Thanks Zannie for the info on the DaVinci syrups!!! I've just discovered them and didn't know exactly what to put them besides shakes. Thanks for the different suggestions on the protein drinks. I tend to be a boring person when it comes to that, not experimenting to see what goes with what. I love the taste of cinnamon. Does the syrup really taste like cinnamon? I had heard some others say it didn't taste that great, but I guess everyone has their own tastes, huh? I think I'm going to try it anyway. Again, thanks for the tips. Jackie

Hi Lisa, Thanks for the support. I really need it right now. I dreamed this morning about my surgery, or I should say the time just before my surgery. All kinds of things were going wrong. I hope that's not a sign of what's to come. I wasn't too nervous till I had that stupid dream. I've just got to stay positive. It's probably a result of those wonderful liquids we've been on..... My husband and I weighed ourselves yesterday morning and he's lost 27 pounds and I've lost 26.8 pounds. Do they weigh you at the hospital before surgery? A lot of people on here have said they don't, so I just wondered. We're going to weigh ourselves at home before we go to the hospital just in case they don't. Today we're going to go get last minute things that we need. We're also picking up some movies and I have a good book to read so I guess we're as ready as ready can be. Thanks for the tips on the Ambien and Gas-X. We have the Gas-X, but I'll check on the Ambien. That's by prescription isn't it? I have been having a little ice cream at night, but not for the last 2 nights. I'm trying to find some Soups that are good to eat. Someone on here suggested these "Imagine" brand soups, and they're really yucky!!! At least the two we've had so far. I hope the other three I bought are better than the others.:biggrin1: We can call my mom if we need anything and I ran into my cousin (who is a nurse) last week and she also said if we need anything, just call her. So I think we're good on that also. Now, if my dogs just cooperate :dog: We should be home sometime in the afternoon on Tuesday so I'll try to type a short note when we get home. See you on the other side in BandLand!!!! Jackie:)

To everyone who has been banded-glad you're all doing okay!!!! All the info from all of you is wonderful, keep it coming!!! I can't believe how this board has grown-AWESOME!!! lo2us-Congrats on the band and hardly no pain-hope mine goes as well. LauraG-I'm with you. I hope to be driving within a week. I just went for an interview yesterday and they hired me on the spot! Woohoo!!!! I'm in nursing school and got hired at an assisted living/nursing home facility. I'm so excited, new job, new life-what more could a girl ask for? Season-What time is your surgery? We're on the same day. Mine is at 1:30. Hi Laura55-With so much activity it's easy to get lost sometimes. Good luck on having your date. Mine is the 11th, I guess I can say Monday now. I can't believe how fast the past 3-4 weeks have gone. o2bthin-I know your mom would be so proud of you and want you to do this for yourself and your health. We're here for you, girl!! Toni-I'm very worried about not drinking while eating. I've ALWAYS been a "take a bite, take a drink" person. My dietician did suggest after meals to eat a serving of fruit that is juicy, such as pineapple or mandarin oranges, but just the fruit, not the liquid. I did try that a couple of times and I didn't want anything to drink for a few hours. Any suggestions from anyone else? I was on preop diet for 2 weeks and lost 15.8 pounds, went to my preop appt with the nursse 4 days later and lost another 7.2 pounds. I'm now on the third day of full liquids and I weighed myself and I lost another 2 pounds!!!! My mom made the comment that why can't I do this on my own since I've lost this much weight already? I said because I wouldn't last forever on this diet. I'd want to cheat. I can only be good for so long, so I need this crutch to help me stay on track. Does anyone else feel this way? :guess Hi Kland!! Good Luck!!! Good Luck to all the banders going tomorrow!!! :clap2::clap2: Jackie

Hey girl, How ya doing? Good I hope. I had a GREAT Memorial day weekend. We went down to my son and daughter-in-laws for my granddaughter's first birthday. It was awesome. I love it when I get to spend any time with my little princess jelly bean (my nickname for her). Hope your weekend was good. Type to ya later, Jackie:D

Thanks KaraB, same to you. Have you already been banded or yet to be banded? Hi Janelle, have you been banded yet or to be banded? Hi Sassafras, my surgery is June 11th. All we have left to do is see the nurse for preop appt. Everything else is done. We've been doing the 1200 calorie diet for 2 weeks or so, went to the dietician last Friday and lost almost 16 pounds!!! :clap2::clap2::clap2: Happy, happy!!!! We have to start liquid diet on June 6th. I'll definitely keep my fingers crossed for you.:D

Sorry Lisa, I didn't catch the question before-I live in Weston near Bowling Green. If I'm not happy with D&O I might be willing to travel to Mansfield (probably 1 1/2-2 hours away) to get fills. Thanks for the info.

I take pills in the morning before I eat breakfast so I just assumed I would keep doing it that way. I'm going to my PCP Friday to find out about crushing my pills, etc. I'll ask him then and let you know what he says. I just bought kids chewable vitamins. My surgeon hasn't been very informative so I just went along with the stuff that I got from a list on another thread here.

