Some people are too self important to realize that just because you think they are a total jack hole , it doesn't mean that you're uneducated . I don't think you need a dictionary.....maybe ask for some "know it all" repellent

Just to be clear , I was not referring to ANYONE in this thread with my "old" comment and it has nothing to do with diet or advice, as I appreciate that. I was commenting on a few ppl that take every topic and turn it into a junior high slumber party and all about THEM. I am sorry to anyone that was offended.

Did I say it was in this thread ??? Maybe a general blanket statement . MYODB Thanks

I was not referring to any diet or the way anyone uses or DOES not use their band, but how when one person expresses their opinion, the rest jump in like a pack of wild hyenas when it has nothing to do with them. Congrats Assquil, you must be so proud.

I didn't single anyone out, so thanks for making yourselves known and proving my point.

Amen ! While I am sure everyone has their own advice/opinion , I choose to leave my nutritional guidance to my surgery team, the guy I paid with the PHD -

At this point my only concern is healing properly and having enough calories to provide energy. Once I'm cleared to eat and work out I'll become more diligent. I'm just trying to survive right now -

It does seem kind of extreme ! I can understand once you have clearance to eat and chew, but on the healing phase which is so restrictive anyway, I can't see being that strict. -

The mushie phase list I was given was pretty vague, so I've called my surgeons office a couple of times to ask if certain things were ok. I'm just doing refried canned beans that I've thinned with a couple of drops of Water. I'd say if in doubt call and ask...... that's what your Dr is there for ! -

oatmeal , potatoes , refried Beans. I guess everyone calls it "mushies" but my paper says phase 2. -
I've had the plication and I am starting to wonder if I will even want to go to my first couple of fills or wait and see if an almost empty band with plication will provide a loss. Those of you that have the plication, did you immediately start to have fills or wait until weight loss slowed ?

Wondering If I Want Restriction ??

I went in surgery a little after 12 and home by 3. Everything was really smooth, I'm alert and not near as much pain as I expected. Anyone coming up on band date, don't be frightend ......it was so much better that I thought it would be !
-
For those of you a year or more post op, how is the scaring ? This is my first incisions of any kind and I'm wondering what to expect.
-
Don't be freaked out. I can't speak for anyone else, but even with my own little issues and discomforts, I don't regret it. The surgery its self is not that bad at all, everyone just has different tolerances and hurdles. I have had zero incision pain unlike some of the others, everyone just gets a different bag. You'll be great !!
-
I should also say that this morning they were about 50% less painful on their own, I just went in for reassurance and because they get a little worse at night. I felt like I was justifying to him that I'm not a wimp and I have a really high pain tolerance, but he completely understood and stated that not all patients experience it and that it is indeed VERY painful. On Monday I would be doubled over every episode , but today it just hurts for a few min and then passes. I hope you get some relief , I feel for ya

I called twice yesterday, once after hours, and was prescribed a stronger nausea med that is used for chemo patients. Once the pain starts its intense pressure and immediate nausea and the new med did nothing ! They advised me to come into the office today and my surgeon says they are esopheagul spasms and should subside over time. He gave me a script for a drug called Levsin, but it hasn't stopped them as of yet.

I'm only 4 days post op and the port incision bandage is flapping. My instructions said strips would fall off in 1-2 weeks, the others are stuck like glue ! Should I recover with a bandage , or leave it ? I'm concerned since its the largest and my Dr is closed for the day.
