    big problems advice needed please

I have a question? Is she seeing the doc who did the banding originally? I have had alot and I mean alot of different problems with my band. All of which have been addressable if you will. This sounds like she is getting tonnes of help from people who don't really know what they are doing....please forgive me if I am out to lunch, but I have had docs who are willing to "give it a try" and can't really cut it. My advice...see the doc who did the band in the first place...check slippage, check for infection, hell get her on an antibiotic it can't hurt, and check for Gallstones...the pain that she is experiencing I have experienced and I have a gallbladder full of stones....all the best and good luck. Questions

I was the same as Jacko....in and out like the beer store. Less than 24 hours I was home 4 hours away by car from the clinic I was banded at!
  4. Hey there; I know where you have been and I know where you are at....well at least I can relate. I too had a husband that left us. I have 3 little kids and have raised them basically on my own for the past 3+ years. Fortunately for me now I have found my best friend, my soul mate and the thing that has been missing from my life for all these years. I don't know if you have anyone new, or you even want that, but here is something. We did it. We kept our dignity and we raised our kids, we sat through long lonely nights and we fought the good fight. We look at those gorgeous faces in their cozy beds at night and we were there for them. Hooray for us I say. We are the bomb girlfriend and we should never forget it.....proud of me....proud of you. Keep up the awesome work. POPT Tracey
  5. I was daysurgery. Went in at 7:30 AM back to the hotel by 2. Went home the next day.
  6. Well I am new to this site and an old bandster so I say....Good Luck...your doing great! 17 lbs is a nice start and a nice way to say...hey look at me go! Keep up the awesome work, get your groove on and take a tic tac, its all worth it when your wearing your skinny jeans! Good Luck and Great Start. POPT Tracey
  7. My advice to you....and this is only my advice...be aloof...super cool. Tell her what you know she wants to hear and get out of that office. You see the difference between Canada and the US i think is...we don't have a consultation with anyone before banding. I was self paid, but I never had to see anyone psycologically before surgery. Hmmmm now that I think of it, maybe I should have! lmbo Good Luck....break free! POPT Tracey

    lapband and gallbladder

Sounds like the jury is in! Extreme weightloss and gallbladder problems seem to go hand in hand for some reason. I have opted to refrain from the surgery for the moment considering I am scheduled for a hysterectomy next month and abdominoplasty (fingers crossed) in the fall. I want to time my surgeries....(ridiculous I know) so that the most important ones are done first. When I read this back to myself I sound like a hypocondriac...(sp).....oh well priorities I suppose. Hi?

Hi Chinamom; Well I am exactly sure where to start. I am going to ask you some questions that I asked myself when I was making my decision. Are you happy with yourself? With where you are in your personal life and with your health? Would losing the weight that you have to lose improve these things, would it improve your daughters live with a slimmer more active Mom? Will you live longer and watch her graduate from college, get married, have babies? Are any of these things a question for you? When I was banded I was cleaning for an elderly gentleman one day a week. I never missed a beat. I went right back to it the same week. Its a small surgery really in the grand scheme of things. Taking care of your daughter would be a snap with a little help from friends and a stern chin-up! This banding was one of the best and worst things that I have ever done for myself. I yes, have lost 125 lbs and am happy with it. But there have been a literal tonne of things that have happened along the way. All of which I may add have made me a stronger much more wellrounded person. I know that I can conquer anything and nothing is really that bad. I would love to give you every bit of knowledge and first hand experience that you would like to know....just ask the ????... Good Luck. POPT (Power of Positive Thought) Tracey
  10. How do you import those cute little things to your signature? Where is the tickerthingy? And oh yeah....i sure hope you are feeling better....when were you banded? POPT Tracey
  11. Hey there; I tend to agree...i think that after the swelling subsides there is sometimes the feeling that my fill doesn't seem as full as it should be. Check it out to be sure though is my thought! You cannot be too careful with these things POPT Tracey

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!

    I have lost 125.....how do I add?
  13. Hey Everyone; As I read the threads in these forums and posts, I am seeing something quite common. Alot of the people on here are either just being banded or have just recently been banded. Am I correct in this or am I completely out to lunch? I have been banded for 3+ years and I am not seeing too many people so far that have been banded that long. Please correct me if I am wrong. I would be interested in finding out if there are people who have been banded longer and I am just missing them or is this a pretty common? It would be kind of a neat feeling to be the oldest bandster on the block...hehehehe! I hope you are all doing well and happy days! POPT Tracey:clap2:

    lapband and gallbladder

Hi Sherri; Been there...very common, however mostly from what I understand the Gallbladder problems generally start after you have lost the weight, not before hand. My GP told me before I even started losing the weight that I would have gallstones within the first year or so...he was correct. I have stones, but the bile in the gallbladder itself is still clear and thin, which means that it isn't necessary to have it removed yet. It inevitable though. I am just hoping that I am able to lose the remainder for my weight first and then have the op. I have been putting it off for about a year, so here's hoping. I find that as long as I stay away from anything naughty...like chocolate....I am AOKAY! Hope that this helps and good luck with the banding. I have been banded for 3+ years...and 125lbs lost. Hi?

Hi there Alexandra; Yeah I am doing well with the band. I have a 10cc Swedish Band and am usually carrying about a 4cc fill or there abouts anyways. I have no reflux or esophogeal problems, although I didn't have any to begin with. I was banded in Toronto Ontario and at the time there were less than 1000 of us in circulation. I was the first in that clinic to have this 10cc Swedish Band put in. I have tonnes of information and alot of insight if you will to living long term being banded. There are its ups and downs for sure, as I am sure many of you know. For example as the weight goes down the port gets closer to the surface.....an issue for me at the moment. Relocation however will happen when I have my abdominoplasty. Thanks for putting a post in and I hope to get to know you. Tracey
