  1. Off topic, sorry, I'm getting desperate. I am an NP student who lives near Nashville, TN. I am currently doing my peds rotation. I need a OB/GYN MD or NP to precept with in the fall for a couple of months. I only need 8 hours a week for a couple of months. Have lost 102 lbs with my sleeve. I was overweight for 30 year and my sleeve is such a blessing!! Thanks if anyone can help. DutchgirlRN@gmail.com

    Plateau No More!

Like everyone I hit a plateau around 4 months where I could only lose about 1 pound every two weeks. I saw the doctor for my 6 months check-up and he said "you're eating too many carbs". I was only taking in about 30-50 a day. Eating healthy foods only. Drinking water but not what I should have been. Maybe 30-40 oz a day. I went back to 64 oz of fluid a day and 20 grams of carbs a day and the weight has been falling off once again! Woot! I'm getting close to my goal. 38 more pounds to go. Doesn't near as overwhelming as 115 lbs was! I love my sleeve!
  3. My surgiversary was Feb 12th. I am down 97lbs. Don't even care about that extra 3 lbs. Wanted 100 lbs by one year but who cares! I look great, I feel great. I can't wait to thank my surgeon once again. Here are my before and after photo's. Congrats to all my co-Febuary sleevers!

    Off my meds!

That is so awesome! My husband also a T2 diabetic had surgery on 1/2/14 and hasn't had any diabetic medications since. Prior to surgery he had to have insulin and his A!C was 12.8. His blood glucose now runs 102-120. He's feeling a little weak. I told him probably because he has been used to running 225-350 for the past 10 years. It's going to take a while to get used to having a normal blood glucose. It kinda like he feels hypoglycemia now. Congratulations to you!

  9. I was sleeved 2/12/13, have lost 96 lbs and have not missed any foods what-so-ever! My husband was sleeved on 1-2-14 and that was his #1 concern. He was afraid he would have food cravings and miss eating. It's only 2 weeks after surgery but he's lost 24 lbs (including pre-op liquid diet) and he has no hunger at all and no cravings at all. The best part is that he is a diabetic and is used to running 250-350 with his blood sugar checks. He has had no diabetic medication since surgery and his blood glucose is running 102-125 consitantly. He basically had the surgery to get rid of his diabetes. He has a total of 70 lbs to lose. He was a hard core eater and sweet eater. I am very proud of him!
  10. I have not regreted my surgery for 1 second! Here's me this morning trying on my PJ pants from last year. I'm down 96 lbs.

  15. It's been almost a year now. I had surgery on 2-12-13. I've lost 91 lbs! I feel so much better. Haven't had the first issue, didn't lose any hair, have not been hungry, have not regretted surgery for a second. My husband is being sleeved on 1-2-14. I'm excited for him. I'm learning to enjoy buying clothes once again. People at work call me skinny sometimes. Had one person who didn't know me ask me how I stay to slim and trim. Love it!!
  16. NOTHING, tastes as good as healthy feels!!!
  17. I have not once regretted being sleeved. I was overweight for over 20 years and at age 57 I knew it would soon start affecting my health. I was sleeved 2/12/13. The best gift I ever gave myself. I can go places now and I am no longer the biggest person in the room. I can climb stairs and still breath. I can play with my grandchildren. A whole new world is re-opened to me. My husband is now going through the process. I pray he gets accepted. He has only 60 lbs to lose but has 4 co-morbidity's including diabetes. He wanted to make sure I was not going to be sorry before he proceeded. Now he wishes he had done it at the same time as me. I love my sleeve!!!
  18. I had my 6 mo post-op visit yesterday. I've lost 64 lbs. The doctor said I should have lost more and asked me about my diet. I eat eggs, cheese, microwave lite popcorn, fresh fruit, yogurt, Peanut Butter on apple. I think I'm eating well. That's the whole idea. He said I am eating "way" too many carbs and wants me to cut down to 15 carbs per day. I can do that but when I eat primarily Protein I cannot go number 2 and get so backed up that I'm miserable and end up having to take a load of laxatives once a week to get it all out. That can't be healthy? I hope that's not TMI. LOL. So how many carbs are you eating a day and are you still losing. At 6 months out I'm losing about 1-2 lbs every 2-3 weeks. Thanks

    Not sure about progress

This morning 202 !! Can't hardly stand the excitement of seeing 199 lbs for the first time in 20+ years!! I love my sleeve.
  20. Perfectly normal. It's been one day after major surgery! Be easy, be gentle on yourself. As far as the pouch noises, it drove me crazy. It's called "grouch pouch" but it's normal too. It takes a few months to go away.

    Not sure about progress

Was getting ready this morning to check in for the same reason I was sleeved 2/12, started at 261 lbs, and had been stuck at 205 for 3 weeks. This morning wallah! 203 lbs!!! I think we're going to start hitting plateau's more often now that we're approaching 5 months out from surgery. I work with several who had surgery in Jan and they started having the same experience around 5 months. Others were sleeved a year or so ago and they all assure me the weight will continue to come off just slower than were used to. I too have not seen below 200 lbs in over 20+ years and cannot wait to see that 199. Cheers!!!!!
  22. One thing that irritates me is that people who do not know that I've had surgery do not notice that I've lost weight. I don't get it. Those who know, encourage me, and notice when I wear something new that is much smaller. At work they say Johanna is just melting away. I see a neighbor or person at a store that I've known for a long time and they don't notice??? I've gone from a size 24 to a size 16 so it's not like there's not a major difference. It doesn't bother me per se, I did this for me and for my health and have to keep pinching myself to realize this is for real but I just don't understand how someone could not notice??? Anyone else experiencing the same experience with people who don't know you've had surgery???
  23. If I see someone has lost weight I'm the first to notice and say "hey, great job" but I think you're right that too many people are just in their own world of thoughts. I don't hear you look nice today except from people who know which still thrills me every time!! I was thrilled yesterday to get whistled at for the first time in over 20 years!

    Avocado and egg

Sounds interesting, I've been loving those avocado's since surgery. Eggs on the other hand have really turned my stomach on occasion to the point I'm now avoiding them. Perhaps in an avocado would solve the problem. Thanks~
