What! If I would have known that I would have done this a long time ago! LoL
-
You didn't have to do 6 months visits with the Surgeon? Also - did you pay anything out of pocket for it?

Hello fellow brave ones!

Welcome!! What insurance are you through? -
Oh?? Did you get the surgery while on Tricare Reserve? Thanks for the reply and well wishes :]

UPDATE: I called prior to the seminar and had my appointment with the surgeon EARLY So I attended the seminar on Thurs and had my first consult with the surgeon today. I was approved for the visits with the surgeon, 6 visits, and the ball is rolling! I do have to do the 6 months of consults, which is unfortunate, however, that should be done by August, giving a good month and a half to get the surgery. Everything seems to be going great thus far! Thank the Lord!

I don't know about buying Tri-care after he's done. I haven't started the 6 months of check ins because they said you have to go to the seminar first, and you have to see your SURGEON for the check ups, not just your PCP. People who were seeing their PCP or a nutritionist had to start their 6 months over completely when this went in to effect. It wouldn't be an issue if he was always active duty, but he's Air Guard, so things are difficult in all of this. As of now I'm praying his orders will get extended, or I'll be able to have something come in my favor before October.

Can i get the lap band after having gastric bypass
TheDuchess replied to julie7374's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would start asking the doctors to look in to other options of what might be wrong - Thyroid - Hormones - Cortisol levels - etc. After much testing from my doctor we found that my body survives on a much lower calorie rate than normal bodies (1200 is usually a diet calorie, for my body type it maintains, I have to eat 800 calories or less to lose any weight.) If anything it will at least better inform you and give you light on where you want to go from there. -
I'm in Washington State - thanks for the info! I'm worried my time will be cut short as I have to wait until next month to attend the seminar and then I start to see the surgeon for my check ups. Our insurance will likely end in October when my husband's orders end. That's only 6 months as is :/ Is there ANYTHING I can do to speed up the process?

The 6 month mandatory about seeing surgeon was passed this last Februrary. United does lapbands, from what I've already seen. I'm just wondering if there will be any hiccups, and if there are if they'll be in my favor! lol (like nixing the 6 month visits with the surgeon). The seminiar is on April 4th, although I've been to one before they've said since it was 3 years ago I have to go again. I can't set up an appointment with the Surgeon until then - so no, I haven't already seen him and this won't count as month one.

Wow April!!

I go in to talk to my doctor tomorrow!
TheDuchess replied to TheDuchess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They are submitting the referal for me again, and I'm asking for the same Surgeon I had back in 2009 when it was approved, praying that the process comes to a completition this time without the insurance lapsing! -
I go in to talk to my doctor tomorrow!

I had been approved for the surgery in 2009, however, there was a misunderstanding in the time I'd be on that insurance, and it had ended 3 months sooner than we were prepared for. I'm hoping they won't want me to go 6 months of documenting since I was approved a few years ago. Any advice? Prayers appreciated!!!!! -

Going to talk to the doctor about the band...

Thank you thank you <3 if it is not approved then I'll have to take it as a sign that God has something else in store for me. It'll hurt and I'll probably have my fair share of tears, but I'll get it figured out :] -
Going to talk to the doctor about the band...
TheDuchess posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Back in 2009 I was on board with getting banded, and didn't have much further to go. Two things came up, we were misinformed on our insurance (Tri-care) and it's timing, as we had been told that we'd still have 3 months after he returned home of being on the insurance, my husband is in the Guard. The second had been that my doctor was concerned that my issue with weight loss may have something to do with my hormones. We were able to show it wasn't my hormones, and that my body survives on a low calorie count (1200-1500 calories a day maintains my weight) and having come to this conclusion it seems like the lapband is a good investment for the long run of my life, considering we haven't even begun to have children yet, and I can't imagine how difficult it'll be to get the weight back off without some sort of tool to help. In 2009 I didn't end up getting the surgery, it seemed realatively easy at the time to get it. I'm nervous now, nearly 4 years later, to go back and talk to a NEW doctor about this. Any advice? Is it more complicated now to get approved? Did anyone else go back some time later and decide to get it after deciding NOT to get it? -
To Baby or NOT to Baby
TheDuchess replied to sweetsam2005's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Outsiders perspective as I've not been banded yet - Enjoy the married life! Enjoy the weight loss life! Having different steps and things to look forward to is great - and you may be happy you waited. We wanted kids about 4 years ago, all of my friends were having babies and we had been married for around 2ish years at that point. We're young, and every morning I sleep in I'm thankful, or when we spontaneously are invited to go out and do something with our non-kiddos friends, or go to the movies every Friday, or plan a kid-free, babysitter-free vacation - I rejoice in our decision to wait. I've enjoyed the years we've had to bond in our marriage, I suggest you do too - the baby fever will go away (and come back!) -
Still doing these? Hopefully you've printed them out and kept them somewhere! I wanted to ask - when are you doing your jumping jacks? I find it easiest to get them out during the A.M. when I have some down time at work.
-
I made a jumping jacks challenge for January - I loved doing them last March (on Tumblr), but I had to start off at a much smaller number than it had wanted since I'm heavier than most people wanting to get "fit", (it started off at 50 and went to 200 jumping jacks by the 31st) I wanted to make one for people like me who may want to do it also. Share if you’d like, keep, or print

I'm in Washington - So I think that makes me West? Last time they said they usually have supervised diet but I was able to provide them with all the different diets I had done, and because my insurance wasn't for very long they were willing to rush it - I'm hoping that's the same this time :/ It'd be really heartbreaking if they made me wait another 6 months when I was already approved before. -
Checking in! Haven't been breaking them up, but I did have to skip yesterday due to some major back issues - saw the chiropractor and am back on track! Winded like crazy but doing them straight in a row!
-
The only crazy goal I can think of is doing a zipline and not being afraid of it snapping because of my weight! lol
-
Did mine too! I had hurt my back but it only hurts to bend over, so I was able to do them - and after sitting all day long (from the back injury) I was eager to pump them out since I had some energy to expel! Was winded also, but felt great!!

Happy New Year!!!!!

Oh awesome guys!! :] I'll check in on this topic weekly then, just to see how everyone is doing. I usually have to do sets of 10/15 - at 260 jumping jacks are pretty simple and energizing, but my knees can't always take too many in a row. Glad some others are going to get use out of it
