Well that went by pretty quick! Two weeks gone...Well in Two Days, 48 Hours I'll be coming over to the Losers Side, I never thought I wanted to be on the Losers Team before now. But seeing is that you need another Teammate, here I come! I Guess I'm a mix between Excited & Nervous right now. But I'm definitely Confident. Mainly because of all of the information and Support from you guy's! And what the hell is this dam Woodpecker been doing outside my Friggin' Condo all Morning? Is this some sort of Sign, a Woodpecker?! All Morning long he's been just tearin' this Tree apart! Thanks For Everything! Rocko~~

Pre-Op Questions @ My Pre-Op Meeting Today!
Rockn4u posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi All, Well I just got home from my Pre-Op meeting with my Surgeon. All went smooth as Silk~~ Being on the opti-fast Diet for 9 days as of today, I dropped.....15.2lbs!!! I went from 341.8 to 326.6 To tell you the truth I really can't see any change. My friend said he can see it in my face. Well the Doctor was thrilled. So I celebrated and had a sugar free Jello Pudding!!! I know what your saying "That Rocko is a Madman!" I did bring some questions with me. Here are the Q's I asked, some may be silly but I just wanted to know. 1) Are you going to use a Catheter? No (thank you God)! 2) How many incisions? 5 3) How many Stitches? They will be placed inside. (4-5) 4) I asked how come they didn't take any Fat out while they where inside, the reason I asked was because I Watched the Surgery on-line (if you want the link let me know) and your able to see a lot of Fat just there. Ans: He said there was no benefit. 5) I asked if he ever had a Mortality while doing the Lab-Band? No, he said he's never had anyone Die while he's done any Surgeries. (I guess that goes in the Plus Column) 6) Will my Band offer any restriction Post Surgery seeing is that I don't get a fill for 4-6 weeks? He said Yes, I asked how? He said, because there will be swelling around where the Band is placed just from Surgery. (irritating the area) 7) Will my taste buds change? He said he's heard that, but it will depend on the individual. . 8) Will I have Heartburn? He said, i shouldn't. (very few people do) 9) What Pain Meds will I get? He said the Good Stuff! (lol) 10) Will you use the Pars Flaccida Technique? Absolutely If you don't know what that is here's a link for you to check it out: http://thinforlife.med.nyu.edu/assets/REN%202.pdf?RCD=J53039 &NAME=Christine_J._Ren Well that's all I had for him really. I feel very comfortable with him. And have no doubt that he is the right Doctor for the job! I hope some of my Questions may have answered any of your's (Pre-Oper's) Best Regards, Rocko~~ -

Thanks Everyone! And yes Keluliana I found that Surgery on Or-live.com 3 More Days and I can start the Rest of My LIFE!!! -
Hello all, First of all a Huge Thanks to Everybody who has been submitting Answers/Suggestions to my previous posts. One thing I for got to mention. I'm a Smoker, a Quitting Smoker. I've been taking this New Medication called "Chantix" for the past two weeks. My Doctor said that he wanted me to Quit 6 weeks prior to Surgery which is 3/27 (10days) But I thought I was going to have longer to Quit. My Paperwork was submitted to my Insurance Co. on 3/05. I was told it would take anywhere from 4-5 weeks to get Approval, fine. But it only took ONE Week for the Approval (which I'm grateful for) But now I'm kinda thinking that if I haven't Quit for the 6 weeks, not even close. It won't even be 6 weeks by my Surgery date from the time he told me to Quit for 6 weeks! I just don't want to fight through this all liquid Optifast Diet for 2 weeks to be told....Ummm Sorry, you needed to quit for 6 weeks! I've been fighting here for 5 days on liquids, and it is a Battle, one I will Win, but if I heard that...Man I don't know what I would do, I mean I got the Pedal To The Metal Now. All your impute will be Appreciated. Thank You All~~ -Rocko-

I'm going in This Tuesday (3/27) to get Banded!!! -
I'm surprised your getting to eat any solid food at all, lucky you! I'm also on the Pre-Op Diet. Except I'm on the all liquid Opti-Fast. Today is my 11th day, Surgery this Tuesday. I went for my Pre-Op meeting with Surgeon yesterday and was down 15lbs. If I where you I'd let my Doc know Immediately! And get some suggestions from Him/Her. The reason for doing the Pre-Diet is going to help your Doc during Surgery, and you! Don't wait give him a call. Good Luck To You, Rocko~~