I'm with you MM, on the bike riding thing. That was one of the first things I said I wanted to do when asked why I wanted the surgery. I know this probably sounds stupid too, but I can't wait to be able to tie my shoes without my face turning 100 different shades of red and huffing and puffing as I do it. I cleaned out my fridge and pantry and cupboards a couple of days ago. Wow, what a feeling of renewal. My kitchen is practically bare now, except for things for post op diets. My husband (who is also having surgery) couldn't believe it when he opened the fridge. Has anyone else done this yet and felt that way? I can't really explain it, but it's a REALLY good feeling, not to see the shelves of the pantry packed with junk food. It's like a new beginning to my new eating life.:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: I love that we are all so psyched and ready to help one another. I love the idea of a shadow buddy. Someone we can talk to also if we hit a rut and need a sympathetic ear....or kick in the butt. Congrats to everyone who has their date and good luck to those who are about to get theirs. We're all in this together

I'm glad all went well, but sorry to hear about the gas pain. That's what I'm worried most about. I've heard that from so many people on here. Today I had to take my husband Rick, to St. Lukes to have an endoscopy (where they stick a camera down your throat). Dr. Duckett came in before the procedure and said they saw something "weird" on the upper GI and wanted to take a closere look, it looked like a small pouch or something and the doctors said he might not be able to have the surgery...my heart sunk.:omg: When they took him into surgery for this, I just said a big prayer for everything to be alright. When Duckett came out after the procedure he said Rick was good to go, that it is just a slight hiatal hernia:clap2: :clap2: . I've had one of those for awhile and they're going to fix mine when they do the lap band, so they're going to fix Rick's too. Too much drama for me. LOL!! Anyway, I'm glad your doing mostly good.:guess Type to ya later, Jackie
  15. Good luck on your upcoming (very close) surgery. Make sure to keep us posted if you can. We're all here for you.:clap2: :clap2: Jackie

Do you normally like fresh or canned fruit? I was just wondering, I was thinking about ordering some of the dried fruits too, but I'm not too fond of raisins. I know that's probably a stupid statement, but is the consistency of the fruits (like the pineapple and the blueberries) like raisins? Do they taste like the fresh fruits taste? I know these sound like stupid questions, but I'd like some input before I order them. I do like fresh pineapple, peaches, apples, blueberries, etc, but I just wondered if these tasted like that. I hope this makes sense.....duh:faint: Jackie

I'm freaked out about not drinking while eating too. That's gonna be the big one for me.

I had a Diet Coke thing, but I replaced it with those "to go flavored powders" you put in water. The Crystal Light things, but I buy the WalMart ones, they're just as good and a little cheaper. I used to drink 5-8 Diet Cokes per day, now I replace it with those to go things. Hits the spot for me.

I hope the drinking-while-eating thing will be as easy, but we'll see.

I feel for those of you who have to go on the two weeks of liquids pre-op. I have to do 5 days.

Hey, good to hear from you!! Sorry to hear of all your problems, but things will be fine. As my husband says, "Everything happens for a reason". I even believe that cause he's told me that so many times and it's true. We wanted our surgeries 2 weeks apart so we could take care of each other, well.....they scheduled us 2 HOURS apart!!! LOL!!! My husband and I talked about it with my mom and decided to go for it and have it done on the same day. We do everything else together, why not this too? Isn't that crazy? My mom is going to be helping us through this, bless her, she's an angel. She's taking us to the hospital and picking us up and taking us to our first doctors appt. I'm stocking up on food for the first 2 weeks or so...I guess I should say liquids, not food. Hopefully I'll have enough stuff so that we won't have to bug my mom to get anything for us. There was a list on one of the threads here that told of all the things you should get before surgery so you won't have to get it after. I found that very helpful. As I said before, keep me posted on your progress with the insurance and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.:gluck: Take care, Jackie
  19. I hope I do too. Especially after some of the stuff I've heard about the gas pains. I'm sooo glad you're doing so well.
  20. Mal, Congrats!! Sounds like you're doing wonderfully!!! Hooray for you! Good Luck! Jackie

I'm with you on the motivation part. I've never liked to exercise, and I'm supposed to now, but I'm finding excuses to not do it, and I haven't even been banded yet. I'm doing really well on the 1200 calorie diet, but the exercise isn't there. Any suggestions?

Hi all, RCorn, my surgery is June 11 also, so is my husband's. We're doing this together. So much easier with both of us doing it together. Cooking meals is a breeze. I really look up to those of you who have to cook for a family. Don't know if I could do it. We're on a 1200 calorie/day diet for the time being and then 5 days before surgery we go on full liquids till the surgery. Hope I lose some weight. I already feel a little room in my pants that were skin tight on me only a couple of weeks ago. Just started the 1200 diet this past Monday. I'm so happy to have found this thread. Like someone else said, we can all help and support each other and share info on foods, recipes, etc. Anyone on here from Ohio? Good Luck to all of us:biggrin1: Jackie
  24. Thanks for the moral support. Really nervous that my husband and I are having surgery at the same time. My dogs like to get up on my stomach and chest.:phanvan That's really the only thing I'm worried about, that we can't pick them up to get them off if they sneak up on me. Sounds like you're feeling pretty good. That's great. :clap2: :clap2:
  25. Congrats all. My husband and I are having surgery on June 11. We originally wanted to have the surgery 2 weeks apart, but they scheduled us 2 HOURS apart so we talked about it and decided to go for it. My mom is going to help us, God love her. She's an angel. I'm so excited I can't stand it. I've already lost some weight from the 1200 cal diet. My pants that were super tight on me are a little loose now. Yippee!! The only thing I'm nervous about is making sure we have everything that we need after surgery. I printed out the lists from another thread and have most of the things on it, but just have a few things left to get. I'm so happy for all of you who already had your surgery and excited for those of you like me, who are about to have surgery.
