    :(

No I came back anemic too in my labs. They gave me meds but did the surgery anyway. You really don't lose much blood at all for the Lapband so I don't think there would be a problem unless it was severe or something. Did they put u on iron?

For the singles here... Just do this..

I am a 34 year old, soon to be Latina bombshell. lol j/k. Im a nurse, single- never married, no kiddos but definitely want someday. I was banded on 09/11/2012, live in northeastern Pennsylvania, and really do enjoy walks on the beach.

    any single gals out there???

Bluetigereyes, that is exactly what I'm afraid of, is having guys treat me like that. Most men are all about the looks so I think they'd be chicken **** we'd gain the weight back. But I plan on just being honest about it from the get go & I'll let the losers weed themselves out. I wish I could meet someone at my support group but so far they are either married or too old for me :/ And kerrbear, i dont think there are many guys out there that would share ur point of view, bless ur heart. I think u just have compassion because you know what it's like to be judged.
  4. How did ur appt go? We were banded on same day so curious. Did u get a fill yet?

Tmi But I Really Need To Know

No I wouldn't reschedule ur surgery. There's probably gonna be a wait if u rescheduled and by then u might be on ur period again. They see this all the time. Wouldnt worry about it. Besides, they won't be in ur panties so they'll have no idea anyway. Surgery is short so I doubt you'll leak thru

    Is It Normal?

Yeah I gained a few pounds too. Was horrified but it came off. I thought it must be the fluids
  8. When I went to my consult I really wanted to know how long my doctor had been doing weight loss surgery, and what complications his patients have faced, and also how many of his patients have died. He was very honest with me about his 3 patients who had died and what happened with them. I liked his candor. I also wanted to know all the preop requirements and the postop follow up care I'd get from his office. I didn't wanna get the surgery and just be kinda kicked to the curb. There is also monthly support groups and even clothes exchange. I liked everything about the office, the nurses, aides, and nurse practitioners. They're all compassionate and helpful. Be really nosy!

    Length Of Hospital Stay?

I stayed overnight. Surgery was don't by 3:30 pm and left hospital at 2:00pm next day. No I didn't feel I needed to stay more. I actually kept stalking my nurse to hurry along the paperwork to get me out of there. Us nurses make the worst patients ya kno lol

    Lap Band Vs. Sleeve

The rny is the full gastric bypass. Roux en y, I think it's spelled. My doc wanted me to do the sleeve or bypass but I wanted to least invasive so picked Lapband. Also felt better that it can be removed. And if Lapband for some reason wasn't effective, my insurance would let me go for the sleeve or rny in 2 years anyway

    Is This Normal?

Oh and to answer your question, I wasn't hungry or thirsty for about 3 days post op. but don't worry it coming :/

    Is This Normal?

lol at this whole thread I too am really shocked ur up to tuna fish and egg salad already. I had my band 10 days ago and still can't have that??? My surgeon gave me a huge packet of allowable foods at all stages post op. Do you have one? Also if I were you I would NOT buy tuna and egg salad from subway/stores. You should make your own using fat free mayo. Imagine all that fat subways had!!! I'm alarmed for you.

    Im A Newbie

I did liquids for 2 weeks prior to surgery. I don't think you're the first person who has cheated. I would t worry too much about it but try to stick to it best you can now. They put you on that to shrink your liver so surgeon has easier time. I stuck to mine religiously because I knew I had a fatty liver already and didnr want it to go from laparoscopic to open surgery

That's amazing! You're doing really good! I've lost 11 pounds since my surgery 10 days ago. Let me know how your fill goes please! I'm kinda nervous about it....

    Im A Newbie

No I don't think they put anything in the band at surgery, at least my doc didn't. My first appt for possible fill isn't until like October 23rd!!! I guess they say it gives us time to heal and assess our weightloss and if we're having any difficulties keeping things down. I'm looking forward to my first fill. Hoping it will help me with my occasional hunger pangs.

Yeah that's the diet my doc has me on, but the last 2 days I tried adding in the cream if wheat & Then pudding and seem to be tolerating it ok. It's weird to me that some people's docs have them eating soft foods like eggs right out of surgery. Maybe we just have some cruel doctors lol? In another 3 days I get to add in stage 2 baby food and I'm freakin excited!

    What I Hate....

I hate deadbeat parents I hate drugs I hate bugs I hate lil Wayne I hate people who ignore the cashier and talk on their cell phone I hate guys that sag their pants I hate when people say " that was wrong on so many levels" I hate people that are too lazy to work I hate hearing people hocker I hate mullets
  20. Pezo, the surgery has been a positive thing for my diabetes When I first started the 6 month diet docs I was taking 50 units lantus every day, and then sliding scale humalog with meals. During the process prior to my Lapband I gradually lost 31 pounds working our and eating better. My sugars starting dropping so I gradually reduced my lantus 5 units at a time with docs permission. Adjusting during my weight loss made it easier for me when I finally had the surgery 10 days ago. Right now I'm currently taking 15 units of lantus, but still adjusting as I eat and drink more. I'm a nurse so I feel pretty confident adjusting my meds myself but your hubby should definitely work with an endocrinologist if he does this.

What Would You Wear If You Lose Weight?

Yeah some Victoria's secret will be nice. And I always really wanted some knee high hooker boots!
  22. I added the unflavored unjury Protein powder to beef and chicken broth. ( you can't make the Soup above a certain temp or the protein deactivates or some crap) Also mixed it into my Gatorade g2 or crystal light that I sipped on all day. As far as Protein shakes, I like Bariatric fusion chocolate mouse the best. I also think I remember my dietician talking about double strength milk- I think you can add powered milk to your regular milk for your shakes to give it a boost if your having hard time fittin in all the protein. I really wouldn't throw in the towel though and just follow your own game plan. You're in recovery and there's a reason we require a special diet best of luck

    Juices?

My doc discouraged, but said if I do drink juice to dilute it half & half with water. I try to stay away from it because it makes my sugar to high

    Need Some Extra Support

Wow I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time. Had my band the day before you and thankfully so far so good. You'll be fine after you recuperate from the gallbladder. I bet it probably doesn't feel that way now though.