Pre-Op Questions at my Pre-Op Meeting Today!
Rockn4u replied to Rockn4u's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I met with my Surgeon the very first time 6 weeks ago Today! But I had all my Ducks in a row. I started getting everything together over the past 8 weeks or so. My Ins. Co. (Humana) required I have 6 Consecutive Mos. of Documented Diet & Exercise with my Doc. or Doc's. But I had all of that, so it made it a lot Faster. But the {{{Shocker}}} was how Fast I got approved from my Ins. Co. Paperwork was Submitted 3/5/07 Approvel 3/11/07 I was told it was going to take in the neighborhood of 4-6 weeks, but it didn't. Which I'm thankful for. -
I think I was mis-informed by somebody. During Lap-Band Surgery do they use a Cathadar? :omg: I thought they only used those in Longer Surgeries? Ouch! :faint: -Rocko-

I'm just going to tell them I'm Training to be a Figure Skater, in the Olympics!!! -
I'm on Day Number 9 of my liquid diet. My Dr. Requires 14 Days. I'm on the Optifast Liquid Diet. I'm only allowed sugar free Jello (no puddings) and Sugar Free Popsicles. I know it's hard, believe me. I almost caved in a few times, but I won't let the Fatman Inside me Win anymore, I must Kill him! I've also been riding my exercise Bike and when weighed at the Doc's office yesterday I was down 14lbs!!! That was all I needed to see, nothing will stop me now!!! Good Luck To You, Rocko~`

:cry I'm just one of those people that have to know Exactly what's going on anytime I have any sort of Surgery done. I found this Web-Cast from Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston of the Lap-Band Surgery. I found watching things that will happen to me rather Facinating. But proceed with **Caution** it's not for everybody. Follow the link below, you will need "Real Player" to View it. Let me know what you think? -------> http://www.or-live.com/BrighamandWomens/1372/

Well only "7 Days" and the Band will be on! So far so good. I'm also a Type II Diabetic, and the past week my levels have been on Point, from 80-108 and I cut my Lantus (Insulin) down 80%!!! Do I smell a Needle Free Future?! I went to my PCP to get my Final Clearance this morning, all the Paperwork stuff. They took my Weight, I'm down almost 14lbs!!! I didn't believe it, so I weighed myself on two other scales there, but that's what it said. I really can't see a difference tho. I just have never felt this good about anything I've ever done, I mean done just for me. And I'm actually following through with it. But I have to say this Forum is what's getting me through. I have gained a lot of knowledge from you all, so thank you so much! Your Friend, Rocko~~:welldoneclap:

lost control, pre-op visit tomorrow...
Rockn4u replied to Keluliana's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know all to well. I'm getting Banded 3/27 One Week!!! My Doctor requires the 14 day Optifast liquid diet. 7 days down, 7 more to go. I must say it has been very difficult. I've been fighting off some really bad cravings. But I weighed 341lbs 3/12/07 I weighed myself today and was 328.4lbs. But I will not say I didn't sway a little, very, very little which didn't even involve chewing. When I get really bad Out-of-Control Cravings. I found something that helps it, and calms it. I get a Teaspoon, dip it in some Peanut Butter (just a dip!!!) just the taste of the Peanut Butter settled me down. I'm not saying it was the right choice, I know it wasn't. But It was either I try something simple, or Go out on a Full Blown Bender. This is like Detoxing! I've read on most Forums most Doctors just require 5-7 days of a Liquid Diet. But mine must have his reasons. I know what I did was Cheating, but nothing to what I really wanted to do. I knew going into this it was going to be soooo hard, and I was right. I have 7 Days to go, and I will make it. So if I need that little Teaspoon of Peanut Butter 3 times a day to cope, then so be it. But I'm also Packing down the Water, and Riding my Exercise Bike 20mins everyday. And on Top of the Liquid diet, I stopped SMOKING!!! Welcome To My World. But we are all in this together, and we all understand what each other is going through. We just need to Help each other when at all Possible. I wish I was just able to pick up the phone and call somebody that really understands, than call a friend that can't possible understand never having a Severe Weight Problem! Stay Strong, and fight up until your Surgery date. Don't under estimate your Doctor, they must have to know First hand how hard this is for all of us! My Thoughts and Prayers are with you. Rocko~~ -
I know I'm getting closer and closer everyday. Tomorrow will be my 7th day on the Optifast 14 Day Liquid Diet! Getting Banded 3/27/07 I thought as each day goes by it may get a little easier. But the past two days have been very, very tuff! I haven't gone off course, but this is a Monster Hurdle. Sometimes it's hunger pain, and others I just want to chew and swallow something. I mean I've been eating some s/f Jello and Popsicles, chicken broth, but just a temporary fix. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm not going to cave in, but I'm just looking for some imput? Thanks Rocko~~:help:
