chocolate whey protein mixed with skim milk. I went online to luckyvitamins and bought 36 bottles if the isopure and paid under $120 for them to be delivered by ups....considering gnc sells them for $5+ a bottle, this was a bargain!

BM questions-kind of embarrassed
JuliannaJ replied to TXBell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
By the way, I only had about 2-3 "liquid" stools a day for several days and then it stopped and firmed up. I thought it might be because of the bowel prep preop I took. But when you say frequent....what does that mean? Because if someone is having like 7 loose stools a day, they are risking dehydration and need to talk to their doc -
BM questions-kind of embarrassed
JuliannaJ replied to TXBell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They have firmed up for me now although I have not had one in 3 days but no pain or discomfort or even the feeling I have to go. Since we are not eating solids yet and you just had GI surgery, your body needs to adjust. As far as the liquids go, mix it up...add a squeeze from an orange or lime into your Water, get some good Soup with broth and strain out the other ingredients, I found it had more taste that just the broth in the box. Also switch between chicken, beef and veggie broth and don't forget about the other clear liquids...for me my treat was apple juice! -
definitely a Mars versus Venus thing. The "oh you look great" can feel like "did I look like crap before?". I have always hated it too when the gossips at work would be like did you see so and so, they are gaining weight / getting fat... Like who cares, I am the same person no matter what weight I am at and although the compliments are nice, for me I feel like what are they going to say if I gain 5 lbs? For some people it is just hard to accept compliments for a 1,000,000 reasons...I could go on...

Omg I am and was TERRIFIED! I want to eat bad foods right now! Instead I will sip Water and occupy my mind with something else. I wonder if I can keep this up forever or one day will I be able to eat a Krispy Kreme donut and decide to eat 6 of them instead? I think because we have all FAILED at diets, i realize that i still have to do the work, this was no easy fix, just an extra tool to help....my fingers are crossed and prayers are being said!
-
I felt hungry too...it does diminish with time. I think mine was head hunger...craving food even though the biological signals were not there. I did advance myself to a teaspoon of cream of wheat a few days early to get rid of feeling hungry but also apple juice was on my approved list and once I had some watered down, it helped some as well. By the way I do not recommended advancing the diet until you see the doc post op but I am not perfect and I was feeling the same way you were.

My doc allowed a few cups of salad and a lean cuisine under 300 cal but I still had issues...not sure why since it was not as self limiting as others but I guess it was just hard for me with everyone from work to home eating all kind of goodies and my old eating habits wanting to come out! I think you will find post op a little easier in the long run.
