How Did You Tell Your Spouse About This Decision?
chris54 replied to DreamsOfSkinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been married for over 20 years. When I began this journey I did not tell my husband I feel it is an individual decision. This process takes time to emotionally rap your mind around everything. Until I was confident that I was going to commit to the process and the surgery then I sat my husband down told him I was going to have surgery on 10/29/12. I explain my reasoning to have it, my research, my doctor's opinion and the length of time I had already invested in the possibility. He understood and realized that he too was about to embark on a journey. For me that was an acceptable initial response. I am sure as I go through the process protein shakes and me literally changing before his eyes will either bring out his acceptance or insecurities for us both I am aware that this could breakup the relationship. Why? Because after the surgery a new person will emerge, a person who has been hidden for a long time. For me the person who will check in at the hospital will not be seen again a new person will be checking out. The core of who I am will only remain. The new body will begin to emerge. I forgot to mention I only told my two best friends. Today a few more people know ( my sis, my son and daughter). Others will know after surgery, and there are others who will only know I am on a great weight loss program that is finally working lol. Make no mistake about it this decision will enhance what you have or not. For me it is a scarific worth risking. Its about a new healthier life for me. Good luck appreciate comments. -
This is a great board for so many reasons. I will be sleeved on 10/29 and I am constantly all over this learning so much. Hope u hve the same experience.

Honesty is best u don't want to b stuck with a bill. Even though they told u a date, all hospital forms state and u sign that u r responsible financially for services rendered In addition everytime u call insurance company they log when, what and reason u called. Caution

Now For The Wait.....
chris54 replied to gtracygilby's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Let me give u my story I have bcbs my paperwork was submitted on 9/25 I was told by the docs office it takes between 2 to 4 weeks. On 10/1 I cld insurance co I had been approved on 9/27. I cld my doc office she had not received approval. I cld the provider, they said they had fax info to doc office, so they re faxed info. On 10/2 I cld doc office twice and told them what insurance co said on 10/2 around 7 pm doc office cld with surgery date of 9/29/12. Case and point I was accerative in the process. Sometimes the folks working for the doc office do not go the xtra mile nor do they put themselves in our shoes. The morale of this story is help them, make calls and make it happen -
wow sorry to hear that, what did your doctor say?

I just want everyone to know today I received my surgery date which is 10/29/12. I have serveral appointments to make, prep for a 2 week fast and shopping for essentials after surgery. I am excited. I have bcbs insurance and after all paperwork was submitted it only took 3 days for approval. I want everyone who participates in responses and post thier journeys (good or bad) how informative and extremely helpful it has been to me. Truly if you are not a participant in this journey, most people can never understand where we have to go mentally and physically. For you pre and post sleevers I congradulate and honor your presence for truly you are people of courage, insight, preservance and you dared to dream that your lives count! I will be posting various aspects of my journey! I welcome your comments.

May Have To Cancel My Oct 5Th Date
chris54 replied to valdostaGA's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is really about you do whatever you need to do. God is with you and so are the people on this site. This is going to change your life and give you a longer time. Most people do not really understand. Take the emotion out of the situation and remember you are doing this for your life. Sometimes we have to stand alone. I will pray for you -
Thanks so much for your response. I was told 2 weeks or more just wanted to know thanks.

Calm down all your fears are "What If's" none of these situations have happen yet. Refocus your mind, go read the info you received from the classes read it daily for reinforcement. I think alot of relationships will change among your peers, friends and maybe your boyfriend. So prepare yourself, you can handle it. Anyone going through this type of process is stronger than they think. You are going to be changing, so accept the fact others will too. Just remember those that love you will always be there for you. Good Luck you will be fine.

First clam down, take a deep breath hopefully you have not done any harm. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE remember you have just had major surgery. Dont lift boxes, babies nothing. When you feel like lifting something ask yourself "Is this really important" Good Luck let your body adjust.

Death Of All Things Delicious? (Atleast For Awhile)
chris54 replied to whitneymalae's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not officially started my liquid diet, but i have been replacing meals for the past week. I have been drinking 64 oz of water, and it is really hard some days without my new belly. You know the more you look at your goal the better. Keep your eye on the prize. Food has gotten us all in this place, celebrate your new beginning. This is really about changing your mind. Think about your favorite food (one item) and eat that instead of sabbataging your self. For me I will eat a nice size piece of choclate cake, that is it. This is not the last supper, it is like having a new life, all things will be new so enjoy the ride. Change the way you think about this whole process lol good luck. -
