    Fabulous February!

Paid off Macy's and kohl's cards until after surgery and weight loss......pre lapband 2008 250lbs, down to 199 lbs. Band revision 2009 due to leak, problems with new band gained now 230lbs pre RNY. No pre diet thank God. Excited and nervous...Hope we meet Kat77 since we are at same hospital, same surgeon and same date we can walk the halls together!

One week after surgery Depends on your surgeon and what he sees before ending your surgery Yes

    Fabulous February!

I'm feb 6th too! Right around the corner......
  10. I had a band twice and agree with others that I should have chosen the RNY. I was worried about the malabsorption, but have since learned that the is minimal malabsorption depending on your surgeons technique. I have a good friend that had the sleeve done she did well 6 months out and now I only see weight gain on her. you can stretch out your sleeve just as easy and your RNY stomach in time. The biggest difference the way the food is routed and digested with the RNY. I was offered the sleeve but told that the only difference between my band and sleeve is a foreign object (band). The gold standard for successful weight loss is the RNY you have to t ready to change the way you look at food and if you are a sugar addict you will suffer the consequences and I doubt you will every want sugar again if you have a dumping syndrome moment. I have a sister in-law with RNY same time I banded and she lost 90 lbs in the first 6 months, but now has gained back half. He surgeon won't even see her after a year post op! If you have a good surgeon/bariatric group you will be a lifer with followups which is the way it should be. Anyway sorry I ran on and on. I will be band to bypass on Feb 6 and I am excited and nervous at the same time. I have a lot of scar tissue and adhesions that my surgeon has to contend with but I have the utmost faith in him as he has repaired many botched bariatric cases. This blog is great I have had many good conversations with people and hope to have more and learn more as my journey progresses. I am sure you will make a well informed decision and it will be right for you:-)
  11. Hi bandtobypass's, I will be having my band to bypass revision on Feb 6th, excited and nervous is the feeling... Hopefully this will conclude my weight-loss journey No more stuck feeling, saliva producing hours of fun... Since 2008 at 250 pounds and one revision of the band due to leak 50 Pound loss has become only 15 pounds. Sad but true I am lapband challenged. Found out that women have the tougher time Than men. Go figure... Here's hoping my scar tissue isn't to bad, my gallbladder looks good, i have no leaks and if any tubes or catheters have to Be placed they are removed before I get discharged......
  12. Hi band to bypass gang:-) Please send me feedback on your downtime after band to bypass procedure. Surgery done in same operative episode. thanks:-)

Got A Date Band To Bypass

me too Feb 6th for me, can't wait to get this band out!
  14. Wow I plan on being like you!
  15. New news bummer I have to postpone my bypass to Jan 2013. I had been having a toothache for a couple days and found out today that I need a root canal! Appearently they cant do surgery if you have dental work done 4 weeks prior to surgery or you have to wait 6 weeks after surgery!!!!! OMG so i opted to postpone surgery to get my tooth fixed and not suffer possible infection and pain waiting 6 weeks after surgery......Its suppose to be:-(
  16. November 7th another chapter of my weight loss journey. Timing couldn't be better insurance will change in Jan who knows if approving RNY's will change or not. Bonus my recovery flows right into my cruise vacation.....Wish me luck and speedy recovery!
